Grapevine Campground Introduce
For local residents in Kentucky and those seeking "camping near me" in the Phyllis area, Grapevine Campground, located at 100 Old Rd, Phyllis, KY 41554, offers a no-frills, first-come-first-serve camping experience. The availability of a phone number ((606) 437-7496 or +1 606-437-7496) provides a direct line for local users to gather more immediate information, though the customer reviews offer valuable insights into the campground's environment, services, and features.
Based on recent customer feedback, the environment at Grapevine Campground appears to be clean and generally quiet, especially when visiting on a weekday. The campsites are described as being spaced out reasonably well compared to some other campgrounds, potentially offering a bit more privacy and a less crowded feel. The presence of fishing opportunities is noted, with small striper being caught. This suggests that the campground is likely located near a body of water suitable for fishing, enhancing the natural appeal for anglers looking for "camping near me" with recreational activities. The excellent cell service reported is a significant advantage for those who wish to stay connected while enjoying the outdoors, although it's important to note that Wi-Fi is not available.
The services at Grapevine Campground seem to be quite basic, operating on a first-come-first-serve basis. Payment is conducted via a cash pay box, indicating a self-service model with no on-site employees regularly present. While this might appeal to those who prefer a more independent camping experience, it also means that immediate assistance or information might not be readily available on-site. The cleanliness of the park is a positive aspect highlighted by a reviewer. However, there was a mention of miscommunication with the Rangers, suggesting that park rangers may patrol the area but are not the primary point of contact for campground operations. The review also points out a past allowance of cutting firewood, which is no longer permitted, indicating a change in park rules that potential campers should be aware of. The need for a designated kayaks docking area was also raised, as using the boating docks for kayaks was reportedly prohibited and hazardous due to a slick concrete surface that caused injuries.
Key features of Grapevine Campground, as gleaned from the reviews, include electric sites, which are popular and can fill up quickly, especially on weekends. The first-come-first-serve policy means that reservations are not taken, and securing a site, particularly one with electricity, might require arriving early, especially on busier days. The quiet atmosphere (for the most part) and the reasonably spaced-out campsites contribute to a more peaceful camping experience compared to potentially more crowded alternatives. The fishing opportunities are a notable feature for those interested in angling. The excellent cell service is a modern convenience that some campers will appreciate. Conversely, the lack of Wi-Fi might be a drawback for those who need internet access. The reviews also highlight the need for improvements such as a dedicated kayak docking area and more gravel on the campsites to aid in leveling campers.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided text. Local users interested in potential discounts for extended stays, off-season rates, or any other special offers should contact Grapevine Campground directly using the provided phone number. Given the self-service nature of the campground with payment via a cash box, it's less likely that elaborate promotional campaigns are in place. However, it's always worth inquiring about any potential cost-saving opportunities or local resident discounts when calling.
For local users considering Grapevine Campground for their "camping near me" needs, the reviews offer a mixed but informative picture. The clean and relatively quiet environment, coupled with the availability of electric sites and fishing, are positive aspects. The first-come-first-serve policy requires flexibility in arrival times, especially for securing electric sites. The lack of on-site employees and the cash-only payment system are important operational details to note. The reported issues with ranger communication and the hazardous kayak docking situation are points of concern that potential campers might want to be aware of. The suggestion for more gravel on campsites for leveling could be relevant for RV campers.
Local users planning a trip to Grapevine Campground should be prepared with cash for the pay box and consider arriving on a weekday to increase their chances of securing an electric site. If kayaking is planned, it would be wise to inquire about designated launching and landing areas to avoid any issues or hazards at the boating docks. While firewood cutting is no longer allowed, campers will need to bring their own firewood or purchase it locally if campfires are desired (following any park regulations regarding firewood). The excellent cell service allows for communication and information access, but the absence of Wi-Fi should be factored into connectivity plans.
In conclusion, Grapevine Campground in Phyllis, KY, offers a basic, first-come-first-serve camping experience in a reportedly clean and relatively quiet environment with fishing opportunities and excellent cell service. Local users seeking "camping near me" should be aware of the self-service payment system, the lack of on-site employees, and the potential challenges with securing electric sites on weekends. While specific promotional information is unavailable, contacting the provided phone number might yield further details. The customer reviews offer valuable, albeit mixed, insights into the campground's environment, services, and features, allowing local campers to make a more informed decision about whether Grapevine Campground suits their needs for a local outdoor getaway.

Sites are first come first serve. Pay in a pay box with cash. No employees in site. Park is clean and nice. Excellent cell service. No wifi. Recommend going on a weekday. We got the very last electric site. Campground is quiet for my st part and spaced out pretty good compared to some. Fishing was pretty good, all small striper.
Jun 06, 2024 · Heather NewThere was such a miscommunication with the Rangers. They did communicate with each other well. You can cut firewood up, you use to be able. You need a kayaks docking area. YOU CAN NOT PUT A KAYAKS ON BOATING DOCKS!@ We was told that is where you put them n it was so so so super slick that we all kept falling on concrete..There was a family member that did get hurt..I will not dock kayaks there ever..needs more gravel bc it makes it easier to level your camper.
