Cub World Trading Post Introduce
For local families and youth leaders in the Edwardsville, Kansas area exploring "camping near me," Cub World Trading Post, located on Camp Naish Rd, Edwardsville, KS 66111, USA, appears to be associated with the larger Camp Naish Boy Scout facility. However, a recent customer review provides some critical feedback regarding the conditions encountered during a camping trip, which potential visitors should carefully consider. This introduction aims to present an objective overview of what can be gleaned about the environment, services, and features of Cub World Trading Post based on this review, while acknowledging the limited scope of information.
The Environment and Setting within Camp Naish
Given its location on Camp Naish Rd, it's highly likely that Cub World Trading Post is situated within the broader natural environment of Camp Naish. This would typically involve a setting conducive to outdoor activities, such as wooded areas, open spaces, and potentially access to water features. As part of a Boy Scout camp, the environment is likely geared towards providing opportunities for hiking, camping, and nature-based learning experiences for youth. The "Trading Post" designation might suggest a central area within the camp, possibly serving as a point of contact, a small store, or a gathering place.
However, the specific review focuses on the conditions experienced during a camping trip, indicating that the environment also presented some challenges. The mention of a significant tick infestation ("way worse than a lot of other places," with "over 30 on us") is a critical environmental factor that potential visitors should be aware of, especially during warmer months when ticks are typically more prevalent. This suggests that precautions against ticks, such as using insect repellent, wearing appropriate clothing, and conducting thorough tick checks, would be essential for anyone considering camping at this location.
Services and Facilities – Concerns Raised by a Review
The sole customer review provides concerning feedback regarding the availability and condition of bathroom facilities at Cub World Trading Post. The reviewer noted that "none of the bathrooms had toilet paper except the main ones which were the complete opposite of where we were." This suggests a significant inconvenience and a lack of basic supplies in at least some of the restroom facilities accessible to campers. Furthermore, the reviewer described these "main" bathrooms as "pretty dang gross," to the extent that their children "wouldn't even pee in the other bathrooms." This raises serious concerns about the cleanliness and maintenance of the hygiene facilities at the campground.
The review also implies the existence of multiple bathroom locations, with a distinction made between "main ones" and "other bathrooms" that were even less appealing to use. This suggests a potentially spread-out camping area where access to adequately stocked and clean restrooms might be limited depending on the campsite's location. The lack of positive comments about other services or facilities might indicate that the primary focus of this camper's experience was the negative state of the bathrooms and the tick issue.
It's important to note that this is just one review, and conditions can change. However, for local users considering camping at Cub World Trading Post, these comments serve as a significant warning and highlight areas that might require further investigation before making a decision.
Features – Potential and Reported Issues
Based on its association with a Boy Scout camp, Cub World Trading Post likely has features designed to support youth camping, such as campsites, potential fire rings, and possibly program areas. The "Trading Post" itself might be a feature offering supplies or acting as a central point within the camp. However, the review focuses on two key negative features encountered by the camper:
- Inadequate and Unsanitary Bathroom Facilities: The lack of toilet paper in some bathrooms and the "gross" condition of the main ones are significant negative features that could severely impact the camping experience.
- Severe Tick Infestation: The reported high number of ticks presents a health and safety concern for campers.
These reported issues overshadow any potential positive features that might be present at the campground. Local users would need to weigh these concerns heavily when considering this location for their "camping near me" needs.
Promotional Information and Cautions for Local Users
Given the negative feedback in the only available review, it is challenging to provide positive promotional information for Cub World Trading Post to local users at this time. Instead, it is crucial to highlight the potential issues raised and advise caution to those considering camping here.
- Potential Bathroom Issues: Local users should be aware of the reported lack of toilet paper in some restrooms and the uncleanliness of others. If adequate and sanitary bathroom facilities are a priority, this campground might not meet those needs based on this review.
- Significant Tick Hazard: The reported severe tick infestation is a serious concern. Campers should be prepared to take extensive precautions against ticks and be aware of the risks associated with tick-borne diseases.
- Limited Positive Information: The absence of positive feedback in the review makes it difficult to recommend this location without further investigation or more recent, positive reports.
Recommendations for Local Users Considering Cub World Trading Post
Local residents in Edwardsville, KS, who are considering Cub World Trading Post for "camping near me" should take the following steps before making a decision:
- Seek Additional Reviews: Look for more recent reviews or feedback from other campers to see if the conditions reported in this review are isolated incidents or ongoing issues. Check camping forums, social media, or other online review platforms.
- Contact Camp Naish Directly: Reach out to the management of Camp Naish (which likely oversees Cub World Trading Post) to inquire about the current status of the bathroom facilities and tick control measures. Ask for assurances regarding cleanliness and safety.
- Consider Alternatives: Explore other campgrounds or camping facilities in the Edwardsville and surrounding areas that have more consistently positive reviews, especially regarding hygiene and pest control.
- Prepare Thoroughly if Choosing to Camp: If you do decide to camp at Cub World Trading Post despite the review, be extremely well-prepared for ticks with strong repellents, appropriate clothing, and a plan for frequent and thorough tick checks. Also, carry your own supply of toilet paper and hand sanitizer, and be prepared for potentially unsanitary restroom conditions.
In conclusion, while Cub World Trading Post is located within the Camp Naish facility and might offer a natural environment suitable for youth camping, a recent customer review raises significant concerns about the cleanliness and maintenance of bathroom facilities, as well as a severe tick infestation. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider these potential issues and seek further information before choosing this location for their camping needs. It would be prudent to prioritize campgrounds with more positive and recent feedback regarding essential amenities and safety.

Cub World Trading Post Reviews
Went here for capming with my cub scout, so glad we didn't end up doing the overnight. None of the bathrooms had toilet paper except the main ones which were the complete opposite of where we were. And they were pretty dang gross. My son's wouldn't even pee in the other bathrooms. The ticks there are way worse than a lot of other places as well. We had over 30 on us.
