Flintlock Campground Reviews
So happy I found this campground! Stayed here over Memorial Day Weekend and had a wonderful visit. The campground is centrally located, close to several great hikes and overlooks, and "downtown". The staff is the main reason we stayed - I requested availability, then they called to confirm our reservation and the lady I spoke to was so friendly and welcoming, and so excited for us to visit.Very dog friendly, we brought 3, and everyone around us had dogs as well. Very clean, large spaces with wonderful amenities. Beautiful grounds, nice bathrooms/showers, even coin-operated laundry available. Will definitely stay here next time we camp in Boone!Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Jun 13, 2024 · Michelle DabieroSuch an authentically nostalgic, hometown campground right on a small, rushing river with 2 little waterfalls. The log cabin office welcomes you with a burning fire and friendly smiles from Miss Beverly and Jodi who were tremendously helpful with hiking recommendations. I camped at the small camper/tent sites, right on the river, and the RV sites are tighter together on gravel. Kudos to tidy bathrooms and showers that were cleaned each morning. As a solo traveler, feeling safe is #1, and I can't wait to come back on another hiking trip!
Jul 15, 2024 · Cherie BlackledgeFamily tradition the last three years is to come here for Father's Day. It's a wonderful campground. The sites are roomy enough for campfires and picnic tables, some even bigger. The management is very helpful and friendly. The bathrooms, showers (excellent heat & pressure) and laundry are clean. The long term stayers are very friendly and happy. Best part is the safe factor, our kids can run around unsupervised with the plethora of other kids on the playground and in the creek without concern. I highly recommend this campground and can't wait to come back for many more years!!
Jun 16, 2024 · Lila EdwardsI recently had the pleasure of spending an entire week at Flintlock Campground, situated in the picturesque town of Boone, North Carolina. From the moment I arrived, it was evident that this was a special place where they meticulously cared for by both its staff and long-term visitors. One of the first things I noticed upon arrival was the warm welcome I received from the campground staff. They were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, eager to ensure that my stay would be comfortable and enjoyable. Their helpfulness set a positive tone for my entire visit, making me feel immediately at home. The campground itself was maintained and clean, which speaks volumes about the dedication of its caretakers. Every area I explored was well-kept, from the common areas to the individual campsites. My particular site was a real gem, as it backed up to a beautiful stream that flowed through the campground. The soothing sounds of the running water provided a serene backdrop, enhancing the overall camping experience. I took several photos to capture the tranquility of the scene, and they truly do not do it justice.Flintlock Campground offers a variety of accommodations, including simple cabins that add a quaint charm to the area. Although I did not stay in one of the cabins, I took the opportunity to explore them from the outside. They were well-maintained and inviting. It is worth noting, however, (from what I have been told from other visitors) that these cabins do not include bathrooms or kitchenettes. The communal shower and bathroom facilities were clean, at least on the men’s side, which I used during my stay. Cleanliness in shared facilities is always a concern for campers, but Flintlock Campground clearly takes pride in maintaining high standards of hygiene and sanitation. This attention to detail made using these facilities a pleasant experience. For those who need to do laundry during their stay, the campground provides two washers and dryers on the premises (coin operated). This convenience is a thoughtful addition, especially for longer stays or families with children. The availability of laundry facilities added an extra layer of comfort to my camping experience, ensuring that I had everything I needed without having to leave the campground. One aspect of Flintlock Campground that stood out was the sense of community among its visitors. It was apparent that many of the sites were occupied by seasonal campers who return year after year. This consistency suggests a strong track record of visitor satisfaction and excellent campground management. The communal atmosphere was further enhanced by the frequent interactions among guests, many of whom seemed to know each other well. It was heartwarming to see such camaraderie, and it made the campground feel like a close-knit community. The only drawback I noticed was that the campsites are relatively small. However, this compact layout fosters a more community-oriented environment, where neighbors are close enough to interact easily. While some campers might prefer more spacious sites, the cozy setup encourages a social atmosphere, which can be a significant advantage for those looking to make new friends and share experiences.Adding to the charm of Flintlock Campground is the live music from local bands that perform throughout the season. This feature provides delightful entertainment and adds a festive feel to the evenings. It’s a wonderful way to unwind after a day of outdoor activities, and it brings the community together for shared enjoyment.Overall, my week at Flintlock Campground was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The friendly staff, well-maintained facilities, beautiful natural setting, and strong sense of community all contributed to a memorable stay. I was so impressed with my time there that I have already booked another week for next year. I eagerly anticipate my return and look forward to creating more wonderful memories at this charming campground in Boone, NC.
Jun 27, 2024 · Chris BMy favorite thing about this place and probably the main reason I would even consider staying here again is the creek that runs through the campground. It was very peaceful to explore nature and watch the water. The cabins we stayed in weren't bad but they are so close together and had no actual yard area to really stretch out and relax and the beds were terribly uncomfortable. We didn't use the RV or tent camping areas but they also looked super crowded and when I go camping it's usually to get away from other people...not to be crammed in with people not even 10 feet away. The bath house had a horrendous odor that made it nearly impossible to even use the toilet...we skipped showering because it smelled so bad 🤢 It was also located so far away from all camping sites that you definitely get in your exercise just to go pee. This campground is also located on a busy hwy so getting out is super difficult and if I were driving an RV I wouldn't even attempt it.
