County Park Introduce
For those in the Peshtigo, Wisconsin area and surrounding Marinette County, seeking a 'camping near me' option that combines natural beauty with access to lake activities, the County Park located at 500 Bay Rd, Peshtigo, WI 54157, USA, offers a locally utilized spot. Based on feedback from fellow campers, this park provides both regular and group camping sites, along with convenient boat launch facilities, making it a popular choice for those looking to enjoy the lake. While the facilities are generally considered decent, there are a few points to note regarding amenities and lake access.
The environment of County Park is consistently described as beautiful, suggesting a scenic setting that likely leverages its location on Bay Road, potentially offering views of or access to a bay or lake. The natural landscape appears to be a significant draw for visitors, contributing to a pleasant camping experience. The availability of both regular campsites and a group site indicates that the park can accommodate different types of camping parties, from individual families to larger groups. The presence of mature trees and natural surroundings can be inferred from the positive comments about its beauty, likely providing shade and a sense of immersion in nature. For local users seeking a picturesque 'camping near me' location, County Park seems to offer an attractive natural setting.
In terms of services, County Park offers what are described as "decent" facilities. This suggests that basic amenities are available, though they might not be extensive or modern. One reviewer mentioned using the bathrooms by the group site and noted the presence of a mouse, indicating that while facilities exist, cleanliness might be a variable factor, and natural elements can sometimes be present. It's important to note that this was a specific observation at the group site bathrooms, and the condition of other facilities isn't detailed. The park does provide boat launches, which are utilized regularly by visitors, indicating a key service catering to those interested in boating activities on the adjacent water body. Another service mentioned is an increase in the daily fee for the boat launch, rising from $5 to $7, a significant 40% increase that has been noted by users. Additionally, the park only accepts charge cards for boat launch fees, which is an important detail for those planning to use these facilities. Information regarding campsite fees, availability of water, electricity hookups (if any), and other standard campground amenities like fire rings or picnic tables is not provided in the reviews, so local users should inquire directly with the park authorities for a comprehensive list of services.
The features of County Park are centered around its access to the water and its capacity to host different types of camping. The boat launches are a primary feature, facilitating access for fishing, tubing, and skiing on the lake when conditions are favorable (not too rough). The fishing is reported to be good, making it an attractive destination for anglers. The lake's suitability for tubing and skiing adds to its recreational appeal for those seeking more active water sports. The availability of a group campsite is a notable feature, allowing larger gatherings of families or friends to camp together. However, a significant drawback mentioned by a reviewer is the lack of a beach or a good swimming area. While children have attempted to swim by climbing down rocks, this has resulted in cuts and, on one occasion, leech encounters, indicating that the natural shoreline may not be ideal or safe for swimming. Despite this limitation, the park's beauty and the opportunities for boating and fishing remain key features that attract local users.
The provided reviews do not contain any information about specific promotional offers at County Park. As a county-run facility, it might have its fee structure set by the local government, and promotional discounts may not be common or widely advertised through user reviews. Local residents interested in camping or using the boat launch facilities at County Park should check the official Marinette County Parks and Recreation website or contact the relevant county department directly for information on current fees, seasonal passes (if available), or any potential discounts for local residents. It would also be prudent to inquire about any changes in fees or payment methods, as one reviewer noted a recent price increase for the boat launch and the exclusive acceptance of charge cards for those fees.
The address, 500 Bay Rd, Peshtigo, WI 54157, USA, indicates that County Park is located on Bay Road in Peshtigo, likely situated along a bay or lake, which aligns with the activities mentioned in the reviews (boat launching, fishing, tubing, skiing). This location provides a local recreational area for residents of Peshtigo and surrounding communities in Marinette County. The fact that people camp here regularly, both in regular sites and a group site, suggests its popularity among local users seeking 'camping near me'. The proximity to the water enhances its appeal for those interested in lake-based activities. However, the lack of a good swimming area is a factor that local families with young children might need to consider. Overall, the location on Bay Road offers a convenient natural escape with lake access for the local community.
In conclusion, County Park in Peshtigo, Wisconsin, offers a beautiful environment and decent facilities for local users seeking 'camping near me' with a focus on lake activities. Its key features include well-used boat launches, good fishing opportunities, and suitability for tubing and skiing. The availability of both regular and group campsites caters to different camping needs. However, potential visitors should be aware of the lack of a dedicated swimming beach and the reported issues with the bathrooms at the group site. The recent price increase for the boat launch and the charge card-only payment policy are also important considerations for those planning to use these facilities. For local residents looking for a scenic spot to camp and enjoy boating and fishing, County Park remains a viable option, despite its limitations regarding swimming and some facility maintenance aspects. Checking with Marinette County Parks and Recreation for the most up-to-date information on fees, services, and any potential local discounts is recommended.

County Park Reviews
We have camped here in their regular sites and in the group site. Facilities are decent... the bathrooms by the group site had a mouse :/ BUT it is still a nice place to go normally, and I would even go back again. We do use the boat launches here pretty regularly. Bummed that the price went from $5/daily to $7/daily ... up 40%! Really? They only take charge cards for boat launch fees, too. It's still beautiful and good fishing and fun for tubing/skiing when the lake is not too rough. Unfortunately, there is no beach or good swimming area. Our kids have climbed down the rocks and swam, but every time they get cuts (and leeches the last time, too!)
