Delaware Water Gap / Pocono Mountain KOA Holiday Introduce
Looking for 'camping near me' in the beautiful Pocono Mountains or near the Delaware Water Gap? The Delaware Water Gap / Pocono Mountain KOA Holiday, located at 227 Hollow Rd, East Stroudsburg, PA, offers a range of camping options and amenities. You can reach them at (570) 223-8000 or +1 570-223-8000 to plan your stay. Based on recent customer feedback, this KOA presents a mixed experience, with some highlighting its kid-friendly features and well-maintained grounds, while others point out potential drawbacks such as the layout of facilities and certain policies.
Environment: Scenic Poconos Setting
Situated in the Pocono Mountains, this KOA likely benefits from the natural beauty of the region, characterized by rolling hills, forests, and the proximity to the Delaware Water Gap. One reviewer noted it as a "nice campground," suggesting an appealing outdoor setting. While one review mentioned that the campground felt "very small compared to others," the overall environment is expected to offer a typical Poconos experience with opportunities for enjoying nature. The mention of rustic cabins and RV sites indicates a variety of accommodation options within this natural landscape.
Services and Amenities: A Mix of Convenience and Considerations
The Delaware Water Gap / Pocono Mountain KOA Holiday offers a range of services and amenities, though their accessibility might vary depending on your campsite. A well-stocked store is available for necessities. For those not wanting to cook, there's the potential for on-site food, though one reviewer mentioned eating elsewhere but noted a supermarket is just 5 minutes away. The campground is also equipped with features for children, including "lots of things in a large area for kids to play." Specific amenities mentioned include a playground. Firewood is available for purchase and was noted for prompt delivery.
However, one reviewer highlighted a potential inconvenience for those staying in rustic cabins (which do not have bathrooms): the restrooms and showers are located at the front and back of the campground, with the cabins situated in the middle. This layout might require a significant walk for cabin occupants. The same reviewer also pointed out that RV sites are located near these bathroom facilities, which might seem less logical given that RVs often have their own bathrooms. On a positive note, another reviewer found every employee in the office to be "extremely nice, kind, and helpful," suggesting a generally positive interaction with the staff, with one exception noted during checkout.
- Rustic cabin rentals (no bathrooms inside).
- RV sites.
- A well-stocked store.
- Playground for kids.
- Firewood delivery.
- Friendly and helpful office staff (mostly).
Amenities mentioned by another reviewer from their experience at other KOAs but not specifically negated here might also be present, such as laundry facilities or recreational areas beyond the playground, but the provided reviews focus on the listed points.
Features: Focus on Family and Location
A key feature of this KOA seems to be its appeal to families, with the "lots of things...for kids to play" being a significant draw. The availability of both rustic cabins and RV sites caters to different camping preferences. Its location near the Delaware Water Gap and within the Pocono Mountains makes it a convenient base for exploring the natural attractions of the area. While not explicitly stated in these reviews, KOA campgrounds often offer planned activities, especially during peak season, though one reviewer who stayed in the off-season noted "not a whole lot to do," suggesting activities might be seasonal or limited during quieter times.
One unique (and for one reviewer, negative) feature was the policy of inspecting cabins before departure, which caused a delay. Additionally, the planting of small trees near the fire rings at the rustic cabins was noted as a potential safety concern regarding embers. Another feature mentioned was the proximity to a supermarket just 5 minutes away, adding convenience for campers needing groceries.
Promotional Information: Check for Seasonal Offers
The provided reviews do not contain specific promotional information. KOA campgrounds often have various promotions depending on the season, membership status (KOA Rewards), or special events. To find out about any current offers or discounts at the Delaware Water Gap / Pocono Mountain KOA Holiday, it is best to check their official KOA website or contact them directly at (570) 223-8000 or +1 570-223-8000. They can provide information on seasonal rates, any package deals, or the benefits of KOA Rewards membership, which often includes discounts on stays.
In Conclusion: A Family-Friendly Base in the Poconos
The Delaware Water Gap / Pocono Mountain KOA Holiday offers a camping experience in a scenic location with amenities catering to families, particularly those with children. While some aspects, such as the restroom layout for cabin renters and the checkout process, have been noted as potential drawbacks, the generally helpful staff and the availability of a store add convenience. If you are looking for 'camping near me' in the Poconos with options for both cabins and RVs, and value kid-friendly facilities, this KOA could be a suitable choice. However, if you are renting a rustic cabin, be aware of the potential distance to the restrooms. For the most up-to-date information on amenities, activities, and any ongoing promotions, please contact the campground directly. Consider this KOA for your next outdoor adventure in the Delaware Water Gap / Pocono Mountain region.

Delaware Water Gap / Pocono Mountain KOA Holiday Reviews
I'm giving this place 3 stars based on the fact that we stayed on the off season so way less busy than probably normal. I've stayed at a handful of different KOA's and I will say that its very small compared to others. Not a whole lot to do. its basically a place to lay your head. We stayed in a rustic cabin which was clean. The employees were very nice for the most part except for the last day but I will get into that soon. We ordered firewood a couple times and it came quick. The store was well stocked with everything you could possibly need aside from food which was fine for us because we planned to eat else where anyway. But if youre in a pinch there is a supermarket 5 mins away. Here is where I am having issues. If youre staying in a rustic cabin there is no bathroom. Thats fine. we have stayed in KOA's before and typically they strategically place the bathrooms/showers close by. Not this place. The bathrooms are at the front of the campground or back of the campgrounds. The cabins are in the middle. There are no sites aside from RV'S at the front bathroom as well as the back bathroom. Most RV'S have their own bathrooms so why you'd not place the bathrooms in the middle of the rustic cabins or tent camping people is beyond me. My son and I peed in cups and through it off to the side of our cabin. Yes everyone, RV'S and cabins, are on top of themselves. They planted little trees in front of the fire ring at each of the rustic cabins so we had to be super careful with out fire with embers etc. Why would they do that either is beyond me. We went to check out. I timed this methodically because we had an appointment for passports in the city. Apparently they make you wait for them to check your cabin before you're able to leave. This tacked on 15 minutes because whoever in the golfcart had to come get the key` from the office(the directions say to lock it before you leave) then drive back down to inspect it. So all in all we missed our appointment because of this. lol really? Its a little wooden cabin with wooden beds. aside from it burning down what would there be a need to inspect it? I have never seen this at a KOA before. When I explained this to the older woman at the desk about the appointment I had and said literally nothing. No I am sorry for the inconvenience, or it shouldn't take too long. Nothing. By the look on her face I thought for a brief second she was having a medical episode. The only reason why I did wait was to make sure she was ok. She was the only one in the office. Bizzare. aside from that they were moving RV's past our cabin well after 10 pm. they have a strict policy that quiet time is 10pm but gotta get that money!
Apr 28, 2025 · Jess DeGreciooI'm not sure why Google thinks it's a hotel as it's a campground, though they do rent a lot of cabins, probably more than we have seen in any other campground. It's a very nice campground, well maintained, large sites, lots of things in a large area for kids to play, and every employee I met in the office was extremely nice, kind, and helpful. Out of about 10 campgrounds we go to in the North East, this is our favorite hideaway.
Feb 04, 2025 · Commander-RRWe chose this location because we got stuck in a snowstorm heading home from a funeral. We tried to get off the road and be some place safe while we rode out the storm. At 1:00 a.m. our campers electrical system got fried. We woke up to freezing cold, and nobody was in the office the next day, all day to help us. I guess the front office attendant called in sick. So the handyman, who was super nice, offered to help us. The handyman offered us a cabin to stay in until we got the camper figured out. So we called the main KOA # to reserve it. They had a to "buy two nights, get the third night free" deal that we purchased because we weren't sure when we were going to be getting the camper fixed or if we would be able to afford too. The cabin was winterized so we couldn't use the bathroom and there was no running water to the cabin. It basically was used just to sleep in and to stay warm in the freezing conditions. The next day we found somebody to come out the following day to fix the camper. We moved the camper up next door to the cabin and there was only one night where we crossed because we had that extra night free. They could have very well told us that they planned on charging us for both sites but they didn't. They told us they would help us out. But they didnt. We got stuck paying for two sites!! The cabin and the camper site both, full rate, not even winter rate. And because they double booked us and tried to charge us extra fees, we couldn't use our KOA rewards either. Talk about greedy greedy greedy owners!!! Owners like this ruin the KOA good name. Not to mention the whole campground was completely empty but anything my child did outside, like playing with the ice or playing in the snow, the campground attendant would yell at him about it. Talk about a horrible experience. We even went to corporate and all they did was pass it right back down.. We will not be back. 👎
Feb 04, 2025 · Stephanie IrvinThis campground won best guest services in 2024 and it looks like they're going for 2025. Super helpful. Service with a smile. Knowledgeable. The park has nice amenities and is clean and well maintained.
Mar 16, 2025 · Phil OThe campground was decorated for Halloween and had lots of things for kids. Guinea fowl were walking around and were cute as can be. We changed sites trying to get satellite reception but it was spotty, they have no cable or over the air stations (that we could get). If you want quiet, get a wooded site in the back. There are no trains or road noise, just the obnoxious drunk adults behind us. Children were supervised and well behaved. There is no easy way to get to the campground but some stores are a few minutes away. There are many cabins to rent.
