Tennessee Cumberland Plateau Campground Introduce
For local users specifically seeking "camping near me" within a unique and potentially welcoming community, the Tennessee Cumberland Plateau Campground (TCPC), located at 13 Airstream Dr, Pikeville, TN 37367, USA, presents a distinctive option. It is crucial to note from the outset that TCPC is described as an "Airstream-only campground," meaning it exclusively caters to owners of Airstream recreational vehicles. Additionally, information suggests that ownership or membership may be a prerequisite for staying at this campground.
One enthusiastic reviewer describes TCPC as a "fantastic Airstream-only campground, full of friendly folks who welcome guests to share in camp activities, beautiful scenery, and a wonderfully developed trail system." This positive feedback highlights several key aspects of the campground. The emphasis on a "friendly" community suggests a welcoming and social environment where Airstream owners can connect with like-minded individuals. The mention of shared "camp activities" implies a vibrant and engaging atmosphere with opportunities for interaction among campers.
The natural environment surrounding TCPC is lauded as having "beautiful scenery," consistent with the Highland region of Tennessee, which is known for its picturesque landscapes, including forests, overlooks, and diverse terrain. The campground's location on the Cumberland Plateau further suggests access to elevated views and a unique ecological system. For Airstream owners who appreciate scenic beauty, TCPC appears to offer an attractive setting to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
A significant feature highlighted in the positive review is a "wonderfully developed trail system." This indicates that TCPC provides opportunities for hiking and exploring the natural surroundings directly from the campground. Well-maintained trails enhance the camping experience for those who enjoy walking, trekking, and immersing themselves in nature. The development of the trail system suggests a commitment to providing recreational amenities for its members and guests.
The reviewer also notes that TCPC is "a great place to relax and enjoy nature in the highlands of Tennessee." This reinforces the idea of a peaceful and tranquil environment, ideal for unwinding and escaping the stresses of daily life. The "highlands of Tennessee" are generally characterized by cooler temperatures and distinct seasonal changes, which can add to the appeal for those seeking a refreshing getaway.
In terms of physical amenities, the positive review mentions that "guest lots are huge." Spacious campsites are a significant advantage for RV owners, providing ample room for maneuvering, parking, and setting up outdoor living areas. This contributes to a more comfortable and less cramped camping experience. Furthermore, the "facilities are impressive," suggesting well-maintained and high-quality infrastructure within the campground, which could include restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and communal areas.
Despite the positive review, it is crucial to consider a starkly contrasting negative experience shared by another individual who attempted to become a member or owner at TCPC. This account details a "horrible experience" related to purchasing a site and dealing with the "membership director." The core of the issue appears to stem from a disagreement about the process of securing a lot, with the prospective buyer feeling unfairly treated and denied an interview and acceptance after incurring expenses to travel to the location.
The negative reviewer's account raises serious concerns about the management and membership process at TCPC. Allegations of a "power trip" and inconsistent communication from the membership director paint a potentially unfavorable picture of the administrative aspects of this campground. The claim that others have experienced similar issues suggests that this might not be an isolated incident. This negative perspective is a critical piece of information for any local Airstream owner considering joining this community.
The negative reviewer strongly advises others to "avoid avoid avoid this horrible, miserable, crazy person and look elsewhere," indicating a deeply negative personal experience that has significantly impacted their perception of TCPC. While this is a single account, it is important to acknowledge this perspective alongside the positive feedback regarding the campground's environment and amenities.
Given the conflicting reviews, local Airstream owners interested in "camping near me" at the Tennessee Cumberland Plateau Campground should exercise caution and conduct thorough due diligence. It is essential to understand the membership or ownership requirements, the process for joining, and to potentially speak with current members to gain a balanced perspective on the community and management. Contacting TCPC directly at (931) 248-4041 or +1 931-248-4041 to inquire about the membership process and any available information for prospective members would be a crucial first step.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, when contacting TCPC, it would be pertinent to inquire about any current membership drives, special offers for new members, or details about the costs associated with joining and maintaining a site. Understanding the financial commitments and the benefits of membership is essential for making an informed decision.
In conclusion, Tennessee Cumberland Plateau Campground in Pikeville, TN, offers a unique "camping near me" experience as an Airstream-only community with beautiful scenery, a developed trail system, and spacious lots. The positive review highlights a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with impressive facilities. However, a significant negative review regarding the membership process and the behavior of the membership director raises serious concerns. Local Airstream owners should carefully weigh these contrasting perspectives and conduct thorough research, including direct communication with TCPC, to determine if this campground aligns with their expectations and needs for a camping community.

Oct 26, 2023 · Mary McDanielJust had a horrible experience trying to buy a membership at TCPC.WE WERE trying to buy a site here. Made arrangements with seller to hold the pot for us. Membership director didn’t like that we did that without talking to HER first (even after we spoke to her months before and she refused to help us because “they weren’t open yet”) so she went on a power trip after we spent several hundred dollars to set up the “interview” with her she called the day before we were to fly into town to deny our interview and acceptance. Because we “made arrangements with the seller to hold the lot for us before we talked to her about it first. When I asked “how can we fix this” she said we can’t she was denying our application and wouldn’t be in town on the day we were flying in. and would not allow anyone else to talk to us about becoming an owner. Said we needed to fly back another time to speak to her when she was available. We were absolutely LIVID!We were later told by people in the park we weren’t only people she was like this with. Why would anyone keep this type or miserable person around and expect good reviews? Avoid avoid avoid this horrible, miserable, crazy person and look elsewhere. I certainly will.
