Gleasons Landing Introduce
For local users in Michigan searching within the "camping near me" category, Gleasons Landing, located on S Brooks Rd in Baldwin, MI 49411, USA, offers a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in nature along the scenic Pere Marquette River. Based on customer reviews, this campground is a "great spot to enjoy nature" and is particularly appealing for those seeking easy access to the river and a generally well-maintained camping environment. If you're looking for a tranquil riverside camping experience close to home, Gleasons Landing is definitely worth considering.
The environment at Gleasons Landing is clearly a major draw, with its "beautiful location on the Pere Marquette River." This pristine river is renowned for its natural beauty and recreational opportunities. Campers can likely expect picturesque views of the river, the soothing sounds of flowing water, and easy access for activities such as fishing, wading, or simply relaxing by the riverbank. The presence of tent camping sites "right on the river" further emphasizes this close connection to the water, offering a truly immersive experience. Beyond the river, the surrounding area is described as a place to "enjoy nature," suggesting the presence of woodlands, natural vegetation, and opportunities for observing local wildlife. The mention of "decent sized campsites" indicates that campers can expect adequate space to set up their tents and enjoy their personal camping area without feeling cramped. However, it's important to note that some campsites are "a bit of a walk from the parking area," so be prepared to transport your gear accordingly.
In terms of services, Gleasons Landing appears to provide essential amenities for a comfortable camping experience. The mention of a "pretty clean vault toilet" is a significant positive, indicating that while the restroom facilities might be basic, they are maintained to a reasonable standard of cleanliness. The availability of "easy to find firewood" is another convenient service for campers who plan to enjoy campfires for cooking or ambiance. The fact that campsites are of a "decent size" contributes to the overall comfort and usability of the campground. However, the review also highlights a crucial point about accessibility: some sites require a walk from the parking area. This suggests that while the campsites themselves are good, campers should be prepared for a short trek with their gear. The reviewer recommends bringing "wagons or baskets on wheels" if you plan to bring more than you can easily carry. For those who pack light, this might not be an issue, but it's an important consideration for others.
The features of Gleasons Landing are strongly tied to its natural setting. The primary feature is undoubtedly the easy access to the Pere Marquette River, with some campsites located directly on its banks. This provides unparalleled opportunities for river-related activities. The "decent sized campsites" are a feature that contributes to a more enjoyable stay, allowing for comfortable setup and personal space. The availability of firewood on-site adds to the convenience for campers wanting to have campfires. The overall environment, described as a "great spot to enjoy nature" and a "beautiful location," is itself a key feature, offering a peaceful and scenic backdrop for a camping getaway. However, one important feature to be aware of, as highlighted by a reviewer, is the presence of ticks. Campers are advised that "the tics are pretty bad this year" and should take necessary precautions to protect themselves.
Currently, no specific promotional information is available for Gleasons Landing. However, for local users exploring "camping near me," the inherent appeal of a riverside campground with easy river access could be considered a significant draw. Always a great spot to enjoy nature, pretty clean vault toilet, decent sized campsites, easy to find firewood, easy access to the river, some campsites are a bit of a walk from the parking area so bring your wagons or baskets on wheels unless you pack light. The tics are pretty bad this year so be mindful of that and have fun.
Jun 30, 2022 · Shelby McMullenBeautiful location on the Pere Marquette River. Also has tent camping sites available right on the river.
Nov 21, 2023 · Frank PostReally nice place. Discovered they have group camping area right on the river. Perfect place to replace and dip your toes on the water. Crystal clear water, and fast moving.
Nov 17, 2020 · Sandy BottomsA very good spot to access the river for paddling or fishing. There was nit much of a fishermans trail upstream of the landing proper. I did not venture downstream as the campground lies in that direction. The campground looks good and well kept. It would be a great base for your visit.
Sep 23, 2024 · James McKeeIt was one exiting trip out there with my uncle. When we got there we were assaulted by mosquitoes but that usually does not happen.we went canoeing we had a nice campfire just being out in the wilderness. The stars are amazing at night just a beautiful sight.
