Four Jeffrey Campground Introduce
Calling all local adventurers in California! If you're on the hunt for the perfect "Camping Near Me" that combines breathtaking scenery with convenient access to outdoor recreation, look no further than Four Jeffrey Campground. Situated at Mile 16 on CA-168 in Bishop, CA 93514, USA, this campground offers a diverse camping experience for both tent and RV enthusiasts, with stunning mountain vistas and proximity to some of the Eastern Sierra's most prized natural attractions.
Based on recent feedback from fellow campers, Four Jeffrey Campground presents a dynamic atmosphere depending on the time of the week. One visitor who stayed during the first nine days of October 2024 noted a significant shift in occupancy levels. During the weekdays, the campground was relatively quiet, operating at around 15% capacity. However, with the arrival of Friday and the weekend, the campground transformed into a bustling hub, reaching approximately 95% occupancy with numerous large groups. This observation highlights the campground's popularity, especially during peak times, and suggests that planning ahead, particularly for weekend stays, might be advisable for local users.
The environment at Four Jeffrey Campground is characterized by a mix of open and shaded campsites. As one reviewer pointed out, many sites are located in "the wide open with no shade," offering "fantastic views of the mountains." These sun-exposed sites would be ideal for those who prioritize panoramic vistas and soaking up the daytime warmth. However, for campers seeking respite from the sun, there are approximately a dozen sites situated along the outer perimeter that benefit from the shade provided by aspen trees. Adding to the allure, a few of these coveted shaded spots even back directly onto the picturesque Bishop Creek, offering the soothing sounds of flowing water right at your campsite.
Four Jeffrey Campground caters to a variety of camping preferences, accommodating both tent and RV campers. While the reviews indicate that "not many huge RV's" were present during one visitor's stay, it confirms that RVs are welcome. Interestingly, the same reviewer noted that "generators were rare," which suggests a generally quieter and more nature-oriented camping experience, likely appreciated by those seeking tranquility.
When it comes to essential amenities, Four Jeffrey Campground provides flush toilets and sinks in its bathrooms. While one reviewer mentioned that there was "not hot water" at the sinks, they did emphasize that the facilities were "clean." Cleanliness is a crucial aspect of any campground, and this positive feedback suggests that the management prioritizes hygiene for the comfort of their guests.
The level of service at Four Jeffrey Campground appears to be commendable. Multiple reviewers praised the campground hosts, with one describing them as "super nice" and noting that they "circled the place several times a day." The presence of attentive and helpful hosts contributes significantly to a positive camping experience, providing assistance, ensuring safety, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
One of the most significant advantages of Four Jeffrey Campground for local users is its exceptional location. Situated just "10-15 minutes from North Lake, South Lake, Lake Sabrina," it serves as an ideal basecamp for exploring these stunning alpine lakes, renowned for their beauty and recreational opportunities. The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering "all of the hikes and beauty that come with those!" Whether you're passionate about hiking scenic trails, fishing in pristine waters, cycling along mountain roads, or kayaking on serene lakes, Four Jeffrey Campground puts you within easy reach of a multitude of adventures.
For those seeking specific campsite recommendations, one reviewer highly recommended "site #10," describing it as "definitely one of the nicest, in our opinion." This particular site offered a desirable combination of "partial shade, backing to the creek and decent spacing from the neighboring sites," highlighting the variety and appeal of individual campsites within the campground.
Another visitor who came specifically for "fall foliage in mid-October" lauded Four Jeffrey Campground as "an excellent location near South Lake and Lake Sabrina" for this purpose. They described the scene as "clean, beautiful, quiet and airy," further emphasizing the serene and aesthetically pleasing environment. This reviewer also echoed the sentiment about the "restroom" being "clean" and noted that "the manager is friendly." Practical amenities such as "wood for $9 a pack" were also mentioned, advising campers to "get your coins ready." Finally, the information that "many sites are first come, first serve" is crucial for planning, suggesting that arriving early, especially during peak times, might be beneficial to secure a desired spot.

Four Jeffrey Campground Reviews
My wife and I camped at Four Jeffrey Campground for the first 9 days of October, 2024. During our first weekday period the camp was maybe 15% full. Come Friday and the weekend, however, the camp was 95% full, with lots of large groups. Then, come Monday, I bet the place was 5% full. What a difference! The camp offers many sites that are out in the wide open with no shade, but fantastic views of the mountains. However, there are maybe a dozen or so sites along the outer perimeter that offer aspen tree shade. And, a few of these back up to Bishop Creek. There was a wide mix of tent and RV campers. Not many huge RV's however, and generators were rare during our stay, thankfully! The bathrooms are flush with a sink, not hot water, but clean. The hosts were super nice and circled the place several times a day.The location is fantastic, being 10-15 minutes from North Lake, South Lake, Lake Sabrina and all of the hikes and beauty that come with those! We stayed in site #10, which was definitely one of the nicest, in our opinion. It offered partial shade, backing to the creek and decent spacing from the neighboring sites.
Oct 23, 2024 · Rob VomundWe came here for fall foliage in mid-October. It is an excellent location near South Lake and Lake Sabrina. Clean, beautiful scene, quiet and airy. The restroom is clean, too. The manager is friendly. There are wood for $9 a pack, so get your coins ready. Many sites are first come, first serve.
Oct 23, 2024 · Anyi ChaoFantastic reservable campground at the base of an incredible outdoor playground. We timed the season just right so we got to see the beautiful aspens in their full display of color. Sites 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 are amongst the aspens, with the lower numbers being closest to the raging creek (if you appreciate that background noise). We camped on a mid-October weekend, and the campground was full, so we didn't feel totally alone but yet it was extremely peaceful (the cold probably scares away the fair weather campers). Potable water available, although in the late season temperatures, it was not available in the mornings as the spigots froze overnight (so come prepared with your own extra water), and the bathrooms were clean (despite the full campgrounds). No overflowing trash in the bins, and I'd say everyone there was doing their part to keep this beautiful spot clean. Camp hosts were very nice, and checked with folks every evening. About 15 minutes from the town of Bishop in case you forget something, or your length of stay requires a grocery trip. In the warmer months, I'd definitely bring a pop up, or shade structure, since most of these sites are in exposed sagebrush. Dog friendly; please leash your dogs! Even though your's may be friendly, others are in training/timid/etc., and there's nothing worse than stressing over someone's off-leash dog coming over to say hello when trying to relax in the outdoors. Not to mention when we were there, a collared mountain lion had several pings in the meadow behind the aspens. Lovely magical spot under the care of the National Forest Service. Well done!
Oct 21, 2024 · Courtney Rosiak-QuintoVery good campground. The view is amazing in fall. You can camp beside the fall leaves and river. The best part is that it is flush toilet and it has light in the restrooms.
Nov 11, 2024 · Tan 譚Jim 宇均Nestled amidst the Eastern Sierra Nevada, Four Jeffrey Campground offers a perfect escape for those seeking a tranquil early summer getaway. June temperatures provide warm days averaging around 65°F and crisp nights dipping into the mid-40s. The campground has lively creek, its fast-flowing waters providing a constant soundtrack and a potential spot for fishing (depending on regulations). Scattered trees line the creek banks, offering shade for some campsites.Spacious, open sites dominate the central area, ideal for large groups. For those seeking shade, options closer to the creek might be preferable. All sites come equipped with essential amenities like bear boxes, fire pits, and picnic tables. The well-maintained restrooms feature flush toilets and sinks, but remember to pack your own soap and paper towels as these are not provided.
