Conconully Lake Introduce
For local users in Washington State searching for "camping near me" in the Okanogan region, Conconully Lake offers a scenic and potentially diverse range of camping and lodging options. Located in Okanogan, WA 98840, this area encompasses both upper and lower Conconully Lake, each with its own characteristics and facilities. Based on recent customer reviews, the camping landscape at Conconully Lake has seen some changes, with both state-run and privately operated options available, as well as lodging beyond traditional campsites.
The environment surrounding Conconully Lake is consistently described as peaceful, relaxing, and scenic, making it an ideal escape for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty. The presence of both an upper and a lower lake suggests varied waterfront environments, potentially ranging from more secluded and natural settings to areas with more developed recreational facilities. The Okanogan region is known for its stunning landscapes, characterized by lakes, forests, and rolling hills, providing a picturesque backdrop for outdoor activities. The air quality in this area is likely to be fresh and clean, contributing to a refreshing camping experience. The change in seasons would bring different scenic qualities, from warm summers ideal for water activities to potentially quieter, cooler periods for hiking and enjoying the fall colors.
The services available at Conconully Lake vary depending on whether you choose to camp at the state park on the lower lake or at one of the two private resorts also located on the lower lake. According to a recent review, the state-run resort on the upper lake was temporarily shut down due to run-down facilities and poor management, with the state parks department managing the boat launch there. However, as of spring 2019, a new state-run campsite on Conconully Lake was reported to be open. This suggests that the state park offers camping facilities, and one reviewer specifically praised the "cleanest well kept modern bathroom/shower" they had ever experienced at a campsite, noting that the bathrooms are consistently clean. To utilize the boat launch on the upper lake, a Discover Pass and a fee are required. For those seeking lodging beyond camping, the review mentions the availability of a lodge and a hotel, with the lodge offering "custom cabins with a kitchen and priced right!" The services at the two private resorts on the lower lake are not detailed in the reviews but would typically include campsites and possibly additional amenities such as boat rentals, convenience stores, or recreational equipment.
The features of Conconully Lake cater to a variety of outdoor interests. The presence of the lake itself is a primary feature, offering opportunities for boating and potentially other water sports. The availability of a boat launch, managed by the state parks department on the upper lake, provides access for those bringing their own boats. Fishing is also likely a popular activity on Conconully Lake. The scenic environment lends itself well to relaxation and enjoying nature. The opening of the new state-run campsite on Conconully Lake (as of spring 2019) adds to the camping options in the area. The availability of lodging in the form of a lodge with custom cabins and a hotel broadens the appeal beyond just traditional camping. The state park's modern and clean bathroom/shower facilities are a significant feature for campers seeking comfort and hygiene. The mention of a Discover Pass requirement for the boat launch indicates that users should be aware of the necessary permits for certain activities.
Based on the customer reviews, the camping and lodging situation at Conconully Lake has evolved. The temporary closure of the privately run but state-owned resort on the upper lake highlights the importance of checking the current status of facilities before planning a trip to that specific area. However, the opening of a new state-run campsite on Conconully Lake (presumably on either the upper or lower lake, though the context suggests the upper lake was under renovation) provides a new public camping option. The lower lake is confirmed to have camping available at two resorts and the state park. The exceptionally clean and modern bathroom/shower facilities at the state park are a significant positive aspect for campers choosing that location. The availability of lodging, particularly the custom cabins at the lodge with kitchens, offers a comfortable alternative to camping and is noted for being reasonably priced.
The requirement of a Discover Pass and a fee for using the boat launch is an important piece of information for those planning to bring a boat to Conconully Lake. This pass is a standard requirement for accessing many state-managed recreation sites in Washington and should be factored into the cost of a visit. The positive review describing Conconully Lake as a "peaceful, relaxing, scenic place to escape" underscores the overall appeal of the area for those seeking a tranquil outdoor experience.

In conclusion, for local users searching for "camping near me" in the Okanogan region, Conconully Lake offers a variety of options, including state park camping on the lower lake with exceptionally clean facilities, potential new state-run campsites (location needs verification), and lodging at private resorts and a lodge with reasonably priced cabins. Conconully Lake Reviews
Ok the state shut down the privately run but state owned resort on the upper lake due to run down facilities and poor management. The boat launch is managed by the state parks dept. The state has built a new campsite but has not opened them due to a well/water issue, so right now there’s no public camping on the upper Conconully Lake. Once they get done with that they will start looking into getting the resort sorted out. There is camping available on the lower lake at the 2 resorts or the state park. The state park has by far the cleanest well kept modern bathroom/shower I have ever experienced at a campsite/park. The bathrooms are always clean. Also lodging available at a lodge and hotel. The lodge has custom cabins with a kitchen and priced right! You need a discover pass and to pay a fee to use the launch..*+++*As of spring 2019 the state run campsite at Conconully lake is now open! 5/31/19
Jun 01, 2019 · Milo MarcilleWhat a peaceful, relaxing, scenic place to escape from the world for a while. Loved it.
Jun 26, 2023 · Jayson BarrettoIt's wonderful there. Large camping spots and great fishing lake with hikes around the lake
Aug 24, 2024 · terry evansStayed here with a few family members. May 15-May 21 2022. Rv camp ground w/ Hook ups... with a lake that is great for fishing and kayaking. No cell service or wifi... so it's a great place to get away and escape from technology. The weather was a little cold and it rained off and on.. and it was super windy but I still caught fish. 2 16inch trout and 2 12inch trout and 2 small bass so all in all it was a good trip..
May 22, 2022 · Ivy Ann ZegstrooGood get away for a quiet time away from city life. Stayed there last summer. Rented a boat for the full day and thoroughly enjoyed boating. Took a trip to near by orchards and picked pears, peaches and some veggies. Kevin gave pointers and tips on local get around. An old town resort is a nice location very close to the lake. The cabin had kitchen and utensils. We cooked the three days we stayed there from the veggies picked from near by orchard. Will go back again in few years.
