Crabtree Falls Campgrounds Introduce
For local residents in and around Tyro, Virginia, seeking a "camping near me" experience immersed in natural beauty and offering access to stunning outdoor activities, Crabtree Falls Campgrounds, located at 11039 Crabtree Falls Hwy, Tyro, VA 22976, USA, appears to be an exceptional choice. Based on glowing customer reviews, this campground provides a serene and well-maintained environment, with features catering to tent campers, limited RVs, and those interested in cabin rentals, all while being conveniently located near picturesque hiking trails. For those in the "camping near me" category yearning for a relaxing getaway surrounded by nature, Crabtree Falls Campgrounds warrants strong consideration.
Local inquiries and bookings can be made by contacting the campground directly at (540) 377-2066 or the mobile number +1 540-377-2066. This direct line allows local users to inquire about site availability, specific amenities for different types of camping (tent, RV, cabin), and any seasonal information. The friendly and helpful nature of the staff, particularly Sue as mentioned in a review, suggests that local campers can expect a welcoming and supportive experience from the moment of contact.
The environment of Crabtree Falls Campgrounds is consistently praised for its natural beauty. Reviewers describe it as "heavenly and absolutely wonderful," a "truly a hidden gem" surrounded by breathtaking nature. The sound of the "rolling river right next to our tent" is highlighted as a particularly memorable and soothing aspect, promising a tranquil auditory backdrop for a local camping experience. The campground is described as "completely overtaken by nature and feeling untouched by humans" while still being "clean and well maintained," striking a perfect balance for those seeking an immersive yet comfortable "camping near me" option.
For tent campers in the local area, Crabtree Falls Campgrounds seems particularly well-suited. One group of six found their two tent sites to be spacious, offering "plenty of space" for large tents, chairs, tables, and cooking areas, while still allowing for convenient parking nearby but out of sight. The proximity to neighbors was not an issue for this group, suggesting a comfortable level of spacing. The experience of falling asleep to the sound of the river is a unique feature that elevates this campground for local tent enthusiasts seeking a sensory-rich "camping near me" escape.
While cell service is reported as non-existent within the campground, this is mitigated by the availability of Wi-Fi at the camp store, which is just a short walk away. This allows local campers to disconnect from the digital world while still having access to communication when needed, providing a balanced experience for those who might have occasional connectivity requirements during their "camping near me" trip.
A significant feature for local outdoor enthusiasts is the campground's proximity to "the most beautiful hikes," as recommended by the owners. This suggests that Crabtree Falls Campgrounds serves as an excellent basecamp for exploring the natural wonders of the surrounding area. The willingness of the staff to provide local recommendations further enhances the experience for those seeking adventure and exploration during their "camping near me" getaway.
For RV campers, the information is a bit more limited. One reviewer mentioned "3 small RV sites with full hookups." This indicates that while RV camping is an option, the number of sites is limited, and they might be more suitable for smaller RVs. The reviewer noted some initial uncertainty about pulling in but was accommodated due to no other reservations. Local RV owners should inquire in advance about the suitability of their rig for the available sites and any specific parking instructions.
Cabin rentals are also mentioned as potentially "the best spot of the area" with "the best views of the water." However, the reviewer noted that the cabins appeared to be "a tad on top of each other." This suggests that while the views might be exceptional, local users seeking more privacy in a cabin setting might want to inquire further about the layout and spacing of the cabins.
The campground offers practical amenities such as firewood available at the office and a small shop for basic necessities. Bathrooms are available, although one reviewer described them as "very soggy, humid and wet," which might be a consideration for some local campers, particularly tent campers who rely on these facilities. Laundry facilities were also spotted but not used, indicating another convenience for longer stays.
Navigating the campground entrance and exit is described as "tight with the path narrow," but manageable as long as cabin occupants park their vehicles correctly. Local users should be mindful of this when arriving and departing, especially with larger vehicles or trailers.
There is no specific promotional information mentioned in the reviews. Local residents interested in Crabtree Falls Campgrounds should contact them directly to inquire about any seasonal rates, weekday specials, or discounts for local residents. Given the popularity and positive reviews, it would also be wise to inquire about booking in advance, especially during peak seasons or weekends, to secure a spot at this highly-regarded "camping near me" destination.
In conclusion, for local residents in the Tyro, VA region seeking a "camping near me" experience that combines stunning natural beauty, the soothing sounds of a river, access to excellent hiking, and a welcoming atmosphere, Crabtree Falls Campgrounds appears to be an outstanding choice. Whether opting for a tent site immersed in the woods, one of the limited RV spots, or a cabin with water views, local campers are likely to find a relaxing and memorable getaway. The friendly staff, the well-maintained grounds, and the proximity to natural attractions further enhance its appeal. Local users are encouraged to contact Crabtree Falls Campgrounds directly to book their stay and experience this "hidden gem" for themselves.

Crabtree Falls Campgrounds Reviews
We spent the most heavenly and absolutely wonderful weekend at crab tree falls campground! We had a group of 6 and booked 2 tent sites to share and ended up with plenty of space between the both of them for 2 large tents, chairs around the fire, tables, hanging out, and making food. Our site neighbors were close by but this didn’t bother us! We were able to park our cars conveniently close but still out of sight and out of the way. There was no cell service but this wasn’t a problem at all because if we needed to get in contact with anyone it was just a short walk up to the camp store where we could connect to wifi. The owners made this an unforgettable experience by recommending the most beautiful hikes just a short drive from the campground. Thank you Sue! She was so welcoming and took such good care of us! The campground was so perfect we didn’t want to leave but we were glad that we spent a day out exploring! We just loved this area of Virginia! Truly a hidden gem. We were blown away by the beauty of the nature surrounding us. Falling asleep to the sound of the rolling river right next to our tent is an experience I’ll be chasing for the rest of my life!I can for sure say that this is the best campground I’ve ever been to! Clean and well maintained while still being completely overtaken by nature and feeling untouched by humans. The perfect relaxing get away. Thank you crab tree falls!
Apr 28, 2025 · Grace WhitemanOverall great experience. I had 0 cel signal which was definitely nice but I did worry about any emergencies. 3 small RV sites with full hookups. I wasn't really sure how to pull in but was told in advance no others reserved a space so I was free to park however. They have plenty of firewood available at the office and a little shop. The cabins looked to be the best spot of the area but they are a tad on top of each other but with the best views of the water. Tent sites were nice from what I could tell as well. Office front desk was very nice and helpful. Bathrooms were available but very soggy, humid and wet but hardly a concern for myself with a camper. I did spot laundry but did not use but that's nice to have available. The site is tight with the entrance and exit path narrow but no issue as long as someone at the cabins parks correctly with their vehicle. I would definitely consider this site again!
Apr 09, 2024 · Phillip SpencerBeautiful camping spot right by the water. Clean bathrooms and enough space between campsites for it to feel private. No cell service, so prepare for that. Highly recommend.
Nov 03, 2024 · Gretchen MoralesGreat cabins on the river. Very peaceful (mid week). Bring everything you need, 20 minutes to the nearest anything. Camp store has wood and ice anytime which is a huge plus. The falls are awesome.
Aug 25, 2024 · Pamela MellerCampsite was good. Bathrooms are somewhat clean. Would have liked them cleaned more often. On our weekend, there were tons of kids running around all day and well into the night. Flashlights shining in our eyes while sitting at the campfire. Teenagers up late at night, walking back-and-forth with bright lanterns at 2am. Location is great. Loved the river. The store has firewood and bags of ice.
