Door County KOA Holiday Introduce
For local users exploring "camping near me" options in the popular Door County region of Wisconsin, Door County KOA Holiday, located in Brussels at 9245 Lovers Ln, Brussels, WI 54204, USA, presents itself as a potential choice. As part of the well-known Kampgrounds of America (KOA) network, it typically carries certain expectations regarding amenities and service. You can contact them at (920) 825-7065 or their mobile number, +1 920-825-7065, for inquiries and reservations.
However, it is crucial for prospective visitors to consider the experiences shared by recent customers, which present a somewhat mixed picture of what to expect at this particular KOA location. One review detailed a significantly negative experience, while another offered a positive perspective, particularly regarding the cabin accommodations.
The negative review highlighted several areas of concern. The initial interaction with an employee was described as unhelpful, with the staff member reportedly stating a lack of knowledge about the local area and continuing to wear headphones while speaking with the guest. This raises questions about the level of local information and assistance that may be readily available to visitors seeking recommendations for things to do in Door County, a region renowned for its attractions.
Furthermore, the overall friendliness of the employees was described as lacking, which the reviewer noted was atypical for their past experiences with KOA campgrounds. This suggests a potential inconsistency in service standards compared to other KOA locations. The condition of the grounds was also criticized, being labeled as "awful" and "not well kept." This could impact the overall aesthetic and comfort of the camping experience, potentially affecting the enjoyment of outdoor activities and the general ambiance of the campground.
The specific accommodation experienced by this reviewer also raised concerns. They mentioned that the bed in their lodging "sunk to the ground," indicating a potential issue with the quality and maintenance of the sleeping arrangements. This is a significant factor for ensuring a comfortable and restful stay.
Adding to the negative experience, the reviewer recounted an instance involving food service. An employee reportedly spoke highly of the pizza that would be served, leading the guests to purchase it for $15. However, the pizza turned out to be a frozen pizza, which the reviewer understandably felt was not worth the price. This incident suggests potential issues with the accuracy of information provided by staff and the value of food options available on-site.
Due to these negative experiences, the reviewer and their travel companions chose to leave the campground early and stay at a hotel instead, not even completing one night of their intended stay. Their attempt to obtain a full refund was reportedly unsuccessful due to the employee's lack of knowledge on how to process it, according to her own admission. This situation highlights potential issues with staff training and the handling of customer service matters, particularly refunds.
In contrast to this negative account, another reviewer shared a positive experience while staying at a Door County KOA cabin during a visit to Green Bay for the NFL Draft. They described the cabin as "clean and comfortable" and specifically praised the KOA staff as "very friendly and welcoming." This reviewer also noted that the cabin was "immaculate" and expressed their gratitude to the KOA staff. This positive feedback suggests that the quality of the cabin accommodations and the service experienced can vary.
The stark contrast between these two reviews indicates a potential inconsistency in the quality of service, grounds maintenance, and accommodation at the Door County KOA Holiday. While one guest found the cabin to be clean and the staff friendly, another experienced unfriendly staff, poorly maintained grounds, uncomfortable bedding, and misleading information about food options.
For local users considering Door County KOA Holiday for their "camping near me" needs, it is essential to weigh these contrasting experiences. If you are primarily interested in cabin rentals, the positive review suggests that these accommodations can be clean and comfortable, and some staff members may indeed be friendly and welcoming. However, if you are considering tent or RV camping, the negative review raises concerns about the upkeep of the grounds and the overall service level.
Given the limited information about the specific amenities offered at Door County KOA Holiday (beyond cabins and potentially RV/tent sites), it is advisable to contact the campground directly to inquire about features such as restroom and shower facilities, laundry, Wi-Fi access, recreational areas (e.g., playgrounds, swimming pools), fire pits, and picnic tables. Understanding the full range of amenities available will help local users determine if this campground meets their specific needs and expectations.
Similarly, no specific promotional information was included in the provided reviews. Local users should contact Door County KOA Holiday directly to inquire about any current special offers, seasonal rates, or discounts that may be available, especially for local residents or during off-peak seasons.
In conclusion, Door County KOA Holiday presents a mixed picture for local users seeking "camping near me." While some guests have found the cabin accommodations clean and the staff friendly, others have reported issues with unfriendly staff, poorly maintained grounds, uncomfortable lodging, and misleading information. Potential campers should be aware of these contrasting experiences and consider their priorities when making a decision. If cabin cleanliness and friendly staff are paramount, the positive review offers some reassurance. However, concerns about grounds maintenance and overall service quality, as highlighted in the negative review, should also be taken into consideration.
To make an informed decision, local users are strongly encouraged to contact Door County KOA Holiday directly at (920) 825-7065 or +1 920-825-7065 to ask specific questions about the current condition of the grounds, the quality of different types of accommodations, the level of local information and assistance provided by staff, and their policies regarding refunds and customer service. It would also be beneficial to inquire about any recent improvements or changes in management that might address the concerns raised in the negative review. By gathering current and detailed information, local campers can better assess whether Door County KOA Holiday aligns with their expectations for a "camping near me" experience in Door County.

Door County KOA Holiday Reviews
The first employee we spoke with said she knew nothing about the area when we asked for suggestions of things to do. And she never took off her headphones. Employees were not very friendly, overall, which has never been our experience at a KOA. The grounds were awful- not well kept. Our bed sunk to the ground. One employee spoke highly of the pizza they would be serving. It ended up being a frozen pizza that cost us $15. We left early and stayed at a hotel. We didn’t even stay one night. We did not receive a full refund because the employee was not knowledgeable in how to do so (per her admission).
May 04, 2025 · Alex LyonDuring our visit in Green Bay for the NFL Draft, we were staying at the Door County KOA cabin. It was clean and comfortable. The KOA staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the cabin was immaculate. Thank you so much, KOA Staff!
Apr 26, 2025 · John GarciaNormally we are far north middle of the woods campers and decided to go out of our comfort zone to camp here... and we were not disappointed! The food menu for the bar/grill part could of had more options.. but the guy bartending personally chose to stay open after hours and didn't have to. They had lots of fun for the kids and adults! All workers were great! Special shout out to the activities planner for the kids, the karaoke host, and the bartender..you guys rock! The people there were all very nice and welcoming including the permanent campers. There was one lady I wish I caught her name.. but she was so fun, even handed out adult trick or treats 🙂 I normally don't leave reviews and this time I had to! I even dropped my phone and within minutes it was turned into the office, very good people! We will definitely be visiting here again!!!
Oct 14, 2024 · Amber HolidayWe really enjoyed our stay at the Door County KOA. We had back in sites next to our friends with full hook ups. The lots were grassy, had mature trees and were very large, although not exactly private. The Bathroom/showers were the BEST I’ve ever seen at a campground. The individual shower/bathrooms were clean, air conditioned and within easy walking distance from our site. The three pools were large and decently clean. The issue is they were not heated. That made it not ideal for relaxing in the pool. I don’t believe they ever said it was, we just hoped it would be and didn’t use it more than once because it was too cold.Overall a great experience and we would stay again!
Aug 25, 2024 · Lynn SchroederThis is a magical country location right at the entrance to a popular tourism area in Wisconsin. The park is well kept with activities for kids and adults. Near the swimming pools there’s a little pub with pizza, drinks and a covered patio.
