Denny Creek Campground Introduce
For local users in the North Bend, Washington area and those traveling along I-90 seeking "camping near me" with convenient access to notable hiking trails, Denny Creek Campground, located directly off I-90 in North Bend, WA 98045, USA, presents a mixed offering. Reservations can be made by calling (877) 444-6777 or +1 877-444-6777. Based on recent customer reviews, the campground boasts large, well-maintained campsites and excellent access to several hiking trails, but it also suffers from significant noise due to its proximity to two freeways.
The environment of Denny Creek Campground is described as somewhat less scenic by one reviewer, noting that the ground is "pretty bare" with "many felled trees." This suggests that the campground might lack lush vegetation or particularly picturesque views within the camping area itself. The primary environmental draw appears to be its immediate access to the surrounding natural landscape and the trailheads for several popular hikes.
Despite the less scenic nature of the campground itself, the reviews overwhelmingly praise the "wonderful" hiking trails accessible from Denny Creek Campground. There are three main trails highlighted: the Wagon Wheel Trail, Franklin Falls Trail, and Denny's Creek Trail. The Wagon Wheel Trail is described as having "fewer people" and being "less maintained" while venturing "away from the river," suggesting a more rustic and potentially quieter experience for those seeking solitude. In contrast, the Franklin Falls Trail is noted as "very accessible," indicating an easier hike suitable for a wider range of abilities. The Denny's Creek Trail is mentioned as being "longer," appealing to those looking for a more extended trek.
The campground offers multiple water spigots for easy access to water throughout the camping area. However, there are signs indicating that washing dishes at these spigots is prohibited, likely due to concerns about clogging the drains. This is a practical consideration for campers regarding their dishwashing routines.
One of the main drawbacks of Denny Creek Campground, consistently mentioned in the reviews, is the significant "road noise" due to its location "between two freeways" and "right by i-90." Campers should be prepared for the sound of passing trucks, especially at night, which one reviewer noted was loud enough to warrant taking off a star from their rating. This noise factor is crucial for those sensitive to sound and seeking a peaceful natural setting for their camping experience.
In terms of services and features, Denny Creek Campground offers "large campsites" that are reported to be "well maintained." This suggests ample space for camping setups and a level of upkeep that ensures the sites are in good condition for visitors. The easy access to the creek and the aforementioned trails is a major feature, catering to outdoor enthusiasts eager to explore the natural beauty of the area.
Regarding pricing, the reviews indicate a tiered system based on the availability of electricity. Campsites with electricity are priced at $50 per night, while those without electricity cost $35 per night. Additionally, Denny Creek Campground offers a significant discount for seniors with a pass, providing a 50% reduction in the nightly rate. This promotional pricing for seniors could be a key feature for eligible local users.
The fact that the campground is located directly off I-90 provides both a benefit and a drawback. The easy access from a major highway is convenient for travelers and local users seeking a quick camping getaway. However, this proximity is also the primary source of the persistent road noise.
For local users searching for "camping near me" primarily for its access to excellent hiking trails in the North Bend area, Denny Creek Campground offers a compelling location. The variety of trails, catering to different preferences and fitness levels, is a significant advantage. The large, well-maintained campsites and the availability of water spigots also contribute to a comfortable camping experience. However, potential campers must be prepared for the considerable noise from the nearby freeways, which could detract from the overall tranquility of the stay. The senior discount offers a notable price advantage for eligible individuals.
In conclusion, Denny Creek Campground serves as a functional basecamp for exploring the wonderful hiking trails in the North Bend area, including Wagon Wheel, Franklin Falls, and Denny's Creek trails. The large, well-maintained campsites and water access are positives. However, the significant road noise from its location between two freeways and the less scenic nature of the campground itself are important considerations. The pricing structure, with options for electric and non-electric sites, and the 50% senior discount provide further details for local users evaluating this "camping near me" option. If hiking is your priority and you are less sensitive to highway noise, Denny Creek Campground could be a suitable choice.

Denny Creek Campground Reviews
The campground is between two freeways, so there is a lot of road noise. The ground is pretty bare and there are many felled trees. It's not one of the most scenic places. However, the hiking trails are wonderful!! There are three: Wagon Wheel (fewer people, less maintained, away from the river), Franklin Falls (very accessible), and Denny's Creek (longer). It's $50 per night for sites with electricity and $35 for sites without. 50% discount for seniors with a pass.
Sep 18, 2024 · Nancy WarringtonLarge campsites that were well maintained. Multiple water spigots for easy access to water, though signs says not to wash dishes with them amongst other things that easily clog up drain. Easy access to creek and trails, the only complaint is that it's right by i-90 and at night trucks that pass by gets pretty loud which is why I took off a star.
Jul 30, 2024 · Mike SuBeautiful surroundings and plenty of nearby hikes. Fun restaurants at the summit. Bathrooms have not been cleaned in the three days we have been here. Washroom on upper loop is a mess. Men's toilet is plugged; hand drier does not work; ventilation is horrible with swamp gas smell constantly. Women's sink has no water. Lower washroom men's urinal not working. No sign of campground host. Ranger said he did not know about the problems with the bathroom. Campground was closed last year for repairs. We observed the same problems with washrooms two years ago. What did they fix?
Aug 26, 2024 · Doug HindmanThis is a lovely place to camp. It lies between the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-90. You can hear the traffic but it is not overwhelming. The campground host was nowhere to be found while I was there. It’s a short drive to Snoqualmie Pass where you can purchase supplies.
Aug 19, 2024 · Mathew MetcalfeIt was pretty. It was serene. Spots are right next to each other but set up to be as private as possible with all the trees. We wanted an rv spot to hook up sewer water. There are a few spots set up for power, &they were reserved. It was beautiful out there in the forest, as close to off grid as it gets without being off grid. We checked in at 10pm, had a little fire to cook our chicken, & checked out at 11am because all spots were reserved. There's an envelope & drop box similar to one's found registering @remote trailheads.
