For local users seeking a memorable outdoor getaway in the heart of Virginia, this campground offers a compelling blend of natural beauty, spacious campsites, and the unparalleled convenience of being within walking distance of the Devils Backbone Brewpub. You can reach them at (540) 817-9708 or +1 540-817-9708 for inquiries and reservations.
Stunning Views and Atmosphere:
Devils Backbone Camp is lauded for its exceptional views and overall atmosphere, which are consistently rated as "A+." The location in Roseland, Virginia, near the Blue Ridge Parkway, suggests a setting amidst rolling hills, scenic vistas, and a generally picturesque environment. Campers can expect to be surrounded by the natural beauty of the region, providing a tranquil and visually appealing backdrop for their outdoor adventure. The atmosphere is described as being top-notch, likely contributing to a relaxed and enjoyable camping experience.
Spacious Campsites with Ample Tree Coverage:
A significant advantage of Devils Backbone Camp is the spaciousness of most of its campsites. Reviewers note that the majority of sites are "very spacious," offering plenty of room for setting up tents, RVs, and enjoying outdoor activities around the campsite. Additionally, the campground boasts "great tree coverage from the sun," which is particularly beneficial during warmer months, providing shade and a more comfortable camping environment. While there are a "few smaller ones," the overall impression is of well-sized and shaded camping areas.
Convenient Walk to Devils Backbone Brewpub:
One of the most unique and highly appreciated features of Devils Backbone Camp is its proximity to the Devils Backbone Brewpub. Campers can enjoy the exceptional convenience of being able to "walk from our site to the brew pub." This offers a fantastic opportunity to sample local craft beers, enjoy a meal, and experience the lively atmosphere of the brewery without having to drive. This amenity significantly enhances the appeal of the campground, particularly for those who appreciate good food and craft beverages.
Full Hook-Up RV Spots with Minor Inconvenience:
For RV travelers, Devils Backbone Camp offers "RV Full Hook-up spots," providing the convenience of water, electric, and sewer connections at the campsite. However, one reviewer noted a minor inconvenience related to the placement of these connections at odd-numbered spots. If you have an odd-numbered spot, the water and electric connections are located on the front side of your camper, which might require some adjustment in setup depending on your RV configuration. Despite this, the overall stay at the full hook-up spots is described as "great."
Proximity to Bathroom Facilities:
The campground is designed with convenience in mind, as highlighted by the fact that "the walk to the bathroom is close no matter what premium tent site you’re at." This ensures that tent campers have relatively easy access to restroom facilities, which is a significant comfort, especially during the night or for families with young children.
Limited Selection at the Camp Store:
One area for potential improvement mentioned by a reviewer is the limited selection at the camp store. While the store offers essential items like "ice and fire wood," it lacks more miscellaneous items that campers might need, such as "batteries, flash lights or even stuff to make s’mores." Campers are advised to pack these types of items in advance as they might not be readily available at the campground store.
Limited Men's Room Stalls:
Another minor drawback mentioned in a review is the limited number of stalls in the men's restroom. With only "2 stalls in the men's room," the reviewer's husband and brother experienced waiting in line to use the bathroom. This suggests that during peak times, the men's restroom facilities might become congested. The availability of facilities in the women's restroom is not mentioned in the provided reviews.
Easy to Find Location with Nearby Activities:
Devils Backbone Camp is described as "Easy to find," making it a convenient destination for local users and travelers alike. Furthermore, the location offers "a lot of activities around," suggesting that campers have access to various attractions and recreational opportunities in the surrounding area. Given its proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway, these activities could include scenic drives, hiking trails, overlooks, and other natural and cultural attractions.
Why Choose Devils Backbone Camp for Your "Camping Near Me" Adventure:
Devils Backbone Camp offers a unique and appealing "camping near me" experience with several key advantages:
- Spectacular Scenic Views: Enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the Virginia landscape.
- Direct Access to Devils Backbone Brewpub: A unique and convenient amenity for craft beer enthusiasts.
- Spacious and Shady Campsites: Comfortable camping with ample room and sun protection.

While the camp store has a limited selection and the men's restroom has only two stalls, the overall positive reviews and unique amenities make Devils Backbone Camp a highly recommended destination. Local users are encouraged to contact them directly at (540) 817-9708 or +1 540-817-9708 to inquire about campsite availability, specific site features, and any current rates or promotions. Given its popularity, especially due to the brewery access, booking in advance is highly recommended. Devils Backbone Camp Reviews
Overall our stay at one of the RV Full Hook-up spots was great. The views the atmosphere all A+. Only reason four stars instead of 5 is that if you have an odd numbered spot your water & electric connections are on the front side of your camper, and there are only 2 stalls in the men's room. My husband and brother kept having to wait in line to use the bathroom.
Oct 28, 2024 · Stacey HowerGreat campground. Easy to find and a lot of activities around. Loved being able to walk from our site to the brew pub. I wish their camp store sold more miscellaneous items besides ice and fire wood like batteries, flash lights or even stuff to make s’mores. Besides that most of the sites are very spacious, there are a few smaller ones but all have great tree coverage from the sun. The walk to the bathroom is close no matter what premium tent site you’re at. Highly recommended!
Aug 06, 2024 · Anastasia ConradI stayed at this site for two nights and the first time was fairly annoying considering the proximity to other campers that the sites are at. We could hear people throughout the entire night until around 1-2am despite the fact that there were so few people in the camp. Definitely a bit crowded for my taste as far as campsites go. But, the facilities are fine and the proximity to the Devils Backbone Basecamp Brewery makes it nice. However, all things considered it would be a pain to go when the site is booked. I doubt you would be able to get any good rest if you tried unless the guests around you decide to actually be considerate.
Apr 02, 2024 · Ryan RiffleGreat location, facilities are top notch. Everything was clean. Great showers. I was tent camping, so I didn’t use any of the RV facilities. The only negative is the dining experience. The food was good, but the ordering system needs to be scrapped. If everything is done via phone app, reading menu, ordering, and paying, why do they ask for a tip? Not a good system.
Jun 21, 2024 · Ron CesarettiClean bathhouse and facilities. Quiet grounds. Slips are a little small but they were enough for our fifth wheel and truck and two tents! Love the proximity to the brewery!
