With contact numbers (540) 864-7575 and +1 540-864-7575, this campground provides a back-to-nature feel at an incredibly affordable price of just $20 per night, as highlighted by a satisfied camper.
The environment at Country Campground is described as "big and rustic," appealing to those who appreciate a more natural and less manicured camping setting. One of the most memorable aspects, according to visitor feedback, is the frequent wildlife encounters. Imagine setting up your camp and spotting a deer nearby, or waking up to the gentle presence of horses roaming around. These interactions with nature create a truly unique and memorable camping experience, as enthusiastically shared by a guest who extended their stay due to the charm of the surroundings.
Adding to the rustic charm is the availability of a "summer shower," which one reviewer found to be a "neat experience." While details about this shower are limited, it suggests an outdoor or more basic showering facility that aligns with the campground's overall rustic appeal. Each campsite is also equipped with a fire ring, perfect for enjoying campfires and the quintessential camping experience of roasting marshmallows under the stars. Basic amenities also include well water hookups, although one reviewer cautiously advised against drinking it despite the owner's assurance of its potability, suggesting it might be best to bring your own drinking water.
For those requiring electrical hookups, Country Campground offers 35 amp electricity at each site, a valuable amenity for powering essential camping equipment. However, it's worth noting that the cold water shower is the only option available, further emphasizing the campground's focus on basic, no-frills camping. The "valet bathroom" was described by one reviewer as "quite dirty," but they also pointed out the convenience of a gas station being just two minutes away, offering an alternative for restroom facilities if needed.
Despite its rustic nature, Country Campground offers a sense of tranquility. One visitor who stayed for two nights mentioned seeing only two other families nearby, indicating a generally quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The occasional visits from curious horses further add to the serene ambiance, allowing campers to feel more connected to the natural surroundings.
An interesting aspect of Country Campground is the presence of numerous RVs belonging to the owner's relatives and friends. While this might suggest a close-knit community, one visitor who encountered some of these individuals described them as "very kind and helpful," readily offering assistance and directions to facilities like the shower room and well water pipe. This suggests a friendly and welcoming atmosphere among those who frequent the campground.
For outdoor enthusiasts, Country Campground's location is particularly advantageous. It is situated approximately a 13-minute drive from the trailheads for two of the region's most popular hiking destinations: McAfee Knob and Dragon's Tooth. This proximity allows campers to enjoy these iconic hikes with the added benefit of a slightly longer sleep-in if they plan to catch the sunrise from these scenic overlooks. This accessibility makes Country Campground an ideal basecamp for hikers exploring the stunning natural beauty of the area.
Considering its unique natural environment, including wildlife encounters and a quiet setting, coupled with its incredibly low price of $20 per night, one reviewer concluded that Country Campground is "the best and cheapest campsite in the area" and "definitely worth that $20." This strong endorsement highlights the exceptional value offered by this rustic campground.
While specific promotional offers were not mentioned in the provided information, the consistently low price point of $20 per night can be considered a significant promotional aspect in itself, especially for budget-conscious travelers seeking "cheap campgrounds Virginia." The unique experiences offered, such as observing deer and horses in their natural habitat, along with the convenient access to renowned hiking trails, further enhance the value proposition of Country Campground.
In summary, Country Campground in New Castle, VA, provides a rustic and affordable camping experience that emphasizes a connection with nature. Its unique features include frequent wildlife sightings like deer and horses, basic amenities such as fire rings, well water hookups, 35 amp electricity, and a "summer shower." Country Campground Reviews
My husband and I absolutely loved staying here. The host was so nice. We ended up staying two nights instead of one and it will always be the most memorable camping experience ever. We saw a deer setting up camp and woke up to horses. I also saw my first ever black widow in the wood pile they provide each campsite. The summer shower was definitely a neat experience😆 We will definitely be back🥰
Jun 23, 2024 · Cassy UrbanBig and rustic campsite with super low price $20 per night. There’s fire ring, well water hook up(owner says it is drinkable, but I don’t suggest you take the chance) , also 35amp electricity, and cold water shower. Valet bathroom is a quite dirty, but gas station is 2 mins away😹Spent 2 nights there last month, only saw 2 families near by, very quiet campsite. Sometimes horses would come around and take a peek. There are also a lot of RVs there which belong to owner’s relatives and friends. They will gather around on certain days every year, luckily I met few of them, and they were very kind and helpful, show me the direction to the shower room and well water pipe.Camp is about 13 mins drive to McAfee knob and dragon tooth trailhead, so you can catch a bit more sleep if you wanna watch the sunrise.Overall, the best and cheapest campsite in the area, definitely worth that $20.
Oct 08, 2024 · wheres chickenStayed here one night during a trip to the AT. There were other campers there but it felt as if we were the only ones there - it was very quiet. It’s solely a campground - not much else to do there besides camping things, which is hard to find now. In other words, it was a true camping experience. Not pricey either - $20 for one night. If I ever am in the area for camping again, I would definitely stay here for the low cost.
