The Environment: Seclusion on the Cumberland Plateau
Coon Hollow Cabin is described as being "off the beaten path," situated "1/2 mile back at a dead end lane on top of the Cumberland plateau." This location suggests a significant degree of privacy and quiet, making it ideal for those seeking solitude and a break from the noise of everyday life. The Cumberland Plateau is known for its natural beauty, potentially offering scenic views and a tranquil environment. Being secluded from the rest of a campground implies a more intimate connection with nature, with fewer disturbances from other campers.
One reviewer noted the cabin's seclusion from the rest of the campground, emphasizing its quietness, which they found to be a great advantage. The description of being on top of the Cumberland Plateau further suggests a potentially elevated location with expansive views or unique natural features typical of the plateau region.
Features and Considerations: Comfort and Practicalities
Based on the available reviews, Coon Hollow Cabin offers certain comforts while also presenting a few areas where potential guests should be prepared. One reviewer found the beds to be "fairly comfortable," which is a positive aspect for a restful night's sleep after a day of exploring or relaxing.
The same reviewer mentioned encountering a couple of wolf spiders inside the cabin, noting that this wasn't entirely unexpected in this type of setting. This suggests that while the cabin provides shelter, guests should be aware that they are still in a natural environment where encounters with wildlife, such as insects, are possible.
A significant point of feedback was the "awful" interior lighting, which was reportedly so dim that it made playing games difficult. This issue was resolved by the guests through purchasing brighter light bulbs from a dollar store. While this remedied the immediate problem, it highlights a potential area for improvement within the cabin.
Following the change in lighting, the reviewer noted that they could then see cobwebs in the corners that appeared to have not been cleaned. Additionally, they mentioned the absence of a dishcloth or anything to scrub dishes with. These points suggest that while the cabin offers a secluded and quiet stay, attention to detail regarding cleanliness and provision of basic kitchen supplies might be lacking.
On a more positive note, the cabin offers "plenty of parking," which is convenient for guests arriving with their own vehicles.
Despite some of the criticisms, the reviewer concluded by saying, "I'd recommend staying here, just be aware and plan accordingly!" This indicates that the unique appeal of the cabin, likely its seclusion and quiet setting, outweighs some of the noted drawbacks, provided that guests come prepared.
Another reviewer simply described the cabin as "unique - off the beaten path with plenty of quiet and solitude - 1/2 mile back at a dead end lane on top of the Cumberland plateau - awesome !" This succinct review strongly emphasizes the cabin's key selling points: its uniqueness, secluded location, quiet atmosphere, and setting on the Cumberland Plateau.

Coon Hollow Cabin Reviews
The cabin is nice and secluded from the rest of the campground, so it's very quiet, which is great! The beds are fairly comfortable. There were a couple of wolf spiders that needed relocating to the outside, which wasn't too unexpected in this type of setting. The lighting inside was awful and we couldn't even see to play games. A quick trip to the dollar store for brighter bulbs remedied that, but it came with a down side... we could then see all the cobwebs in the corners that hadn't been cleaned. We found no dish cloth or anything to scrub the dishes with, unfortunately. There was plenty of parking, though! I know most of this review seems negative but that wasn't my intention. I'd recommend staying here, just be aware and plan accordingly!
