Spinreel Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking a "camping near me" experience with unparalleled access to the Oregon Dunes Recreational Area, Spinreel Campground near North Bend presents a unique, albeit potentially noisy, option. Located at Spinreel Rd, North Bend, OR 97459, USA, this campground can be contacted at (541) 271-6000 or +1 541-271-6000 for inquiries. Based on customer reviews, Spinreel Campground is particularly suited for outdoor enthusiasts who are passionate about off-road vehicles and exploring the dunes.
Environment and Setting:
Spinreel Campground is strategically located with direct access to the renowned Oregon Dunes Recreational Area. This proximity is a major draw for those looking to easily transition from their campsite to the sandy expanse of the dunes. The environment is characterized by its openness, with one reviewer noting that their site was "completely exposed to the whole campground," resulting in zero privacy. While the beauty of the surrounding area is acknowledged, the primary focus of the campground appears to be facilitating access to the dunes rather than providing a secluded natural retreat. The presence of a boat launch suggests that the campground is also near a body of water suitable for small boats, adding another dimension to the recreational opportunities available.
Services and Amenities:
The reviews indicate that Spinreel Campground offers basic amenities to accommodate campers, particularly those with RVs and off-road vehicles. Most of the camping spots are reported to have enough room for an RV or camper and two vehicles, highlighting its suitability for those traveling with both accommodation and recreational vehicles. The presence of a boat launch is a significant amenity for those interested in boating activities in the area. While specific details about other amenities like bathrooms, showers, or hookups are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, the focus on accommodating RVs and providing dune access suggests that essential facilities are likely available. However, prospective campers should inquire about these specifics when contacting the campground.
Features and Activities:
The standout feature of Spinreel Campground is its direct drive-off access from the blacktop into the Oregon Dunes Recreational Area. This makes it incredibly convenient for campers with UTV side-by-sides, ATVs, sand rails, and dune buggies to enjoy the thrill of off-road adventures. The campground essentially serves as a basecamp for dune exploration. Additionally, the inclusion of a boat launch for small boats expands the recreational possibilities to include water-based activities. For those specifically seeking immediate and unfettered access to the Oregon Dunes with their off-road vehicles, Spinreel Campground appears to be ideally situated.
Important Considerations:
While Spinreel Campground offers unique advantages for dune enthusiasts, potential visitors should be aware of some significant drawbacks highlighted in the reviews. The most prominent issue is the noise level. Multiple reviewers mention loud motors, music, and the constant revving of engines, primarily from ATVs and dune buggies. This makes the campground potentially unsuitable for those seeking a quiet and peaceful camping experience. One reviewer who had hoped for a dog-friendly sandy environment left after only one night due to the persistent noise and their dog's discomfort. Another reviewer echoed the sentiment that the campground is really only appropriate for "dune buggy fanatics." Additionally, the lack of privacy at the campsites is a concern, with sites being described as completely exposed to the rest of the campground. This lack of seclusion might detract from the overall camping experience for those who value privacy.

Spinreel Campground Reviews
It's a nice little campground. Especially for anybody that wants access to the Oregon dunes recreational area. Most of the camping spots have room for your RV/camper and two vehicles. A lot of the campers have UTV side by sides, ATVs, sand rails, and dune buggies. You can drive right off the blacktop into the dunes. There's also a boat launch for small boats.
Apr 30, 2023 · MackDo not come here unless you're a dune buggy fanatic. Seriously. I booked a week thinking the sand would be fun for my dog, but I am completely surrounded by loud motors, music, and constant revving of engines. The site would be fine if it wasn't completely exposed to the whole campground. Zero privacy, very loud, but also very beautiful.Update: left after 1 night. For some reason people like to turn on their massive ATVs and just sit in them... My dog wouldn't leave the truck so we left. Never coming back.
Aug 24, 2023 · Scott StearleyBeautiful environment. Unreal views. Underfunded park. Minimal amenities. Lots of litter.I'm spending a week here and it's a good park to camp in for staging to go on the dunes, but that is all. The current park host is going above and beyond to make the park look better but it's obviously an uphill battle.
May 01, 2024 · Jaydyn BurnsThe recreation area is a nice place for families to ride. The camp host however is terrible. Her name is Karen and she is not a Oregonian. She rude and not friendly. She walks around with ear muffs on because she can’t stand the sound of peoples toys. She ruined our overall experience. This campground has potential if it had a good host
Oct 11, 2021 · tttbelleisle tttWe had a great time the host is Awesome,Even being off duty she still helped..Love the fact that the sites are well maintained along with the restrooms !! Dog Friendly absolutely I seen dogs having just as much fun as the humans it was great ! -Easy access to spinreel store for that person who wants to rent a ORV it’s right across street from camp & has some camp essentials ( wood, ice, etc ) I just had to buy a sweatshirt 😊We had a great time on the dunes & in Day use area we checked out the little boat ramp area too.(Swimming hole some say lol.).There’s really not a lot of things to do for younger kids. The only access to beach is by riding. We had a great time and as you know this campground does get noisy at times as it is the dunes and we all have them toys that make the noise ❤️.
