Spanish Oaks Campground Introduce
For local adventurers in search of convenient "camping near me" options, Spanish Oaks Campground in Spanish Fork, Utah, presents a mixed bag of natural beauty and potential drawbacks. Situated at 2939 S Spanish Oaks Dr, this campground offers appealing features such as scenic valley views and immediate access to hiking trails, making it a potentially attractive destination for those seeking outdoor recreation. However, it's essential to consider all aspects, including feedback from fellow campers, to make an informed decision about your visit.
One of the standout features of Spanish Oaks Campground, frequently mentioned by visitors, is the "beautiful views of the valley." Imagine waking up to a stunning panorama right from your campsite. This picturesque setting provides a serene backdrop for your camping experience and offers excellent opportunities for photography and simply soaking in the natural beauty of the Utah landscape. Campers have also noted that there is "enough space" to accommodate larger tents, such as a Kodiak canvas tent, suggesting that the campsites can be relatively spacious.
In terms of amenities, Spanish Oaks Campground is equipped with picnic tables at each site, providing a convenient space for outdoor dining and gathering. The campground also offers essential facilities such as garbage cans, helping to maintain cleanliness. For those who enjoy cooking over an open flame, each campsite includes a firepit and a charcoal stove. However, it's crucial to be aware that the use of firepits and charcoal stoves may be subject to fire restrictions, as one reviewer noted they were unable to use these amenities due to such restrictions being in place at the time of their visit. It's always advisable to check current fire conditions and regulations before your trip.
A significant advantage highlighted by a camper is the campground's location as a "gateway to a lot of hikes." The convenience of being able to "just walk out of your tent and hop on the trail" is a major draw for hiking enthusiasts. This direct access to trails allows for spontaneous exploration of the surrounding natural environment without the need for additional travel. Furthermore, the campground is described as generally "clean," which contributes to a more pleasant camping experience.
Adding to the appeal is the presence of a "funny little reservoir" nearby, where visitors have been seen paddleboarding. This offers an additional recreational activity for those looking to enjoy some time on the water. The overall atmosphere is described as "quite except for the sounds of nature," suggesting that under normal circumstances, campers can expect a peaceful and relaxing environment, allowing for a true escape from the noise of everyday life.
However, it's important to address some significant concerns raised by other campers. One reviewer stated that "the campaign spots are small," which contradicts the earlier comment about having enough space for a large tent. This discrepancy suggests that campsite sizes may vary, and it might be beneficial to inquire about specific site dimensions when making a reservation, if possible. This would help ensure that your chosen site can comfortably accommodate your equipment.
A more serious concern raised by a disgruntled camper is the alleged lack of enforcement of quiet hours. The campground rules reportedly post quiet hours from 10 PM to 7 AM, but this reviewer experienced "very loud partying well past midnight." Such noise disturbances can significantly detract from the camping experience, especially for those seeking a peaceful night's sleep. If quiet enjoyment is a priority for you, this is a crucial factor to consider.
Another major drawback mentioned in the reviews is the campground's proximity to a gun range. The reviewer reported "listening to guns going off all day," stating, "I like guns just don’t want to listen to gunfire all day. I will never camp here again." This constant noise could be highly disruptive and may not be suitable for those seeking a tranquil natural retreat. Individuals sensitive to noise should be particularly aware of this potential issue.
The payment system at Spanish Oaks Campground is described as "self pay," indicating that there might not be on-site staff to handle payments directly. Campers should be prepared to pay via a designated self-service method, which typically involves filling out an envelope with the appropriate fee and depositing it in a secure box. It's advisable to have the correct amount of cash or a check ready, depending on the campground's specific instructions.
Considering the "camping near me" platform category, Spanish Oaks Campground offers a location that is likely convenient for local residents of Spanish Fork and the surrounding areas. The beautiful valley views and direct access to hiking trails are strong selling points for those looking to immerse themselves in nature without traveling too far. However, the reported issues with noise from partying and the nearby gun range are significant drawbacks that potential visitors should carefully weigh.

In conclusion, Spanish Oaks Campground offers appealing aspects such as beautiful valley views and immediate access to hiking trails, making it a potentially attractive option for those searching for "camping near me" in the Spanish Fork area. The presence of picnic tables, firepits, and charcoal stoves adds to the basic camping amenities. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported issues concerning small campsite sizes, lack of enforcement of quiet hours leading to loud partying, and the noise from a nearby gun range. By contacting the campground directly for the latest information and considering the experiences shared by previous visitors, local users can make a well-informed decision about whether Spanish Oaks Campground is the right choice for their next outdoor adventure.

Spanish Oaks Campground Reviews
Beautiful views of the valley! Picnic tables, enough space for our large kodiak canvas tent. Self pay. Gateway to a lot of hikes, you can just walk out of your tent and hop on the trail. Clean, garbage cans, firepit, charcoal stove. (We didn't get to use the firepit or stove due to the fire restrictions in place). Quite except for the sounds of nature. There is a funny little reservoir, people were paddle boarding.
Aug 09, 2024 · Kiera SchvaneveldtThe campaign spots are small, they don’t enforce the quiet hours as posted in the rules 10PM-7AM. There was very loud partying well past midnight. It’s also next to a gun range so all day you are listening to guns going off. I like guns just don’t want to listen to gunfire all day. I will never camp here again.
Jul 20, 2024 · Paul ManukyanGreat little hike from the reservoir parking lot. Tim about an hour of casual hiking to get to the cross and back. Nice trail with some ups and downs, quite windy on top. (Didn't camp but noticed the camp sites are small, no campers or RVs, only tents allowed.)
Apr 14, 2024 · Keri SkousenAmazing place to camp. They take reservations 7 days in advance, otherwise, it’s first come first serve after it opens at 2:00m. Overlooks the reservoir. There are fire pits and grills and picnic tables (maybe not on every site). There is a pavilion and a playground.
May 19, 2024 · Joseph HansenTraveling through, this camp ground is absolutely beautiful. The camp host were genuinely kind & very helpful . The swimming is nice, the playground has a lovely background & everything is well kept. Highly recommend this place. We had our four dogs, our toddler & 1 other friend with us. We will visit again. Thank you.
