Based on user reviews, this site appears particularly well-suited for church camps, organizational retreats, and youth group activities, providing a structured and amenity-rich environment for larger gatherings.
The environment surrounding Camp Koholowo is described as beautiful, situated high up in the mountains within Santaquin Canyon. This location offers picturesque scenery and a sense of being immersed in nature. The mountainous setting likely provides opportunities for exploration and enjoying the outdoors. One reviewer specifically mentions the encouragement to explore the area through hikes, suggesting the presence of accessible trails and natural attractions in the vicinity. The elevation and canyon environment contribute to a distinct mountain atmosphere.
Camp Koholowo distinguishes itself through its facilities and services tailored for group stays. According to reviews, the camp features bathrooms and showers, providing a level of comfort and convenience often appreciated by larger groups. A notable amenity is a nice lodge equipped with a mess hall and a kitchen, indicating the capacity to cater to group meals and gatherings indoors. Accommodation is primarily in the form of cabins, described as large rooms containing multiple bunk beds. Users recommend bringing a soft bed roll or mat for added comfort on the bunks. These facilities suggest a focus on accommodating larger numbers of people in a communal setting.
A significant feature highlighted in the reviews is the presence of a ropes course, which was noted as being easy enough for young children. This suggests that Camp Koholowo offers structured activities aimed at team building and youth engagement. However, one review mentioned that the ropes course currently has limited functionality, with only two features reportedly working. It would be advisable for potential users to inquire about the current status and availability of the ropes course and other activity facilities when considering a booking.
Based on user experiences, Camp Koholowo fosters an environment conducive to positive group experiences, including "growing experiences and faith building exercises." This suggests that the camp is often utilized by religious and youth organizations for retreats focused on personal development and group cohesion. The reviews also emphasize the creation of lasting memories for attendees, particularly young men and young women, highlighting the camp's role as a setting for impactful experiences. Furthermore, the camp is described as a safe and secure place, which is an important consideration for organizations hosting youth or large groups.
While specific promotional information or pricing details are not provided in the reviews, the nature of Camp Koholowo as a group-oriented facility suggests that bookings are likely managed through a reservation system, as indicated by the comment about their schedule being "managed quite a bit." Availability might therefore depend on the camp's booking calendar and the size and needs of the requesting group. Interested parties would likely need to contact the camp directly to inquire about availability, pricing structures for group rentals, and specific services offered.
One user review mentioned a significant drawback: the presence of a large number of wasps. This is an environmental factor that potential users, particularly those with allergies or sensitivities to insect stings, should be aware of. Another personal experience shared was related to allergies, with one individual unable to stay at the camp for longer than a day due to allergic reactions. This highlights the importance for individuals with allergies to consider the environment and potentially take necessary precautions.

Its location in the beautiful Santaquin Canyon provides a scenic backdrop for group events. The camp features practical facilities such as bathrooms, showers, a lodge with a mess hall and kitchen, and cabin-style accommodation with bunk beds. While the ropes course is mentioned as a feature, its current operational status should be verified. The camp appears to foster positive group experiences in a safe and secure environment. However, potential users should be aware of the reported issue with wasps and consider any personal allergies related to the environment. For local organizations, Camp Koholowo presents a facility designed to accommodate larger groups for retreats and camping in a mountain setting.

Camp Koholowo Reviews
Great camping site for church or other organization camps. Their schedule is managed quite a bit so I don't know about availability. It has bathrooms and showers. It has a nice lodge with a mess hall and kitchen. The cabins are one big room with a lot of bunk beds. Bring a soft bed roll or mat. It has beautiful scenery high up in the mountains in Santaquin canyon. Be sure to explore with some hikes. It has a ropes course easy enough for young children too.
Dec 07, 2018 · Craig ButlerIt's a really nice camp with fantastic facilities. Many people come here and have many growing experiences and faith building exercises. Many memories are made here for all kinds of young men and young women. It's also a very safe and secure place. The only thing holding this place back is they need to get their ropes course working again because it really only has two features, there are tons of wasps, and for me personally my allergies could not handle being there longer than a day.
Aug 15, 2022 · Ryan JohnsonThis is a privately owned camp.Beautiful location. Great accommodations.
Sep 18, 2018 · Bret BillsLoved this girls camp! Great facilities, amazing spirit. Beautiful all around! I loved that the wildfire from a few years back burned up to the fence line but Koholowo was safe. Makes me feel God’s love for His young women. The women’s restroom isn’t accessible even though they had a handicap sign posted on it. I’m wondering if my special needs daughter should have been using the single men’s restroom on the other side that had the disability sign on it. I’ll have to contact the camp to see if they can make the women’s restroom accessible.
Jul 07, 2021 · Leslie TooneThis camp is really fun. A large lodge and cabins with electricity and bunk frames made this an ideal spot for a family reunion. Additionally Payson Lake is a fun place for swimming and light fishing it's only 10 minutes down the road.
