Grandview Camping & Cottages Introduce
Searching for "camping near me" that offers a peaceful and well-maintained environment? Look no further than Grandview Camping & Cottages, located at 89 N Moodus Rd, Moodus, CT 06469, USA. This charming campground, situated in a quiet community, is consistently praised for its meticulous upkeep, tranquil atmosphere, and friendly service. While it may be smaller than some larger campgrounds, its features and the positive experiences of past visitors make it an attractive option for local users seeking a relaxing and enjoyable outdoor getaway.
The environment at Grandview Camping & Cottages is a key highlight for many visitors. The campground is described as "beautifully manicured" and "well looked after," indicating a high level of care in maintaining the grounds. All campsites benefit from a "grassy area," providing a pleasant and comfortable space for setting up tents or enjoying outdoor activities right at your site. The overall size of the campground is noted as "not too big," which contributes to its intimate and quiet atmosphere. For those seeking a serene escape, Grandview Camping & Cottages appears to offer a welcome respite from busier, more crowded camping destinations. One reviewer specifically mentioned the campground being "extremely quiet here during the week," with weekends becoming a bit more lively but still maintaining a peaceful atmosphere with quiet hours observed by 9-10 pm.
Grandview Camping & Cottages offers a range of services and amenities designed to enhance the comfort and convenience of your stay. The presence of a "nice pool, well maintained" is a significant draw, providing a refreshing way to cool off during warmer months. The pool area also features "plenty of lounge chairs," ensuring ample space for relaxation and sunbathing. The washrooms are particularly noteworthy, described as "super nice" and even featuring "a few historical pieces," adding a unique touch to the facilities. This attention to detail in maintaining clean and appealing washrooms is a testament to the campground's commitment to guest comfort.
The hosts at Grandview Camping & Cottages are consistently praised for their friendly and helpful demeanor. Visitors have described them as "very friendly and helpful," contributing to the welcoming and positive atmosphere of the campground. The office provides essential amenities for purchase, including "ice and fire wood," crucial for any camping trip. Additionally, the availability of "ice cream" offers a delightful treat, especially during warmer weather. The office also features a "common area upstairs if needed," providing a potential space for guests to gather, perhaps for socializing or seeking shelter during inclement weather. The staff is also noted for being "very dog friendly," making Grandview Camping & Cottages an excellent choice for those traveling with their canine companions.
The campsites themselves at Grandview Camping & Cottages cater to different needs. One reviewer who stayed on site W1 for a week highlighted that it offered "full hookup" for RVs, along with "tons of room" and easy "pull thru" access. However, they also noted that this particular site was "open" with "no real shade," which is important for campers to consider based on their preferences and the time of year. The site was also described as "pretty level," which is ideal for setting up RVs and ensuring a comfortable stay. While this specific site was open, the general mention of grassy areas for all sites suggests that other locations within the campground might offer varying degrees of shade.
While Grandview Camping & Cottages may not have an extensive list of on-site activities, particularly for children ("There is not a lot to do here for kids, just an FYI"), its strengths lie in its peaceful environment, well-maintained facilities, and friendly service. Importantly, the campground's location offers the convenience of being "very close to a lot of stores," with most being within a 10-minute drive. This proximity to local amenities makes it easy to stock up on supplies or explore the offerings of the surrounding area without venturing too far. The quiet and relaxing atmosphere, combined with the accessibility to nearby conveniences, presents a balanced appeal for those seeking a tranquil camping experience with the option to easily access necessities.

Grandview Camping & Cottages Reviews
This place is situated in a quiet community. It's beautifully manicured, well looked after and not too big. All sites have a grassy area. The pool area has plenty of lounge chairs. The washrooms are super nice with a few historical pieces. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. The office sells a few amenities, ice and fire wood, and ice cream 😃, as well, has a common area upstairs if needed. I recommend this campground and hope to return on another vacation in the future.
Aug 25, 2024 · J PgeWe stayed on site W1 for a week. Full hookup, tons of room at this site. It's an open site, so no real shade if that's what you are looking for. Site was pretty level and easy pull thru. It's extremely quiet here during the week. The weekends get a bit busier, but it was quiet by 9-10 every night. They have a nice pool, well maintained. There is not a lot to do here for kids, just an FYI if you are looking for that. The campground is small, but beautiful. Open fields, and did I mention quiet! The camp store doesn't really have much, but the campground is very close to a lot of stores. Most within 10 minutes. We found the staff to be very friendly. It is also very dog friendly here too. We would definitely come back!
Aug 06, 2024 · The Bates Motel RVAll though the scenery was very beautiful. Our cottage had no a.c my family had complained for 2 days with the extreme heat . we had 2 small children. we were moved the day before we were going to leave. One of the staff members had to my fiance that they didn't know about the problems and they weren't sure what to do ,after we all had complained how unbearable it was . The beds are so uncomfortable I'm sure jail mattresses would feel better.I just wish we had better service because some of the staff is actually nice and would've been a better stay had we'd been accommodated the first 6 times we had complained in one day . Wouldn't recommend it.
Aug 05, 2024 · Jasmine DaRosaWe stayed there with our camping group (Charter Oak Camping Club) opening weekend in April 2024. Our group consisted of 14 families. The sites we spacious and the views were great. Valarie, Alica and Vince were great to work with throughout the process of making our reservations and while there. From checking in to when we left, they were very accommodating and went well above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this campground when in the area.
Apr 22, 2024 · John BovaGrandview campground presentation is very nice ,prices are reasonable, sites extremely small for bumper pull campers , they say they are a family campground but they are not , the manager Vince is on a power trip and is running the general operations of the campground similar to a dictatorship, what there is of a playground its not kid friendly, can't put down camping rugs but can set up tents on the grass , you have to buy their bundles of wood at 7 plus bucks a bundle and is extremely dry so you go threw the bundle in a hour . The reason you can't bring your wood is because they are afraid of getting bugs in their campground that are evasive from other states but I was from conneticut. The claim to have wooded sites but all their sites are the same as camping in a field at a state park with hardly any trees . The manager was mowing at 7 a.m which is rude . They have rules to follow but there ,but what there was of kids they where running around way after 11 p.m of noise time . The camp store was barely stocked. They claim to cater to family and friends yea if it's their friends and they where letting these friends and families use their firewood off these friends own vehicles. So if I can give 10 negative stars I would . Going here was a waste of a great holiday weekend. And if you bring your dog(s) they want you to bring the dogs medical records which is not a good business practice. Every other campgrounds we've been too all the wanted to see was our little monster man rabies tag not his whole medical history. So we will never go back here even if they are the only place in conneticut
