The environment at Otter Lake Camp-Resort is a significant draw for many visitors. Situated in the beautiful region of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, the resort boasts a picturesque lakefront setting. One reviewer specifically recommends staying lakefront if possible, highlighting the beauty of the location. This suggests that the presence of Otter Lake provides opportunities for water-based activities such as fishing, as mentioned by a satisfied guest whose children enjoyed fishing on the docks. While the reviews don't explicitly detail hiking trails or other natural features within the immediate campground, the surrounding area of the Poconos is known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities, which may be accessible from the resort.
In terms of services and features, Otter Lake Camp-Resort appears to be well-equipped for families and offers a variety of amenities to enhance the camping experience. One reviewer highlighted the clean and well-kept playgrounds, fields, and courts, indicating that there are ample spaces for children and adults to engage in outdoor activities. The presence of an indoor pool is another significant feature, providing a recreational option regardless of the weather. The resort also seems to organize social events, as evidenced by the mention of a DJ party that the kids enjoyed. While one review noted that the bathrooms are dated, they were also described as clean and well-maintained, suggesting that the resort prioritizes hygiene despite the age of the facilities. The fact that staff are frequently seen driving around the resort is also a positive aspect, potentially indicating good security and staff availability for assistance.
The welcoming and friendly atmosphere among both the staff and other campers is another frequently mentioned positive aspect of Otter Lake Camp-Resort. One first-time visitor specifically noted how welcoming everyone was, including the many seasonal campers. This suggests a strong sense of community within the resort, which can contribute significantly to a positive camping experience. However, another reviewer pointed out that some long-term or seasonal sites had older RVs with added porches and personal items, which they found to be an eyesore, especially considering the price of staying at the resort. This is a point to consider, particularly if aesthetics are a high priority for your camping experience.
Regarding pricing, one reviewer mentioned that the cost is "a bit steep" but understandable given the amenities and demand for sites. This suggests that Otter Lake Camp-Resort might be positioned as a premium camping destination within the "camping near me" category, offering a wider range of facilities and activities compared to more basic campgrounds. It's advisable to inquire about the specific pricing for different types of sites and rentals when booking, as costs can vary based on location (e.g., lakefront), season, and the type of accommodation.
One aspect that potential visitors should be aware of is the proximity of campsites in some areas of the resort. One reviewer noted that while some loops offer spacious and secluded sites, most are tight, with campers located quite close to their neighbors. If you prioritize privacy and space, it might be beneficial to inquire about site layouts when making your reservation and request a more secluded location if available. Additionally, one reviewer mentioned noise issues due to children screaming late at night, as quiet time wasn't until 11 p.m. If a peaceful and quiet nighttime environment is crucial for you, this is something to consider and potentially discuss with the resort management or other campers.
While the provided information doesn't include specific promotional details for Otter Lake Camp-Resort, the fact that a first-time visitor immediately booked a return visit for the following year's Columbus Day weekend speaks volumes about their positive experience. This strong indication of customer satisfaction suggests that many local users find the amenities and overall experience at Otter Lake to be worth the cost. To learn about any seasonal discounts, special packages, or loyalty programs that might be available for local residents, it is recommended to contact the resort directly via phone or explore their website (if available through an online search). Local camping guides and tourism websites might also feature any ongoing promotions.
In conclusion, Otter Lake Camp-Resort in East Stroudsburg, PA, presents itself as a family-friendly and amenity-rich option for those searching for "camping near me." With its lakefront location, indoor pool, playgrounds, and organized activities, it caters to families looking for a fun and engaging local getaway. Otter Lake Camp-Resort Reviews
We visited Otter Lake for the first time over the past Columbus Day weekend; we lucked out grabbing 2 sites (separate but close) in August. We traveled with 4 adults and 3 kids between the 2 sites. The resort is very family friendly with a clean and well kept playgrounds, fields and courts. Bathrooms are dated, but clean and well maintained. Some loops have spacious sites with more seclusion, most are tight and you're pretty close to your neighbors. Our kids loved swimming at the indoor pool, dancing at the DJ party and fishing on the docks. The staff and other campers were very welcoming and friendly; definitely a lot of seasonal sites, but most were well kept. The pricing is a bit steep, but with all the amenities and demand for sites, it's understandable. We already booked again for Columbus Day Weekend 2025 and we look forward to another great visit!
Feb 25, 2025 · Danielle KidneyThe location is beautiful. A couple of spots had long-term or seasonal campers (not sure which) and had some old rv's with added porches and personal junk all over the site. It's just a total eye sore. It's very unfortunate considering the price you pay here. Even still, I suggest staying lakefront if you can. Quiet time wasn't until 11 p.m., so I had to listen to obnoxious and totally unnecessary screaming most of the night from kids. Bathrooms were clean, and there was always staff driving around, which was good.
Apr 17, 2025 · Josh MooreThis is without a doubt the number 1 campground in the Poconos. We've been to a ton of campgrounds renting campers over the years, Otter Lake is by far the best.Remember the days of riding your bike all day and being back when the street lights came on? This is still that place.
Mar 21, 2025 · Glampers RV RentalsFirst time at this campground. All workers are nice and helpful. Campground has a nice amount of sites and they do not feel too close. Nice mix of seasonal and non-seasonal campers. There are peacocks onsite and you can fish in lake without a license as it is catch and release.
Nov 02, 2024 · Cecelia HWe visited friends who were tent camping at Otter lake twice. All the staff was very kind and helpful, and many even seemed upbeat which was wonderful. The pools and play equipment were well maintained and the bathrooms were clean and even smelled fresh. The lake is nice and we got to see an eagle swoop down and get a fish! People drive slowly and kids are seen biking all over. The area allotted to each campsite seems larger than some other campgrounds and well shaded.
