Eel Creek Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking a tranquil and private "camping near me" experience near Lakeside, Oregon, Eel Creek Campground presents an appealing option. Located at HRR7+8C, Lakeside, OR 97449, USA, this campground can be contacted at (541) 271-6000 or +1 541-271-6000 for inquiries and bookings. Based on feedback from recent visitors, Eel Creek Campground is characterized by its quiet and relaxing atmosphere, spacious and private campsites, and convenient access to local attractions.
Environment and Setting:
Eel Creek Campground is consistently described as a very quiet and relaxing place, making it an ideal destination for local users looking to escape the noise and bustle of everyday life. The standout feature of the environment is the privacy afforded by each campsite, with reviewers noting that each site offers plenty of space and a sense of seclusion. This emphasis on privacy allows campers to truly unwind and enjoy the natural surroundings without feeling crowded. While the specific details of the landscape aren't heavily described, the proximity to dunes, as mentioned by one reviewer, suggests a unique coastal environment with opportunities for exploring sandy terrain. The campground's location near Lakeside, Oregon, implies access to the natural beauty of the Oregon coast.
Services and Amenities:
Eel Creek Campground provides essential amenities for a comfortable camping experience. Cleanliness is a notable aspect, with reviewers specifically mentioning that the bathrooms are "VERY clean" and that the hosts maintain an orderly environment. This attention to hygiene is a significant plus for campers. It is important to note that the campground operates without hookups at the individual sites, meaning there are no direct connections for water, electricity, or sewer. This is a crucial consideration for RV campers and those relying on such amenities. Despite the lack of hookups, the availability of bathrooms provides a necessary convenience. The price of $25 per night is considered reasonable, especially given the limited boondocking opportunities in the surrounding area, suggesting good value for the experience offered.
Features and Activities:
A key feature of Eel Creek Campground is its private access to the dunes, offering a unique recreational opportunity for local campers. This direct access allows for easy exploration of the dune landscape, which could include activities like hiking, sandboarding (if permitted), or simply enjoying the coastal scenery. The campground's location also provides a quick drive to most conveniences, suggesting that while the camping itself offers a sense of seclusion, essential services and supplies are readily accessible nearby in Lakeside. This balance between a private natural setting and convenient access to amenities enhances its appeal to local users. The spaciousness of the sites is also a significant feature, with one reviewer in a 30' Class A RV noting that their site was plenty big enough to accommodate their vehicle, although side clearance with slides out was close. This indicates that larger RVs can be accommodated, but careful maneuvering might be necessary.
Important Considerations:
While the overall experience at Eel Creek Campground is positive, one area for potential improvement mentioned by a reviewer is the condition of the road within the campground. There are reportedly "many sizeable dips" that can flood during wet conditions, leading to significant standing water (around 12" during one reviewer's stay). Local users planning a visit, especially during or after periods of rain, should be aware of this potential issue and consider the suitability of their vehicle. However, this seems to be the primary area of concern raised in the provided reviews, with the quiet atmosphere, private sites, and clean facilities being consistently praised.

Eel Creek Campground Reviews
Very quiet and relaxing. Each site is private with plenty of space. There are bathrooms. No hookups at the sites. $25 a night which is great when there is little to no boondocking in this area.
Mar 02, 2025 · Laura HWe stayed for a week in our 30' class A, and it was what we expected. It was never too busy, and the site was plenty big enough for our vehicles to fit (although the side clearance was close with slides out). We really liked that every site was mostly private but several of the sites you can get through the bushes to your neighbor. The bathrooms were VERY clean, and the hosts kept everything orderly. The only suggestion I have for improvement would be to improve the road itself. There are many sizeable dips that flooded during our stay and left about 12" of standing water. If you want your own private access to dunes and a quick drive to most conevniences, this is a great campground. Highly recommend
Apr 02, 2024 · M WillFirst time camping here. Very nice little campground. The sites are very nice. Many sites have secluded firepits and tent areas. If you plan to hike over the dunes to the beach, e ready for a long hike in the sand.
Jun 11, 2024 · Greg HjOne of the nicest campgrounds I know. Not only beautiful, but each site is a little bit secluded and private, making it very special. Huge surrounding territory to explore.
Oct 10, 2023 · Sandra RuffnerGreat little campground that never seems to have anyone there. The water and bathrooms are working again but as of this review only the upper half of the campground. But since there is never a problem with finding a spot the Forest Service is probably taking there time. Easy access to the John Dellenback Dunes. Road noise from US 101 is minor, the sound of the ocean is pretty noticeable. Some of the sites are on the small size but others are much bigger. Must reserve online!!
