The campsites are noted to be spread out, providing a sense of privacy that is often sought after by campers looking to escape crowded areas. The presence of large sites further enhances the feeling of spaciousness and allows for comfortable setup, regardless of the size of your camping equipment, as one review specifically mentioned the suitability for a teardrop camper. The availability of water pumps ensures access to drinking water, while vault toilets provide essential sanitation. Campers planning to stay here should come prepared with their own power sources (like solar or generators, if allowed, though this should be confirmed with park regulations) and make arrangements for personal hygiene, such as bringing portable showers or utilizing nearby facilities outside the park if needed.
Despite the rustic amenities, Fisherman's Island State Park South Campground boasts several compelling features, primarily centered around its natural setting and the recreational opportunities it affords. The clear waters of Lake Michigan are ideal for these activities during the warmer months. Additionally, the state park itself likely offers hiking trails, allowing visitors to explore the natural beauty of Fisherman's Island and enjoy scenic walks through the woods and along the shoreline. The combination of lakeside relaxation and active outdoor pursuits makes this campground appealing to a variety of campers. The spacious and private campsites contribute to a more enjoyable and less intrusive camping experience, allowing guests to truly unwind and feel connected to their surroundings. Fisherman's Island State Park South Campground Reviews
The most beautiful Campground! Selfishly, I hope it stays a quiet little secret. Sites are spread out and private. I got lucky and snagged one right on the lake and it was the most beautiful way to wake up and settle down for the night. Our teardrop camper was perfect for this trip and I hope to return every year 😊
Aug 10, 2022 · Kristel CoronadoSome campsites are right on Lake Michigan. Most sites are large. Water pumps and vault toilets is all you will get here, no power, no showers. Great place for swimming, paddle boarding, hiking
Sep 08, 2021 · Mike NicholsReally nice camp ground! Beach is spectacular, one of the best I've seen in Michigan. Some of the sites are right on the beach which is incredible. Bathrooms and dumpsters everywhere for convenience. Would highly recommend. Make sure you book early because those beach sites fill up quick.
Sep 04, 2024 · Harry HarrisonHave camped here 3x and have yet to be disappointed. The wooded sites are spacious and most are only a 10-minute walk (through the woods) to the shore. Some sites actually back up to the sand
Sep 19, 2023 · Brianna PitcockWe stopped here to search for rocks, and we were somewhat successful.Long drive back to the end.
