The grounds guy is kinda mean, he thinks he owns the river and without looking to see if you've paid to drive thru their gate to get to river,he comes sliding in on his four wheeler screaming at you to pay and or get out..I had already paid, I was down there for a few minutes and left. He kinda made me not want to be there . I've been going to that river spot for YEARS MANY YEARS, and now if I go like I did before, id have to pay100 $ a month to go hang out at the river..I thought that you don't own the river up to the high water mark. That you could walk up rivers as long as you stayed below the high water mark. does anyone know if that is true? All of dean creaks river beaches are under the high water mark so as long as you don't go thru d.c property to get to river( by the bridge to the dump is a good spot) he can't say anything to you . This town is going to crap in a handbag . It would be cool to go back to my watering hole again, and not be attacked by someone who isn't even a longtime local. I've been going there since the 1970s, never had a problem til now, it really sucks..but I guess some people have God complexes and enjoy making people miserable. Other than that dean creak rocks! Have a nice day! - Candy Geurin

Its proximity to the famed Avenue of the Giants, a scenic alternative to Highway 101 that winds through ancient redwood groves, places it in a prime location for nature enthusiasts. The most significant natural feature of the resort is its direct access to the Eel River, which includes a "swimming hole" that has been a long-standing attraction for visitors. While the river access has undergone changes regarding property boundaries and public versus private use, the river itself remains a key environmental draw for the area. The resort grounds are likely well-maintained, creating a pleasant setting for all types of campers and guests. The presence of trees and open spaces contributes to the relaxed ambiance. The environment is designed to offer both a peaceful retreat and easy access to regional attractions. These cabins are described as sleeping four (with bunk beds), and importantly, they include a "fridge, microwave and AC," providing more comfort than a basic tent. Guests staying in sleeper cabins are advised to "bring your own blankets and pillows," indicating a more self-sufficient style of accommodation. The resort also operates as a motel, offering traditional room accommodations for those seeking a more conventional stay. Beyond lodging, Dean Creek Resort provides a swimming pool, a highly valued amenity, especially during warmer months, offering a refreshing way to relax. The staff is consistently praised for taking "very good care of their guests," which speaks to a strong commitment to customer service. The presence of "office cats, Cashew and Peaches," adds a unique, friendly, and welcoming touch, making the office a more inviting space for guests. The swimming pool is a major draw, especially in the summer. Direct access to the Eel River, with its "swimming hole," is a significant natural feature, though it's important for guests to understand current access policies. The resort’s location along Redwood Drive positions it perfectly for exploring the majestic redwood forests of the Avenue of the Giants. While one review notes "the beds are a little squeaky" in the cabins, the overall positive feedback suggests that the comfort and features outweigh minor inconveniences. The colorful and vibrant ambiance of the resort, described as a "great colorful place," contributes to a memorable and enjoyable stay. For those with pets, the resort's pet-friendly nature is an important feature, allowing animal companions to join the adventure, though specific rules would apply. The combination of varied lodging and a wide array of on-site recreational features makes Dean Creek Resort a dynamic and engaging place to stay for diverse travelers.
