Cornerstone Campground and Retreat Center Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me," Cornerstone Campground and Retreat Center, located at 75 W County Road 500 S, New Castle, IN 47362, USA, offers a unique camping experience with a distinct Christian focus. To provide a detailed introduction, we will objectively analyze the available customer reviews to understand its environment, services, features, and any specific considerations for potential visitors.
The environment of Cornerstone Campground and Retreat Center appears to be well-maintained and welcoming. One reviewer noted that "the entrance to the campground is beautiful," suggesting an aesthetically pleasing arrival experience. Another long-term visitor described the sites as "reasonably large and well cared for," indicating attention to the upkeep of the camping areas. The presence of a pond is also mentioned, which could contribute to the natural beauty and offer potential recreational opportunities. The campground seems to prioritize cleanliness and orderliness throughout the park. However, one reviewer pointed out that the back-in sites can be "tight," and if adjacent sites are occupied, maneuvering could be challenging. Additionally, the placement of connections (electrical, water, sewer) was described as being "all the way to the rear of the spots," potentially requiring extra-long hoses and extension cords. Despite these spatial considerations, the overall impression is of a campground that values a pleasant and organized environment for its guests.
In terms of services, Cornerstone Campground and Retreat Center offers several notable amenities. A significant highlight is the presence of a restaurant that delivers food directly to your campsite, with one reviewer praising their "pretty good pizza" and another mentioning a "kitchen serving good food delivered to your rig." This delivery service adds a layer of convenience for campers who may not want to cook all their meals. The staff is generally described positively, with one reviewer noting the gentleman at check-in was "polite and friendly" and another stating that "the staff are welcoming and helpful." This suggests a commitment to guest satisfaction. However, one reviewer mentioned an unusual preference for cash or check payments at check-in, with higher credit card fees and a somewhat assertive encouragement to use alternative payment methods. While the reason for this preference can be inferred, it's a point to be aware of for potential visitors. The campground also provides clean and well-maintained facilities, contributing to a comfortable stay. The dual nature of the location as a "Campground and Retreat Center" suggests that they may also offer facilities and services geared towards group retreats and gatherings, although specific details about these were not provided in the reviews.
The features of Cornerstone Campground and Retreat Center cater to a family-friendly environment with a Christian orientation. The mention of a playground and a pond indicates amenities aimed at entertaining children and providing recreational opportunities. The area is described as "safe for children," which is an important consideration for families. However, it is crucial for potential visitors to be aware of the specific rules enforced by the campground due to its religious affiliation. These rules, as mentioned by one reviewer, include "no alcohol/smoking, no bikinis, etc." These regulations might be a significant factor for some campers when choosing a location. The tight nature of some back-in sites and the inconvenient placement of utility connections (requiring extra-long equipment) are also features to consider, particularly for RV campers. Despite these potential drawbacks, the campground's focus on creating a safe and welcoming environment, along with amenities like the restaurant delivery service and recreational facilities, makes it appealing to certain types of campers, especially those who appreciate a Christian-oriented atmosphere.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Cornerstone Campground and Retreat Center based on the provided reviews. Campgrounds often offer discounts for longer stays, seasonal specials, or group rates, especially for retreat centers. To inquire about any current promotions, local users should contact Cornerstone Campground and Retreat Center directly via phone at (765) 987-8700 or +1 765-987-8700. Given its dual function as a campground and retreat center, they may have specific pricing structures or packages depending on the type of stay and the number of people. It would be beneficial to ask about any available discounts or special offers when making inquiries about reservations.
In conclusion, Cornerstone Campground and Retreat Center in New Castle, Indiana, offers a well-maintained environment with friendly staff and convenient services like restaurant delivery. Its family-friendly features, including a playground and pond, make it appealing to families. However, potential visitors must be aware of its Christian affiliation and the associated rules regarding alcohol, smoking, and attire, as these may influence their decision. RV campers should also note the potential for tight back-in sites and the need for extra-long utility connections. While one reviewer expressed a personal preference not to return due to the religious aspect and rules, another had two positive stays, highlighting the welcoming staff and well-kept facilities. For local users searching for "camping near me," Cornerstone Campground and Retreat Center presents a unique option that requires careful consideration of its specific environment, services, features, and the rules in place due to its religious orientation. Direct communication with the campground is recommended to address any specific concerns and to inquire about current promotions and availability.

Cornerstone Campground and Retreat Center Reviews
Understand this is a Christian campground, and with that said it would normally not be our cup of tea simply because we don't like mixing religion or politics with business. This was a last minute change of plans for us as our original reservations at a campground in Kentucky got cancelled due to flooding so we were forced to find an alternative which is how we ended up here. The entrance to the campground is beautiful and the gentleman who greeted us at check-in was polite and friendly. The credit card fees seemed to be much higher than what I've seen elsewhere and he was pretty assertive about us paying with cash or check instead, even offering to wait for payment until the following day if we needed time to get to an ATM. A little odd, but I'm sure we can all conclude the reason they'd prefer those methods of payment. Our site was a back-in site and it was tight! If the adjacent sites were occupied as well there would have been no way we would have been able to get in. And once we extended our slides, the neighboring site's fire pit was almost right under our bedroom slide. Very awkward and thankfully no one showed up for that spot for the week we stayed there. In addition to the very tight spots, the connections are in the worst possible locations - all the way to the rear of the spots. So bring your extension cords, your extra long water hoses, and extra sewer hoses because they were definitely cutting corners building this part of the park. Other than that the park seemed to be well kept and the restaurant (that delivers to your site) has some pretty good pizza. So although I personally wouldn't stay here again, I wouldn't necessarily steer anyone away from it either. Just beware of what you're getting into and the weird rules they enforce because of their religious insecurities. No alcohol/smoking, no bikinis, etc.
Apr 23, 2025 · Brian PrattWhile this is a Christian campground, our two stays here this fall we're great. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Sites are reasonably large and well cared for. There is a kitchen serving good food delivered to your rig.Facilities are clean and in good condition. The area is safe for children, has a playground and a pond. We recommend this place highly.
Oct 09, 2024 · Dwight SwisherPermanent campers we're rude. Walk right through our campsite several times. Site was small, we had a hard time backing in our rv into the space, due to a Permanent camper having flags stuck in the ground along side the road, M arking their Campsite all around the aroundWith placements of flags. Mentioned they had rebar at home when we're trying to park. I have camped here many times over the years and have always enjoyed the camp ground until this happened
Dec 10, 2024 · Trish OwenChrist-centered camping! We LOVED it! It's a clean campground with friendly staff and neighbors. Everyone is respectful and kind. They even have church service on Sunday mornings!
Nov 08, 2024 · Chris ProwsWe stayed at this campground for almost a year and every part of it was amazing! The family that owns this property is a blessing to all that arrive. They provide countless things to do and fun, family oriented events along with a wonderful restaurant and beautiful pool. Definitely recommend staying here if you have the chance.
