Environment:
The environment surrounding Nugget Lake Campground is clearly a major attraction, centered around the picturesque Nugget Lake. Reviews highlight the "beautiful view" of the lake and the "water and the woods surrounding the area." The lake itself is noted as being great for kayaking and canoeing, with rentals available at the campground. While one reviewer mentions that the lake is "very weedy until you paddle out farther," this doesn't detract from the overall enjoyment of being on the water and taking in the scenery, especially the changing colors of the leaves during the fall. In addition to the lake, the area features the Plum River, which is described as "fun to walk around and in," suggesting opportunities for exploring its banks and perhaps wading. The presence of "plenty of trails to hike" indicates that the environment caters to those who enjoy exploring on foot as well. Furthermore, the area is rich in wildlife, offering chances to observe local fauna. The combination of a scenic lake, a flowing river, wooded surroundings, and hiking trails creates a diverse and appealing natural environment for a memorable "camping near me" experience.

A significant service is the availability of rentals for "boats/canoes/kayaks," making it easy for visitors to enjoy the lake even if they don't bring their own watercraft. The campground also caters to families, with "entertainment for the little guys," which includes showing a movie outside on weekends. Basic amenities such as the office, from which you can "barrow a pan" for gold mining, are also available. While not explicitly stated, it's reasonable to assume that a county park campground would also offer essential services like restrooms and potentially shower facilities, though this is not detailed in the reviews. The mention of a "wonderful facility available in a small community" implies that the campground is well-maintained and provides valued services to both locals and visitors. The opportunity to try "a little gold mining in the river" by borrowing a pan from the office is a unique and engaging service that adds an element of fun to a stay at Nugget Lake Campground.

Nugget lake campground Reviews
I remember when that dam was being built. And the town had great big, damn days celebration for a weekend. It was wonderful. But I don't think enough people in the community take advantage of everything that's out there. When I return there to visit, I stay with my girlfriend and a couple years ago I said let's go kayaking book and she really didn't want to, but we went and we had a blast. I mentioned to a few other people that they should go up there and check it out. It is such a beautiful view, even if you just go canoeing or take a kayak out the water and the woods surrounding the area are just beautiful. I bet right now the leaves look all colors but green. Nothing like viewing the leaves, changing colors sitting in a Kayak. And I have learned that a lot more people in the area have started using this wonderful facility available in a small community. Which I was very happy to hear.
Oct 20, 2024 · JillNugget lake is great. They have boats/canoes/kayaks to rent and if you want to fish, I'd recommend renting one or bring your own. The lake is very weedy until you paddle out farther. Plum river is fun to walk around and in. Plenty of trails to hike. Tons of wild life too see and entertainment for the little guys. They show a movie out side on weekends. It's a great spot for you and the family. Also, barrow a pan from the office and try a little gold mining in the river. Not going to get rich but it is satisfying to see a tiny spec of gold shimmering back at you.
Sep 19, 2024 · Joe keWe had 9 campers...6 kids and 3 moms. What a great place. The comfort station was not too far. Level spot to set up our tents. The bugs were not an issue, either. We're already planning a trip next summer!
Aug 16, 2024 · Lettie LooThis is an annual family destination in the summer. The campground is gorgeous, and the showers and restrooms are always stocked and clean. They even have some fun nature movies at their outdoor amphitheater! Staff is friendly and always available.
Sep 13, 2023 · Tasha SuhsenI've nearly grown up at this campground, and while the reservation process is a bit technically behind in this day and age, I think it's absolutely worth it. The campground is well cared for, and almost always quiet. If you're looking to get rowdy or make a bunch of noise with vehicles and such, a different campground would be better suited. This is a peace and relaxation campground, not bring your brats or bros and make a bunch of noise throughout the day campground. It has great tree cover throughout, and excellent privacy between campsites. Shady is the keyword here, not blistering under summer sun sort of sites. The bathrooms are always stocked with essentials, and are kept clean as can be. Smell is at a minimum.Another nice feature is the lake, near the bottom of the campground. It's a short walk, with several beautiful trails that weave in and out of the woods, over little water features and several creeks/rivers.Overall -- one of my favorite campgrounds I've stayed at to date.
