The environment at Hidden Springs Campground is undeniably one of its most compelling features. Situated along the iconic Avenue of the Giants, the campground is enveloped by the awe-inspiring beauty of ancient redwood forests. The towering trees create a naturally shaded and tranquil atmosphere, providing a much-needed respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The air is fresh, and the sounds of nature are abundant, making it an ideal setting for relaxation and rejuvenation. As one satisfied camper enthusiastically shared, "We loved this campground. It’s a beautiful area." The natural beauty extends beyond the immediate campsites, with ample opportunities to explore the surrounding landscape. The campground itself is meticulously maintained, contributing to its overall aesthetic appeal. The proprietors have clearly invested in preserving the natural charm of the area while ensuring it remains welcoming and accessible to all.
Hidden Springs Campground prides itself on offering a range of services and features that enhance the camping experience. A key highlight, frequently lauded by visitors, is the exceptional cleanliness and spaciousness of the restrooms and showers. As a real customer noted, "The restrooms/showers were clean and spacious," a detail that significantly contributes to a comfortable stay, particularly for those seeking more than just a rustic experience. This dedication to cleanliness extends throughout the entire facility, reflecting the owners' commitment to maintaining a high standard. One of the most distinctive and reassuring features of Hidden Springs Campground is its gated entrance. This provides an enhanced sense of security for all campers and their belongings, truly making it feel "like a diamond in the rough, very safe with a gated entrance." This feature is particularly valuable for families or those traveling with valuable equipment, offering peace of mind throughout their stay. The campground offers various site types, with "Hidden Springs Camp (sites 1-38, 51-78)" being available. While specific details on services like hookups (water, electricity, sewer) are not explicitly provided in the available information, the overall high standard of the facilities suggests a well-equipped campground capable of accommodating diverse camping needs. The positive reviews regarding the owners' management ("The owners kept it so nice and ran it very well") further underscore the commitment to providing excellent service.
Beyond the immediate comforts of the campsites, Hidden Springs Campground offers ample opportunities for recreation and engagement. Many visitors come to enjoy the myriad of outdoor activities available in the surrounding area. One enthusiastic reviewer highlighted their daily trips to "Rocky Gap" and their enjoyment of the "5 mile lake trail." These nearby attractions provide fantastic opportunities for hiking, nature walks, and immersing oneself in the natural beauty of the region. Even within the campground, there are opportunities for exercise and exploration, as one camper mentioned walking "the full camp area for exercise too which was plenty." This suggests a well-laid-out and expansive campground design. Furthermore, the campground fosters a vibrant and friendly community spirit. The presence of "seasonal campers" who "were wonderful and kept their places looking very sharp" speaks to a welcoming atmosphere where long-term residents contribute positively to the overall environment. Meeting "some of the friendliest people" during a stay is a testament to the community-oriented nature of Hidden Springs Campground. This aspect is particularly appealing for those seeking a sense of belonging and connection during their camping trips, especially if they are staying for extended periods.
When considering Hidden Springs Campground for your next "Camping Near Me" adventure, it's important to be aware of the booking process and availability. As of a recent search for a campsite on February 24, 2025, the starting rate for Hidden Springs Camp (sites 1-38, 51-78) was $35.00. However, it's crucial to note that availability can be highly competitive, with the next available date showing as May 22, 2025. This indicates a high demand for this popular campground, and prospective visitors should plan their trips well in advance. The booking system provides a "Notify Me!" option, which is a useful feature for those who wish to be alerted when desired dates become available. While there has been some feedback regarding the booking process and a preference for "first come, 1st serve" instead of catering to advanced bookings, it's clear that the current system is geared towards pre-booked reservations. Therefore, to secure a spot at this highly sought-after location, early planning and utilizing the online booking system are highly recommended. Despite the challenges some may face with advanced booking, the overwhelming positive sentiment from past visitors, such as the "10/10" recommendation and heartfelt thanks to "Mark and family for keeping this gem so beautiful and welcoming," strongly suggest that the effort is well worth it for the exceptional experience offered at Hidden Springs Campground.

Oct 19, 2024 · Debra ButnerThis is what I got with a basic search for a campsite at this campground looking for 2/24/25!Hidden Springs Camp (sites 1-38, 51-78)Starting at $35.00iconNext available dateNotify Me!5/22/2025Do you think people have all this time to research your sites while traveling? If we can't make these campgrounds available for the folks driving highway 1 you need to shut them down, come up with a better plan and please stop ruining our park experience by Rec/gov. I would fire everyone of you for involved for doing this to our campgrounds. Go back to first come, 1st serve instead of catering to the same people who book these sites in advanced. Absolutely not acceptable.
Feb 24, 2025 · Craig HallThe park staff and rangers were friendly and helpful. Appreciated that we saw the Rangers regularly patrolling the campsites, especially since the campground was full all weekend - the Rangers kept everything and everyone safe. Campsites and facilities are well maintained but watch the road in some places - the potholes and bumps are legendary. Very easy to get firewood from them also (though the general store in nearby Weott has better wood bundles).Bathrooms are kept clean and stocked. They have showers but we didn’t check them out on this trip as we had access to shower facilities elsewhere. Noise across the campground was minimal as all the trees and bushes between the sites helps dampen the noise of other campsites around you.Access to the Eel River is a bonus! Although you can walk to the river from Hidden Springs, we chose to drive to the Williams Day Use site and drive in to the shore access there. The river is pretty shallow, calm, and clear here with a lot of beach space for everyone. We had a great time floating in our tubes downriver a bit.Mosquitoes and BIG ticks were out in force this season though so make sure you have a LOT of strong bug repellent (campfire also helps keep them away as long as you chill by the fire).
Jun 27, 2024 · Laura StarkandWe loved our campsite. We stayed at site #092H. We loved this campground and will keep it in mind for future trips!Access: We drove a Honda Civic on this trip, and some of the roads in this campground have some intense road damage that caused us to scrape. To our site we were fine, but some of the surrounding loops had drops that most small cars wouldn't be able to make it down without bottoming out. Our site was easy to get to. There was a little (slightly steep) path from the car to the tent and picnic area, and then another similar path down from that to the fire ring and bear box. The steepness could cause accessiblity issues for some individuals. A lot of the upper campground is sloped and built on a hill, but the part closest to the entrance of the campground seemed pretty level.Site: Some of the sites felt a little close together, but ours felt like it had space and privacy. Our bear box was down a level from our tent, which felt nice because we're always paranoid about bears. We were super close to the bathrooms and water but not too close to the point where we felt like everyone was walking past us.Bathrooms: Pretty clean, but for some reason the door stays propped open so there were a ton of bugs and spiders. It was flushing toilets and running water sinks though, so that was nice. The stall walls were a little high with big gaps, so I felt like I didn't have total peace in the bathroom and like I was exposed to the world. Overall not too bad though.Showers: The showers ran with quarters. I think they were $0.25/minute, but we didn't use the showers at this campground.Firewood: $10/bundle, fires were allowed but always double-check restrictions because they can change fast, especially over the summer. We definitely are planning on staying here again. It was an awesome time!
Jul 17, 2024 · Amber FooteCame camping for my birthday weekend. The campsite is really nice and the bathrooms were nice and clean. Only bad thing I have to say is about those in the kiosk area, we were stuck with no car for two days waiting for a tow(the car was 10 miles from camp) and no way of charging our phones so I decided to ask the kiosk area if I could and apparently it’s a liability and they wouldn’t let me. So I had to walk all the way to the market just to ask the girl in the store if I could use a plug in and obviously she could see i was in distress and helped. So, if your stranded and could use a little help, those folks that work at the camp are no good.
