Ericson's Bay Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" that offers a more secluded and adventurous experience? Consider Ericson's Bay Campground, located in Clallam Bay, WA 98326, USA. You can reach them at (360) 565-3100 or their mobile number +1 360-565-3100. Based on customer reviews, this campground provides a unique, often private, and primitive camping experience.
Environment: Sheltered Beauty with Water Access
Ericson's Bay Campground is described as a "great camping spot" with "great views and a quiet setting." Its location within a bay offers shelter from winds that might affect the main lake waters, contributing to a more peaceful environment. The presence of a beach is highlighted as being "great for swimming and for kids," suggesting a family-friendly aspect to the waterfront. The surrounding environment likely includes the natural beauty typical of the Clallam Bay area in Washington, potentially featuring forests and scenic water views.
A key aspect of the environment is its accessibility. While primarily accessed by boat, reviewers mention the possibility of reaching it via an "old trail if you know how to overland," indicating a more adventurous route for those without watercraft or who prefer hiking. The primary mode of access being by water contributes significantly to the campground's often private and secluded atmosphere.
The reviews also mention the potential for insects, advising to "have insect repellent" if the wind dies down. This is a common consideration for camping in natural environments, especially near water during calmer periods.
Services and Amenities: Primitive Camping - Pack Accordingly
Ericson's Bay Campground is explicitly described as "primitive," which means that the services and amenities will be basic. One reviewer notes, "so pack accordingly." Based on the feedback, the only specific amenity mentioned is a privy, which one reviewer described as potentially "a little rough, depending on the time of year." This suggests that campers should expect very minimal facilities.
The lack of mention of standard campground amenities like restrooms with running water, showers, picnic tables, or fire pits implies that these are likely not available. Campers should be prepared to be self-sufficient, bringing their own water, cooking equipment, shelter, and waste disposal provisions. The absence of required reservations also suggests a more informal and less developed camping area.
The beach being suitable for swimming indicates a natural recreational amenity. The availability of "lots of tent spots" suggests that while primitive, the campground can accommodate multiple groups of tent campers.

The standout features of Ericson's Bay Campground include:

Jun 05, 2024 · Armistead Lucas Coleman IIGreat camping spot. The privy can be a little rough, depending on the time of year. The beach is great for swimming and for kids. I recommend paddling over from Swan Bay or putting in a power boat and zooming over. Lots of tent spots. Does not require a reservation.
