You can reach them at (478) 994-7945 or +1 478-994-7945. Based on recent visitor feedback, Dames Ferry Campground presents a blend of scenic beauty and essential amenities, making it a noteworthy option for various camping preferences.
One reviewer, Mike and Cheryl, who traveled in a 44-foot Class A RV, provided a detailed account of their stay, offering valuable insights for fellow RV enthusiasts and other campers. They noted that the road to the campground was easily accessible, with only a slight busyness while driving through Macon. The road within the campground was reported to be paved and in good condition, ensuring a smooth entry and navigation for even larger vehicles. A significant positive mentioned was that all the trees within the campground were well-trimmed, which is crucial for the safe maneuvering and parking of RVs.
The check-in process was described as straightforward, taking place at a small office at the entrance, where the staff was reported to be friendly. While there is no designated parking at the entrance, the process seems efficient enough for a quick stop to register. An important observation for those seeking a long-term camping spot is that the campground does not have seasonal campers, suggesting a more transient and open atmosphere.
Navigating the campground appears to be easy, thanks to good signage. Regarding specific campsites, Site 10 was mentioned as having a gravel pad but being significantly unlevel. Despite this, it was equipped with a table and a fire pit, essential elements for a comfortable camping experience. The standout feature of Site 10, however, was its "fantastic" view, indicating that some sites offer particularly scenic vistas that might outweigh minor inconveniences like an unlevel pad. Site spacing was also rated as "very good," implying that campers can expect a reasonable amount of privacy and space between sites.
In terms of facilities, Dames Ferry Campground boasts a "nice" bathhouse and a "nice" laundry room, addressing essential needs for campers, especially those on longer trips. It's worth noting that the campground does not have a swimming pool; however, it compensates with access to a lake, providing opportunities for water-based activities, although specific details about lake access and activities are not provided in the reviews.
The campground does not offer a clubhouse or a fitness area, suggesting a more nature-focused camping experience rather than one with extensive recreational buildings. The grounds themselves were described as "good," indicating a well-maintained overall environment.
For those relying on technology, the over-the-air TV antenna reception was reported as good at Site 10. However, a significant drawback mentioned was the absence of Wi-Fi, which might be a consideration for campers who need internet access during their stay.
Summarizing their experience, Mike and Cheryl acknowledged the unlevelness of their site as the primary negative aspect, but the exceptional view prompted them to state they "would come back," highlighting the strong appeal of the campground's natural setting. They concluded with the sentiment "Dream Big, Travel Far, Live Well," reflecting a positive overall camping experience.
Another reviewer described Dames Ferry Campground as a "small nice campground, right off a main road," indicating convenient access. They also pointed out the proximity to various attractions, including the Macon Museum of Arts and Sciences (which they accessed for free with a library pass), the Whistle Stop Cafe, and the dam. This suggests that the campground's location offers a blend of natural tranquility and easy access to local points of interest, catering to campers who enjoy exploring the surrounding area.
This second reviewer stayed at Site 12, which they described as a "nice easy pull thru that faced water." Pull-thru sites are particularly advantageous for RVers as they simplify parking and departure. The fact that Site 12 faced the water further emphasizes the scenic appeal of the campground. They noted that it was windy and cold on their last night but still found the experience enjoyable, indicating resilience to varying weather conditions and a positive overall impression of the campground.
Considering the platform category of 'camping near me', Dames Ferry Campground in Juliette, GA, appears to be a well-located option offering scenic lake views, essential amenities like a clean bathhouse and laundry room, and convenient access to local attractions. The availability of pull-thru sites caters well to RVers, and the positive feedback regarding the friendly service and overall environment suggests a pleasant camping experience. While some sites might be unlevel and Wi-Fi is not available, the natural beauty and convenient location seem to be significant drawcards for visitors.
For local users seeking a lakeside camping experience with good site spacing and proximity to attractions, Dames Ferry Campground warrants consideration. It would be beneficial to inquire about the levelness of specific sites when booking, especially for RVs requiring a level surface. The absence of Wi-Fi should also be factored in based on individual connectivity needs. The positive reviews regarding the cleanliness and scenic views, however, paint a picture of a worthwhile 'camping near me' destination in the Juliette area.
To obtain more specific information about site availability, lake access, and any current promotions for local campers, it is recommended to contact Dames Ferry Campground directly at the provided phone numbers. Exploring their website or any online booking platforms might also offer additional details and visuals of the campground and its amenities.
In conclusion, Dames Ferry Campground offers local users a charming lakeside camping experience with convenient access and essential facilities. The positive feedback regarding its scenic views, clean amenities, and friendly service makes it a strong contender for those searching for 'camping near me' in Juliette, GA. While some minor drawbacks like unlevel sites and no Wi-Fi exist, the overall appeal of the natural setting and convenient location to local attractions makes it a campground worth exploring for your next outdoor adventure.

Apr 21, 2025 · James FrazierSmall nice campground, right off a main road and plenty to do around it. We went to Macon museum of arts and sciences free with pass from our library, hit whistle stop Cafe and enjoyed the dam. We were site 12 which was a nice easy pull thru that faced water. It was windy and cold our last night but still enjoyable.
Jan 22, 2025 · Jonathan levanI stayed at site #24 and must admit this has became my go to campground. The park is peaceful, safe and quiet. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. The staff was very informative and pleasant.
Apr 03, 2025 · Joe BryanNice quiet campground and the sites are fairly spread out. We were on Site 8 next to the lake that was a little short and there's a tree that keeps you from extending your awning more than 4 feet. It was really windy so the awning wasn't an issue.
Apr 15, 2024 · Tona Morgan36 sites, some on the lakefront, most have some shade. 3-4 pull through, the remaining back-ins. There are two handicap sites located near the two bathroom/shower facilities. There is a nice children's playground. The office has a limited selection of camping and grocery items, and the nearest shopping facility is 8-9 miles on 23. The park has kayak rentals. Very pretty park. Has a visitors' day park and boat ramp. Motorized boats with greater than 10hp motors are not permitted. All sites have a fire ring and a separate food grill. Fire wood available to purchase $ 7.50 a bundle. If you have a Georgia patk membership, you'll receive a 10% discount.
