The area is also described as "peaceful and quiet," offering a welcome respite from the noise of urban life. Interestingly, the reviews mention two "huge abandoned quarries" located alongside the trail, largely concealed by tree growth, presenting a unique element of exploration for visitors. It's also noted that there is ongoing logging activity in some parts of the area, which has resulted in some forest being "mostly gone," indicating that the landscape may present a contrast between undisturbed old growth and areas undergoing forestry management. The mention of "four mini corrals for horses" within the campground strongly suggests that overnight camping is permitted and that facilities cater to those traveling with horses. The abundance of "hitching posts" at the trailhead further supports this. For those without horses, the positive review from a camper van user who enjoyed the "peace and quiet and views" indicates that the campground accommodates other types of camping as well. The availability of "many trails and forest service roads" suggests that trail maintenance is a service provided to ensure these areas are accessible for hiking and horseback riding. However, details regarding amenities like restrooms, water sources, or electrical hookups for RVs are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, so it's advisable to contact the recreational area directly for specific information on these services.

Bearhead Hammock Recreational Area Reviews
We hiked some of the many trails and forest service roads. This is obviously a very popular horse area. Hitching posts abundant at the trailhead and the campground actually has four mini corrals for horses if you are camping overnight. There are two huge abandoned quarries that are right alongside the trail but virtually invisible because of tree growth. We will be back to explore these quarries. Lots of logging currently so some of the forest is mostly gone but still lots of old Florida forest with huge live oaks.
Jan 24, 2021 · Thomas BowenWhat a great spot! We are camping here for one night in a camper van and the peace and quiet and views are amazing. Kind of wish we were staying longer.
Mar 17, 2025 · Marcy BrownFolkow the blue markers. Very nice trail. Saw deer and lots of small wildlife.
Mar 21, 2023 · lauren kronzThere are only 3 campsites. All are dry camping with horse stalls. We didn't have horses, so we put our bikes in the corral. Great riding/hiking trail. Only gave it 4 stars because they are clearing the lot in front of campground so now you can see and hear traffic. Still very quiet to unplug and relax.
