Gafvert Campground Introduce
Attention local camping enthusiasts! Are you on the hunt for a fantastic "camping near me" experience that combines natural beauty with a sense of privacy and access to outdoor activities? Look no further than Gafvert Campground, situated on S Net Lake Rd in Holyoke, MN 55749, USA. Based on enthusiastic feedback from fellow campers, Gafvert Campground appears to be a hidden gem offering a unique and enjoyable camping environment.
The environment at Gafvert Campground is highly praised for its beauty and seclusion. One camper exclaimed, "I absolutely LOVE Gafvert CG!!! Beautiful sites for our 32' camper and most of the sites are surrounded by trees and brush, so you're really secluded!" This highlights the spaciousness of the campsites, accommodating even larger campers, and the natural screening provided by the surrounding trees and brush, offering a greater sense of privacy compared to more open campgrounds. This secluded atmosphere allows campers to truly immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature.
In terms of services and features, Gafvert Campground offers a blend of natural and practical amenities. Notably, one reviewer mentioned the abundance of firewood available for foraging, stating, "...there is plenty of fire wood available to foraging so you don't have to bring a ton with you! Plus it help keep the campground groomed!!" This is a significant convenience for campers who enjoy campfires and also contributes to the maintenance of the campground. The campground comprises a total of 18 campsites, thoughtfully divided with "ten down by the lake and another eight up the hill." This variety offers different camping experiences, whether you prefer lakeside views and access or a hilltop setting. Both areas are equipped with a "well water pump," providing a source of potable water for campers, and "pit toilets that have 12 inch vent pipes (meaning they don't smell like hell)," indicating an effort to maintain clean and odor-free restroom facilities.
Another feature of Gafvert Campground, as mentioned by a reviewer, is its proximity to ATV trails. While acknowledging "4 wheeler noise," the reviewer clarifies that it's generally "good noise" as the ATVs, motorcycles, and quads are primarily on the trails rather than within the campground itself. This suggests that Gafvert Campground serves as a convenient base for those interested in exploring the local trails with their off-road vehicles. For ATV enthusiasts looking for "camping near me" with direct trail access, this could be a major draw.
The campground also demonstrates a commitment to accessibility. Site #12 is specifically designated as an "accessibility site" and is reserved for non-disabled individuals only if it is the last spot open on any given day. This thoughtful consideration ensures that those with accessibility needs have priority access to a suitable campsite.
Promotional information for Gafvert Campground could emphasize:
- Beautiful and spacious campsites, many offering excellent seclusion due to surrounding trees and brush, accommodating even 32' campers.
- The availability of firewood for foraging, reducing the need to bring large quantities.
- A total of 18 campsites with options near the lake or on a hill, catering to different preferences.

I missed getting a picture of #7. #12 is an accessibility site and can only be taken by non-disabled if it is the last spot open that day.
Oct 04, 2019 · LaLaLaLa LESTERSorry, not for me. Too many big rig RVs. Too many big ATV trailers. Too many ATVs driving thru the campground. And it was packed on a Fall Friday morning. But it is a pretty and scenic spot.
Oct 11, 2021 · r k (argee)Nice camping spot especially for the fall colors. 4WD is prominent here so it can be loud at night when people are wheelin'.
Oct 12, 2021 · Brittni DyeAmazing dark sky spot for the stars and Milky Way! Perfect for astronomy enthusiasts. When doing astrophotography, there's a little bit of light pollution to the northeast from Duluth and a little to the south from the Twin Cities metro but it is pretty negligible and not that noticeable by the naked eye.
