Eagles Nest Camp & Canoe Introduce
Looking for a "camping near me" experience right on the scenic Elk River in Noel, Missouri? Eagles Nest Camp & Canoe, located at 53 Eagle Nest Ln, Noel, MO 64854, USA, offers a riverside setting with the added convenience of on-site canoe rentals. You can reach them at (417) 475-3326 or mobile +1 417-475-3326 to inquire about availability and bookings. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground presents a unique blend of natural beauty and a somewhat mixed atmosphere that local users should be aware of.
The environment of Eagles Nest Camp & Canoe is consistently praised for its stunning location directly along the Elk River. Imagine setting up your tent or parking your RV with the soothing sounds of the river just steps away. Reviewers describe the location as "beautiful" and "dreamy," especially for those with campsites right by the water. The river itself offers ample opportunities for recreation, with "plenty of beaches to swim if not floating." This makes it an ideal spot for those who enjoy spending their days by or on the water, whether it's swimming, sunbathing, or simply enjoying the riverside scenery. The natural beauty of the area seems to be a primary draw for many visitors.
In terms of services, Eagles Nest Camp & Canoe appears to offer basic camping amenities. The availability of canoe rentals is a significant feature, making it convenient for guests to explore the Elk River without having to transport their own equipment. One particularly appreciated service is the canoe trip pick-up directly from the campsite area, adding a high level of convenience for those planning a paddling adventure. The campground also sells ice at the office, although one reviewer noted that it is "really high," advising others to purchase ice before arriving. The presence of an on-site office suggests that staff are available for assistance and check-in.
Features of the campground include individual campsites, with both tent camping areas and RV spaces observed by one reviewer. While the campsites are described as "clean," some reviews indicate that they are "pretty close together," which might be a consideration for those seeking more privacy. Fire pits are likely available at each site, as suggested by the provision of firewood at some other local campgrounds (though not explicitly mentioned here). The campground also offers a bathhouse with hot water for showers and an outside sink for washing. While one reviewer found the bathhouse "less than desirable," another described the bathrooms as "clean" and "just what you expect in a camp," indicating a potential variability in individual experiences or expectations.
However, it's important for local users, especially families with children, to be aware of some of the atmosphere described in the reviews. One guest explicitly stated, "I would NOT recommend this spot for kids," citing frequent drinking among campers and the smell of marijuana. The same reviewer also mentioned the "showing of breasts for beads," suggesting an adult-oriented atmosphere during their visit. While this might not be an issue for all adults, it's a crucial consideration for those with children or those seeking a more family-friendly environment. Another reviewer noted the absence of amenities such as laundry or playground areas, reinforcing the impression of a more basic campground geared towards river-based activities and potentially a more adult crowd.
One positive aspect highlighted by a reviewer was the relative quietness of the campground at night, at least during a weekend visit. This suggests that while the days might be lively, the nights offer a chance for peaceful rest. The same reviewer also described the campground as "very family oriented," which seems to contradict the other review regarding the adult atmosphere. This discrepancy highlights the importance of considering multiple perspectives and potentially the variability of the campground's atmosphere depending on the time of visit or the specific group of campers present.
A practical point for local users to note is the earlier-than-usual checkout time of 10 a.m., as mentioned by one reviewer who is accustomed to an 11 a.m. checkout at other campgrounds. This is a small detail but important to factor into your departure plans.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the key selling points appear to be the direct access to the Elk River for swimming and floating, the convenience of on-site canoe rentals with campsite pickup, and the beautiful natural setting. For local users specifically interested in river activities and a more basic camping experience, these features might be appealing. The positive review from someone who loved the campground and plans to return also serves as an implicit endorsement for those whose preferences align with the described atmosphere and amenities.
In conclusion, Eagles Nest Camp & Canoe offers a unique "camping near me" experience for local users in Noel, MO, primarily due to its beautiful location along the Elk River and the convenience of on-site canoe rentals. The campground provides basic amenities and clean campsites, although the bathhouse experience may vary. While one reviewer found it family-oriented and relatively quiet at night, another strongly advised against it for children due to frequent drinking and other adult-oriented behaviors. Potential visitors should weigh these contrasting perspectives and consider their own preferences and the composition of their group when deciding if Eagles Nest Camp & Canoe is the right fit for their local camping adventure. If river activities are your priority and you are comfortable with a potentially more adult atmosphere, this campground could offer a memorable riverside getaway.

Eagles Nest Camp & Canoe Reviews
We stayed for three nights. The camp sites are clean. The bathhouse is less than desirable.. I'd rather "go" in the woods. Thankfully, I have my own bathroom in my camper. There are no amenities such as laundry or playground areas. Just basic campsites. Most of the sites are pretty close together.Checkout is 10 a.m. .most places we've camped checkout is 11.They sell ice at the office, but it really high. Be sure to grab your ice before you come!We celebrated our cousin's birthday by hanging out at the river most of the day. It was truly an all day "party".I would NOT recommend this spot for kids. Most everyone was drinking. The smell of pot was frequent. Not judging.. just being honest. There was also the showing of breasts for beads. No biggie to me. Just a heads up if you are bringing children.
Jun 26, 2022 · Angela GlennI really loved this campground. We had a bit of an issue with timing with the canoe trip but that was due to some miscommunication caused by weather uncertainty. This place is nestled in a beautiful location along the Elk River. Having the river behind my tent was dreamy. Plenty of beaches to swim if not floating. The place is clean and relatively quiet at night for a weekend. Very family oriented. Bathrooms are clean, and just what you expect in a camp. Hot water for a nice shower available. Outside sink for washing other things. I was tent camping, but there was plenty of RV space from what I could see. I'm planning on going back. This place is great even if you're not planning on canoeing. But if you are... they even pick you up at your camp site area! How great is that!!
Jul 19, 2020 · Katheline BenjaminI'd tell you about the experience but they canceled on us the morning of the trip. Edit since owner replied. We weren't scheduled to go when the river was flooded. We actually went to the river, Oct. 28th and were to float on Oct. 29th. Your website allows people to book when it's "off-season." We are now waiting for the money we were charged to be returned to us. If you're closed for the season, your website should reflect that and not allow people to book. At the very least, don't take the money out of our account.
Oct 30, 2024 · thomas barnhouseBuses were late, shower heads were rusty and barely worked, customer service wasn’t at all what I expected. Camp ground was clean and beautiful. It’s literally next to the railroad tracks and you hear trains coming and going. I will not be back. Two sons camping were cleaning up the whole river and were super helpful when they didn’t have to be. IF i ever go back I’ll be staying there. Or riverside.
Sep 15, 2024 · Jessica BascusI loved this place. Very clean. Staff was very friendly. We got picked up right at our campsite for our float that was pretty cool.
