You can easily reach them for inquiries or reservations at (888) 562-0743 or their mobile number, +1 888-562-0743. Based on feedback from recent visitors in March 2025, this campground offers a prime location with easy access to a wealth of local points of interest.
One of the standout features highlighted by guests is its proximity to several key attractions. Nature lovers will appreciate the short drive to Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, where you can observe Florida's diverse wildlife, including manatees. For those seeking sun and sand, Fort Island beach offers a nearby coastal escape. History buffs can explore the Crystal River Archaeological State Park (Indian mounds), providing a glimpse into the region's rich past. Additionally, the campground's location ensures convenient access to local restaurants and shopping opportunities, making it easy to stock up on supplies or enjoy a meal out.
The campground itself boasts several appealing features. A significant highlight is the "beautiful 24/7 pool" accompanied by ample seating, including chairs, floats, and umbrellas, perfect for relaxation and recreation at any time. Another notable amenity is the "free breakfast offerings," a convenient way to start your day before heading out to explore or simply enjoying the campground. Guests have also mentioned the presence of a "nice breakfast room" where this complimentary service is provided.
For those who enjoy a campfire experience, Crystal River KOA Journey offers "several fire pit areas with nice seating," creating a communal space for evening gatherings and storytelling under the stars. Furthermore, members of the KOA rewards program can benefit from savings, as one reviewer mentioned saving 10% with their membership.
While the campground is relatively new and offers many positives, some guests have pointed out a few areas for consideration. Due to its recent establishment, the campground currently has "few trees for shade," which might be a factor during the hotter months. Navigational aspects within the campground include "sharp turns from sites to the main road," and all internal roads are one-way. Some guests noted "road noise up front," suggesting that sites located further back might offer a quieter and more private experience. It's worth noting that the campground does not currently offer "propane refills" on-site, and accessing the bathrooms requires exiting the property via the one-way roads and taking the main road. Additionally, some guests found the "shower stalls are tight."
Despite these minor drawbacks, the overall sentiment from visitors is overwhelmingly positive. One family who camped with friends for four nights praised the "helpful and super friendly" staff, who were accommodating in placing their group together. They noted that while the campground was "busy," it wasn't excessively crowded. The cleanliness of the facilities was consistently mentioned, with one reviewer stating, "This is a brand new campground and there is no tree cover. Everything is clean and the sights are level and very nice." Families with children will appreciate the positive feedback regarding the pool, with one guest stating, "Our kids loved the pool." The general consensus is that many visitors, like the initial reviewer, "would definitely stay here again."
In summary, Crystal River KOA Journey presents a compelling option for those searching for "camping near me." Its strategic location provides easy access to a variety of attractions, including Homosassa Springs, Fort Island beach, and the Crystal River Archaeological State Park. The campground offers appealing amenities such as a beautiful pool open 24/7, complimentary breakfast, and communal fire pit areas. While it is a new campground with limited shade and some navigational considerations, the clean facilities, level sites, and friendly staff contribute to a positive camping experience. Whether you're planning a family vacation, an RV adventure, or a simple weekend getaway, Crystal River KOA Journey offers a promising base for exploring the Crystal River area. Take advantage of the KOA rewards program for potential savings and book your stay today to experience this welcoming campground firsthand.

Crystal River KOA Journey Reviews
We stayed 3 nights in March 2025 and enjoyed being close to Homosassa Springs, Fort Island beach, restaurants, shopping and Crystal River archaeological park (Indian mounds). Very clean and friendly campground. We will return!Pros: beautiful 24/7 pool with many chairs, floats, umbrellas. Free breakfast offerings. Didn’t see any full timers here. Nice breakfast room. Several fire pit areas with nice seating. We saved 10% with KOA rewards program.Cons: few trees for shade, sharp turns from sites to main road-all one way, road noise up front but quieter and more private by the back-in sites, no propane refills, must exit property (one way roads) and take main road to drive around to the bathrooms. Shower stalls are tight.
Mar 28, 2025 · Denise Fischer HayesMy family camped here along with friends for 4 nights. The staff were helpful and super friendly! They were able to place us and our friends next to each other. The camp ground was busy but nothing crazy. This is a brand new campground and there is no tree cover. Everything is clean and the sights are level and very nice. Our kids loved the pool. I would definitely stay here again.
Mar 24, 2025 · Mark BatemanGreat campground awesome workers. The entrance curb is not very well done though. Not sure how that got screwed up on a new place it's like your driving over a actual curb so turn slow. And no a curb is no reason to look anywhere else this place was excellent. I could ride my bike right into town.
Apr 23, 2025 · Jason ParkerWe stayed two nights at this brand new KOA. We were very warmly welcomed by the manager. Because this KOA has only recently opened they are still working hard to get the finishing touches done. The advantage is that everything is still super new and beautiful. The disadvantage is that this campground still needs to grow a "soul". Also, there are no sites with shade yet. The trees have been planted but they still have to grow to provide some shade. There are fun weekly activities and every day you can enjoy a simple complimentary breakfast with good coffee. Highly recommended if only because of the friendly staff!
Aug 02, 2024 · Stefan ConijnSpent 5 nights here in late March 2025 on way south. Campground is brand new and well laid out. Roads are paved, sites are gravel, but fairly level. Great location and nice amenities, including coffee and bagels (or cereal) each morning.
