As a prominent listing on "Camping Near Me," Findley Campground provides a range of services and amenities designed to enhance your stay in nature. This platform category is dedicated to connecting outdoor enthusiasts with accessible and enjoyable camping spots, and Findley Campground perfectly embodies the spirit of convenient and comfortable outdoor living. Whether you're looking for a weekend getaway or a longer wilderness immersion, Findley Campground caters to a variety of camping styles and preferences.
The environment at Findley Campground is one of its most compelling features. While it's described as a small campground, it offers a distinct sense of spaciousness, with many sites generously spaced out, providing a good degree of privacy for campers. While some sites, like 2 and 3, might be in closer proximity, the overall layout prioritizes a serene and uncrowded atmosphere. The campground is situated on a flat dirt/gravel road, making it accessible even without a 4x4 vehicle, although some reviewers note that if you plan on exploring beyond the campground, particularly on off-road trails, a 4x4 or a vehicle capable of off-roading might be beneficial. For those without such a vehicle, taking Highway 89 is recommended for easy access. The natural setting is quiet, allowing campers to truly unwind and connect with the surrounding wilderness. While direct, easy lake access from the campground itself is not a primary feature, it serves as an excellent base for accessing a myriad of cool lakes, such as Faucherie Lake, via extensive 4x4 trails. This makes Findley Campground particularly attractive to adventurers who enjoy off-road exploration and discovering hidden natural gems.
Regarding services and amenities, Findley Campground is well-equipped to ensure a comfortable and convenient camping experience. All sites are thoughtfully furnished with essential camping provisions. Each site includes a robust bear box, a crucial amenity for safely storing food and deterring wildlife, ensuring peace of mind for campers. Additionally, every site features a fire pit with a grill, perfect for cooking meals outdoors and enjoying classic campfire experiences under the stars. A picnic table is also provided at each site, offering a dedicated space for dining and socializing. For sanitation needs, the campground boasts flush toilets, a significant comfort for many campers compared to more primitive options. Water is also readily available, which is a considerable convenience, eliminating the need to haul in large quantities of drinking water. However, it's important to note that cellular service is generally unavailable at the campground, encouraging a true disconnection from digital distractions and a deeper immersion in nature. This lack of service can be seen as both a feature, promoting a digital detox, and something to be aware of for those who rely on connectivity.
One particular feature to note, as highlighted by past visitors, is the variability in tent spot flatness and size. While the campground is excellent, some sites may not have large, perfectly flat areas suitable for very big family-sized tents. For instance, site 10 (which, according to one review, was actually site 11 on the map, indicating a minor discrepancy to be aware of) had one small tent spot, sufficient for a smaller tent but potentially challenging for a very large one. Campers with larger tents should consider this aspect when planning their stay. Furthermore, one specific recommendation from a previous guest is to avoid site 06, though no specific reason is given for this suggestion, it's worth noting for prospective campers. The overall consensus from real customer reviews points to a very quiet and enjoyable experience, with many expressing a strong desire to return.
Findley Campground's unique appeal lies in its combination of essential amenities, a tranquil environment, and its strategic location as a gateway to extensive 4x4 trails leading to stunning lakes. For those utilizing the "Camping Near Me" platform, Findley Campground represents excellent value and a genuine opportunity for an authentic outdoor adventure. Its quiet atmosphere makes it ideal for relaxation, stargazing, and enjoying the sounds of nature. While it may not offer direct lakeside camping, its proximity to numerous accessible lakes via off-road trails presents a unique advantage for those who enjoy exploring and discovering new scenic spots. The availability of flush toilets, water, bear boxes, fire pits, and picnic tables elevates the camping experience beyond basic wilderness camping, providing comfort and convenience without sacrificing the feeling of being immersed in nature. The overall positive feedback from visitors, highlighting the quietness and enjoyment, reinforces Findley Campground as a highly recommended destination for your next outdoor escape. Remember to plan for the lack of cell service, embrace the quiet, and get ready to explore the beautiful Sierraville region.

FINDLEY CAMPGROUND Reviews
Small campground, some sites like 2 and 3 are really close together but most are very spaced out. Flush toilets and water available. All sites had a bear box, fire pit/grill, and picnic table. Most do not have a big flat tent spot. We stay at site 10 (which on the map was actually site 11, it was not accurate) and it had one small tent spot but would not have fit a big tent if you have a big family. Otherwise, very quiet and we had a great time. Would definitely be back. No close / easy lake access but good access to 4x4 trails to a ton of cool lakes like Faucherie. You do not need a 4x4 vehicle to get to the campground, there is a dirt/gravel road but it is flat.
Jul 11, 2022 · Ilene WildGood campground for the most part. No service. If you don't have a 4x4 or a vehicle that you can take off-road, take highway 89. Also, avoid site 06.
Jul 15, 2024 · Tamim AminiYou literally can't get to this campground unless you have an off-road vehicle. The only road to get there is impassable otherwise. Really wish they had bothered to mention this minor detail somewhere, ANYWHERE when we booked. Drove all the way from the Bay Area only to have to drive all the way back. Our camping weekend could not have been more of a wash.
Jul 19, 2015 · H GrimesThe directions from recreation.gov were a little dicey.. But once we got on track, it was a good time.
Sep 08, 2019 · Steve FGreat place! Water level was super low tho.
