The environment at Ludington East / Pere Marquette River KOA Holiday seems geared towards a fun and active experience. While one reviewer noted the quiet during a weekday stay, others highlighted the abundance of activities, particularly for children. The campground features a "jumping pillow, playground, and pool," all conveniently located near some of the campsites, such as site #104. These amenities suggest a lively atmosphere where kids can easily make friends and stay entertained. The proximity to Ludington, only about 30 minutes away, also provides opportunities to explore the local area, with one reviewer mentioning a pleasant biking trip there. For local users seeking "camping near me" with a focus on family fun and outdoor activity, this KOA seems well-suited.
Accommodations at this KOA include deluxe cabins, which one reviewer who typically uses a travel trailer found to be a "very good experience," noting they were "clean, well stocked." This suggests that the cabins offer a comfortable alternative to traditional camping, especially for those who might need or prefer a more sheltered lodging option. While the review mentioned fewer campers during the weekdays, indicating a potentially quieter environment then, the overall impression of the cabins is positive. The availability of cabins adds another layer of appeal for local users looking for "camping near me" with varied lodging choices.
For those with children, the Ludington East / Pere Marquette River KOA Holiday seems to be a hit. One parent mentioned, "There were so many activities for my son to do that he was wiped out at the end of the day," and that he "made friends easily, which had him outside playing until dark every day." Pet owners will also appreciate the inclusion of a dog park, with one reviewer mentioning that their "doggies had fun running around" there. This thoughtful amenity ensures that furry family members can also enjoy the camping experience in a safe and designated space. For local users who don't want to leave their pets behind when they go camping, the presence of a dog park is a notable benefit.
In terms of basic amenities, the campground offers bathhouses with clean showers, hot water, and good water pressure, although there might be a short wait depending on the time of day, as one reviewer noted two showers in the ladies' room near the office. Laundry services are also mentioned as a potential offering, though one reviewer didn't need them during their weekday stay, and the camp store was closed at that time. It's advisable for local users to inquire about the operating hours of the camp store and the availability of laundry facilities when booking.
One minor point raised in the reviews concerns the Wi-Fi. While the KOA offers an open line (no password), one visitor experienced trouble connecting throughout their stay, even when located near the tower. While this wasn't a major issue for them, they advised that those planning to work remotely should take this into consideration. For local users who rely on consistent internet access, this is a point to be aware of.

Ludington East / Pere Marquette River KOA Holiday Reviews
Stayed in a deluxe cabin for 3 nights. It was our first experience at renting a cabin as we have a travel trailer but husband is having health problems so we opted for a cabin. Very good experience, it’s clean, well stocked. Not many here as we stayed during weekdays, camp store wasn’t open, and didn’t need any services such as laundry or bathhouses. Only about 30 minutes from Ludington where we biked. Would definitely stay again!
Oct 10, 2024 · Jeff McgeheeI took some time to read 1 - and 2-star reviews to address some concerns, and it looks like they are from more than 2 years ago.Personally, if I know what to expect beforehand, I have no issues with each KOA's unique quirkyness. With that said, I have been to campgrounds that let you know ahead of time that there is no wifi. This KOA has an open line (no password), but we had trouble getting wifi the entire time. They tried to reset the router, and as you can see in the pictures, we were next to the tower, but we were unable to get wifi the entire time we were there. That is not a big deal to us, but if you plan on working remotely, take it into consideration.I can't speak for the cabins, but our site #104 was great. We were close to the jumping pillow, playground, and pool. There were so many activities for my son to do that he was wiped out at the end of the day. He made friends easily, which had him outside playing until dark every day.The staff is incredibly friendly, and my son had a blast at the pool party. We only stayed 2 nights (Saturday & Sunday) and the majority of campers left Sunday morning. Even though there weren't a lot of campers on Sunday, the staff made sure the kids had plenty of activities. There was a group of campers celebrating a birthday way past quiet hours(2am). My husband had trouble sleeping, but it didn't bother me.Making memories and hearing the excitement in my son's voice over something fun he just did is worth it to me.We were near the dog park, and my doggies had fun running around. There are 2 showers in the ladies' room near the office. Depending on what time you go, there may be a little wait. The showers are clean, the water hot, and great pressure.I can't wait to go back.
Jul 03, 2024 · Jaimie CorvettiGreat camping location for full hook ups (what we have). Lots of trees and a whole lot of activities for the whole family! About a 30 minute drive to Ludington State Park. Staff was mostly friendly, stopping to say hello and ask if we needed anything on their wood runs. Newer employees could use some more training before having them run activities by themselves. Overall, we will be back!
Jun 16, 2024 · Kayleen O'DonnellCamped here with my family a couple weeks ago. (Two adults and three kiddos) VERY spacious camp sites, absolutely amazing service. I especially loved all the events and things to do so your kids are occupied! The young woman who set up the event was so kind and patient. She even did a spectacular little glitter tattoo on my kid! I asked this woman her name and I believe it was lexi? Come to koa when you get a chance! It’s great!
Aug 12, 2024 · Peachy CandyMy family and I had an incredible stay! The campground hosts went way above and beyond in several different ways to make sure it was a great experience. We had everything we needed available to us and there were plenty of activities. The campsite was private, shaded, and huge. Everything was very clean and easy to find. The staff was readily available and so helpful!!Honestly, I could have packed lighter if I had realized just how much the campground has to offer. Prices are reasonable at the camp store. I forgot oil to cook with and was able to get a container for just a couple dollars. The firewood for sale was dense, lasting, thick cuts - unlike some campgrounds that sell basically kindling you burn through in an hour.We had all the amenities I expect from KOA, but it felt like 'real camping' as well, and I fell asleep to the sound of owls. The forest and surrounding area are beautiful. We will be back!
