Elk River Floats & Wayside Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Noel, Missouri area? Elk River Floats & Wayside Campground, located at 201 Minnow Springs Ave, Noel, MO 64854, USA, offers a combination of river floating experiences and various lodging options, including cabins and potentially campsites. You can contact them at (417) 475-3230 or +1 417-475-3230 to learn more. Based on recent customer reviews, the experiences seem to be quite varied, with positive feedback on the river float itself and the hosts, but significant concerns raised about at least one of the housing accommodations.
The environment of Elk River Floats & Wayside Campground is clearly centered around the Elk River, as indicated by its name and the positive reviews specifically mentioning the "great" float experience. The prompt and organized nature of the float operation, including bus pick-up and drop-off, suggests that enjoying the river is a primary draw. One long-time visitor mentioned returning annually for the experience, often staying in larger cabins and enjoying the communal aspect, including a pool between two rented cabins. This indicates that the location offers a setting conducive to group outings and river-based recreation. However, another review detailed significant issues with the "Wayside House" accommodation, describing it as being in "extremely rough condition" with extensive wear and tear. This suggests that while the natural environment and the river itself might be appealing for those seeking "camping near me," the quality of the lodging can vary considerably depending on the specific option chosen.
In terms of services, Elk River Floats & Wayside Campground provides organized river floating trips with friendly staff and transportation. This aspect of their service received positive feedback. They also offer various housing accommodations, including at least one large cabin (sleeping 18), a 6-person cabin with pool access, and the "Wayside House" (advertised to sleep 10). However, the review of the Wayside House detailed numerous maintenance and cleanliness issues, including broken beds, missing amenities (like picnic tables, smoke/CO detectors), non-functional outlets and light switches, leaks, mold, and doors that don't close or lock properly. This paints a picture of potentially inconsistent service quality depending on the type of accommodation. On the other hand, the positive mention of "amazing hosts" suggests that the hospitality aspect might be a strength for some guests, particularly those in the cabins. Local users looking for "camping near me" should carefully inquire about the specific services and the condition of their chosen lodging before booking.
The features of Elk River Floats & Wayside Campground include direct access to the Elk River for floating, various sizes of cabins to accommodate different group sizes (up to 18 people), and potentially other types of camping or lodging not explicitly detailed. The presence of a pool associated with at least some of the cabin rentals is another notable feature mentioned by a returning visitor. However, the significant issues reported with the Wayside House highlight a potential lack of maintenance and attention to detail in at least one of their accommodations. Features advertised on the website, such as picnic tables and smoke/CO detectors in the Wayside House, were reportedly absent. For local users considering "camping near me," the primary feature seems to be the river floating experience, followed by the availability of different lodging options. It is crucial to ascertain the current condition and amenities of any chosen accommodation to ensure a satisfactory stay.

Elk River Floats & Wayside Campground Reviews
We have gone every year in June for around 5 years now and can't ever wait to go back. We get the 18 person cabin and the 6 person with the pool between us and its a wonderful time. The hosts are amazing and keep us coming back every year!
Apr 10, 2024 · GODFATHERS EXOTICSI want to start out by saying the float itself was great. The staff was friendly. Everything was organized. The bus was prompt in picking up and dropping off. Overall very fun and smooth experience with the actual river rafting float trip.I’m only giving 2 stars because of the housing accommodations. We stayed at the Wayside House. It was in extremely rough condition. The pictures on the website must have been taken several years ago because it looks nothing like depicted. There is extensive overall wear and tear with scuff marks and damage to the walls, cracking plaster, settling of the floors, etc. The house advertises it sleeps 10 but two of the pull out beds were broken and we were not made aware of that before our stay. When we notified the office they said they weren’t aware of that but the damage did not appear new to me. Perhaps nobody reported it before. There are no picnic tables outside like depicted (just one glass patio set in which the chairs and tables are not stable). We could not find any smoke alarms or carbon monoxide detectors as advertised on the website. Multiple outlets do not work. One room had no working light switches. The kitchen sink leaks and there is a coffee canister underneath catching dirty water that smells horrid and that cabinet is full of black mold. The bathroom sink is missing a hot water handle. None of the bathroom doors completely shut or lock, in fact one of the doors drags on the floor due to warping and it’s extremely hard to open and shut at all. There is a large sheet of plywood on the floor in one of the bedrooms that appears to be covering a large hole in the floor of some sort. There are several light switch covers with holes in them and the wiring is exposed. Overall it was extremely dirty and gross. Again when I called the office to express my concerns they said they had no idea and no one had complained before. I find that hard to believe because the extent of the damage to the house looks like it’s been this way for a very long time. I will include pictures. I just want to write this so everyone can be aware of what they are walking into.
Aug 11, 2024 · Miranda BradfieldWe stayed at Off the deep end. The cabin was super clean. It had a grill on site with propane and grill utinsles. Already had toilet paper and hand soap in the bathroom. River entry, and very private through there. Quiet for the most part, but it is right by the train tracks. If that doesn't bother you I would say go for it!!! The bar in Noel is also walking distance away.
Jul 08, 2024 · Amanda JoI have floated with Elk River Floats and Wayside for 20 years and always had a great experience.I wanted to post these photos in response to the unfair review left by Rebecca Terry.Don't get the wrong idea from someone who was leaving a review simply because they were mad they didnt pay attention and suffered the consequences. If you simply follow the rules and check in upon entering the property, instead of helping yourself to the river access and parking (trespassing) you will have a great experience. These are 5 signs she drove past, including the signage of the towing company. They are placed at the entrance to the property. 🤷♀️
Jul 29, 2023 · Lauren ClarkAwesome staff, prices and kid friendly. Nice camp site with adults on one side to party and kiddos on the other side. Only thing... Trash was at a lot of spots since there were no barrels. We picked up others stuff all weekend to teach the kiddos on respecting wildlife and The River 💕 There was a spot we flipped and everyone ( ALL COLORS AND AGES) came together to help. It is amazing how we can all be ONE. 'MERICA. 🇺🇸Another great thing all the kiddos learned... ✌
