Thousand Trails Timothy Lake North Introduce
Looking for 'camping near me' in the Pocono Mountains? Thousand Trails Timothy Lake North, located at 6837 Timothy Lake Rd, East Stroudsburg, PA, can be reached at (570) 588-6631 or +1 570-588-6631. Recent reviews present a starkly contrasting view of this campground, which should be considered when planning your visit.
Environment: Conflicting Perceptions
One set of reviews paints a negative picture of the environment, describing "trash all over grounds" and "spider web and dirt everywhere." There are also mentions of "loud music all over during wknds" and observations of side-by-sides and four-wheelers at sites, as well as someone riding a dirt bike through the campground. These descriptions suggest a potentially disruptive and unkempt environment for some visitors. One review even uses the term "ghetto ghetto ghetto" to describe the overall atmosphere.
Conversely, a more recent review offers a different perspective, stating, "Grounds are maintained" and describing the campground as "Quiet and peaceful." This suggests that conditions might vary or that improvements have been made. The presence of a gate, mentioned in the positive review ("Gated campground"), could contribute to a sense of security and perhaps a more controlled environment.
Given these conflicting reports, potential campers should be aware that the environmental experience at Thousand Trails Timothy Lake North might be inconsistent.
Services and Amenities: Mixed Feedback
Feedback on the services and amenities is also mixed. One negative review mentions that the "Bathrooms had green mold on mats curtains (not doors for showers) were ripped." This indicates potential issues with the cleanliness and maintenance of the bathhouse facilities. The same review also states that the "Hall smells like mold," suggesting broader issues with the upkeep of common areas.
On the other hand, the positive review notes that "amenities are well taken care of" but that the reviewer "did not utilize the bathhouse," so their condition remains uncertain based on this feedback. This reviewer also found the laundry "extremely difficult to figure out" and noted that the "office staff had no clue" how to assist, which points to a potential issue with staff knowledge regarding certain amenities.
The negative reviews also claim that the "Ranger never to found when you Need them" and that "Complaints fall on death ears," suggesting potential issues with campground management responsiveness. The mention of one site with a "barking yorkie with ten sheds pop up three grills as the site next to it taken so no one camps there" hints at a lack of enforcement of rules regarding site usage and noise.
- Bathrooms (reports of mold and disrepair in one review, condition unmentioned in another).
- Laundry facilities (reported as difficult to use with unhelpful staff).
- Gated entrance (mentioned in a positive review).
The stark contrast in these reviews makes it difficult to provide a definitive overview of the services and amenities. Potential campers should weigh these differing experiences.
Features: Choose Your Own Site and Potential for Issues
One notable feature mentioned in the positive review is "Choose your own campsite," which can be both a pro and a con. It allows for greater flexibility in selecting a location but can be "Difficult to look for one towing a big rig."
The negative reviews highlight several concerning features, including reported instances of loud noise, off-road vehicle use within the campground, and a perceived lack of rule enforcement. The mention of "4 People had gun signs in window ('f around and find out')" raises potential safety concerns, although this is an isolated observation from one reviewer. The situation with the barking dog and excessive structures on one site also points to a lack of oversight.
The positive review notes that they "Rarely saw any staff," which could contribute to both a sense of privacy and potentially a lack of readily available assistance or rule enforcement, depending on one's perspective.

Apr 21, 2025 · Melissa MeachamAfter seeing prior reviews we almost didn’t go. Glad we did. Gated campground. Quiet and peaceful. Grounds are maintained, amenities are well taken care of. Did not utilize the bathhouse. Choose your own campsite. Pros and cons to that. Difficult to look for one towing a big rig. Rarely saw any staff. Laundry was extremely difficult to figure out and office staff had no clue.
Sep 08, 2024 · Lucy & Ed VinckEnjoyed our stay here for the most part. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the store is really quaint and cute. Bathrooms were clean, lake had some good fishing.Other than that, we just wish a little more care was put into some of the common areas like the golf course and pool. Golf course is really dilapidated and you can tell hasn’t been maintained in quite some time. Piles of rocks, leaves, gravel and debris everywhere making it impossible to play. I can’t imagine it’d be a major task to get out there with a leaf blower from time to time.Pool is really cute, but again, falling apart. Bottom is peeling and rough. Bricks around the pool are broken. We found a decent site for our RV, but the campground is mostly seasonals and the majority of the transient spots are tiny or have the electric and sewer on the wrong side. Took us a bit to find one to fit us adequately.
Aug 27, 2024 · Sara O18 years ago this was an amazing campground. Sadly as with a lot of 1000 trails it has seen better days. The putt putt course is one of the best(lots of complicated holes) but is covered in debris. Trash EVERYWHERE! The gate does not work very well. Not many bathrooms and they are in bad condition. This campground needs some serious TLC. The one employee we saw was very nice but closed the store and other buildings at 430. Picture with the railing is where the indoor water used to be :(.
Jun 19, 2023 · erin habichtAs members of Thousand trails, I expected more from this campground. The brown grass couldn't be helped do to lack of rain, but it still could've been cut. The handicapped sites were no better or different than standard sites.. If not worse. The miniature golf course was busted up and could've been a very bad tripping hazard. A camper came in and got the site next to us and played their music loud right up until curfew except for one night, they had friends over with a disco ball, a karaoke machine and started drinking about 11:30 that morning. Called the ranger 5 times that night, lady one being 10 minutes after curfew and not one answer not did anyone show up. Staff was scarcely seen. Would not recommend.
