Don Huey Country Campground Introduce
For local residents and visitors to the Indiana, Pennsylvania area seeking "camping near me," Don Huey Country Campground, located at 23 Campbell Ln, Indiana, PA 15701, USA, offers a location with convenient access to both natural trails and the amenities of town. You can reach them at (814) 475-2464 or their mobile number +1 814-475-2464 for reservations and inquiries. Based on a mix of recent customer reviews, Don Huey Country Campground presents a varied experience, with high praise for its management and location, but also some concerns about the camping environment.
The environment of Don Huey Country Campground appears to offer a blend of rural tranquility and proximity to urban conveniences. One reviewer described it as a "hidden gem in rural Pennsylvania," highlighting a sense of peacefulness, particularly during the off-season when the campground was less crowded. This suggests that campers seeking a quiet retreat might find it appealing, especially outside of peak times. The presence of "long trails on the property" is a significant environmental feature, offering opportunities for walking and enjoying nature with pets. The availability of "free fire wood on site" further enhances the outdoor experience, allowing for campfires during appropriate weather conditions. However, another reviewer presented a less idyllic view, describing the camping area as a "barn yard/parking lot full of Contractor trucks." This contrasting feedback suggests that the environment might vary depending on the specific campsite location or the time of year, with the potential for some areas to be less scenic or more utilitarian than others. Local users should inquire about the specific type and location of campsites available to ensure it aligns with their environmental preferences.
The services at Don Huey Country Campground seem to cover essential needs for a comfortable stay. One reviewer appreciated the on-site facilities, including "Shower, houses and laundry," indicating the availability of clean restroom and shower facilities, as well as the convenience of laundry for longer stays. The positive mention of the property manager, John, who "met me at my site upon arrival to make sure I had all the information I needed and that I was all setup," highlights a commitment to good customer service and ensuring a smooth check-in process. The spaciousness and levelness of at least one campsite ("My site was very spacious, and level") are also noteworthy for RV and tent campers seeking comfortable setup. The proximity to town, being only 1.5 miles from Philadelphia St where restaurants, bars, and tourist attractions are located, is a significant service for those who appreciate easy access to urban amenities. The campground's closeness to IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania) also makes it a convenient option for visitors attending university events. However, the negative review did not comment on the availability or quality of services, focusing instead on the environment.
The features of Don Huey Country Campground are somewhat varied based on the contrasting reviews. A key feature is its strategic location, offering a rural feel with the convenience of being close to the town of Indiana, PA. This allows campers to enjoy the peace of a campground while still having easy access to dining, entertainment, and local attractions, including IUP and nearby breweries. The presence of walking trails on the property is another significant feature, catering to those who enjoy outdoor exercise and exploring with their pets. The provision of free firewood is a valuable amenity that enhances the camping experience. However, the potential for some areas to resemble a "barn yard/parking lot full of Contractor trucks" could be considered a negative feature for those seeking a more traditional natural camping environment. The availability of on-site showers, restrooms, and laundry adds to the convenience for longer stays or those who prefer these amenities. The spacious and level campsites, at least in some areas, are also a positive feature for ease of setup and comfort.
Promotional information for Don Huey Country Campground is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. To attract local users, the campground might consider highlighting its proximity to Indiana University of Pennsylvania and local attractions, especially during university events or tourist seasons. They could also promote the availability of trails on the property and the provision of free firewood. Given the positive feedback about the property manager, emphasizing their customer service could also be a promotional point. To discover any current special offers, discounts for local residents, or packages related to university events or local attractions, it is recommended to contact Don Huey Country Campground directly via phone or inquire if they have a website or social media presence where promotions might be advertised. Potential campers might also ask about the different types of campsites available and their specific locations within the property to avoid areas that might be less scenic.
In conclusion, Don Huey Country Campground in Indiana, PA, offers a convenient "camping near me" option with the benefit of being close to town and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, as well as featuring walking trails and free firewood. The positive feedback regarding the friendly and helpful property manager and the on-site amenities like showers, restrooms, and laundry suggests a commitment to guest comfort. However, potential local users should be aware of the contrasting review that described some areas as less traditionally scenic. It is advisable to contact Don Huey Country Campground directly to inquire about campsite options and locations to ensure the environment meets their expectations. For those who value proximity to town and appreciate good management and essential amenities, Don Huey Country Campground could be a suitable choice for their local camping needs.

Don Huey Country Campground Reviews
What a hidden gem in rural Pennsylvania! From the moment my reservation was made I had a great experience. The property manager John met me at my site upon arrival to make sure I had all the information I needed and that I was all setup for my stay, he’s a great guy! Staying in middle of November when camping season winding down I had the bulk of the campground to myself was relaxing and quiet. My dog and I enjoyed walking the long trails on the property. Weather wasn’t great but still found a small window my last night to enjoy the free fire wood on site. Campground is very clean, grounds well taken care of. Shower, houses and laundry on site is nice to have if needed. My site was very spacious, and level.Campground only 1.5 miles from Philadelphia St where all the restaurants, bars and tourist attractions are located. Close to IUP where the purpose of visit was to see football game. Two great breweries in town. Loved this campground highly recommend, will definitely stay again next time I’m in town.

Dec 18, 2024 · Todd AdkinsWe stayed here for a week. The whole place is clean. Bathrooms, showers, laundry, well maintained everything. John the manager could not have been more helpful. Lots of things to keep kids entertained. Very quiet even though it is near a construction company. Animals, and beautiful scenery. Lots of room between spots. Loved it and will definitely be back.
