My wife and I booked campsite number 101 for our tent. Great first impressions! We loved the entrance to the campground. The bathrooms were nice and clean, and the shower facilities were clean and roomy. My only complaint is about the water. It had a strong metallic taste and smell. There was also no sink for washing dishes. The campground is built for RVs, and it only offers three spots for tents. We stayed in the first walk-in spot for tents. It was nice being surrounded by the woods and very close to the bathroom. It's a good spot for small tents, up to a four-person tent maximum. The ground is uneven; you can tell the spot is pretty new. There are fire pits and a picnic table for the site. The place was quiet, the people were friendly and nice, but at night it gets pretty exotic. You can hear lions going crazy throughout the night, and in the morning you can hear people shooting at the range with AR-15s. The place is perfect for RV campers with kids. - LEO VOORHEIS

Brown County Reforestation Camp Campground Introduce

For local users in the Green Bay, Wisconsin area searching for "camping near me," Brown County Reforestation Camp Campground, located at 4418 Reforestation Rd, Green Bay, WI 54313, USA, offers a camping experience primarily geared towards RV travelers, with limited options available for tent campers. Based on recent customer reviews, the campground boasts clean facilities and a pleasant initial impression, but potential visitors should be aware of certain unique environmental factors and the campground's primary focus on RVs.

When considering "camping near me," the environment and overall atmosphere of the campground are crucial. Brown County Reforestation Camp Campground is situated off Reforestation Road, suggesting a location surrounded by woodlands, which was appreciated by a tent camper who enjoyed being "surrounded by the woods." The entrance to the campground left a "Great first impression," indicating an aesthetically pleasing arrival. However, it's important to note that the campground is located near both a shooting range and an area where exotic animals, specifically lions, can be heard, especially at night. One reviewer mentioned hearing "lions going crazy throughout the night" and "people shooting at the range with AR-15s" in the morning, which could be a significant factor for those sensitive to noise or seeking a more traditional nature-focused camping experience. The initial area of the campground has "very young trees and open across the entire camp," which might lack the desired shade and seclusion for some campers, although areas "farther back and to the west seems to have more trees and maybe better separation between the sites."

The services at Brown County Reforestation Camp Campground appear to be well-maintained, particularly the restroom and shower facilities. Multiple reviewers praised the cleanliness of the "bathrooms," which include "flush toilets." The "shower facilities were clean and roomy," with access from the front of the building. For the men's restroom, there were "2stalls and a urinal with 1 stall being handicap accessible," indicating attention to accessibility. However, a significant drawback mentioned by a tent camper was the quality of the water, which had "a strong metallic taste and smell." Additionally, there was "no sink for washing dishes" available for tent campers. The campground does offer "drinking water station," as mentioned by one reviewer in a potentially different section of the campground, but the taste and smell issue remain a concern. Each campsite is equipped with "fire pits and a picnic table," which are standard and appreciated amenities for outdoor cooking and dining.

The features of Brown County Reforestation Camp Campground highlight its primary design for RVs. One reviewer explicitly stated, "The campground is built for RVs, and it only offers three spots for tents." This limited number of tent sites suggests that tent campers might need to book in advance, especially during peak seasons. One of the tent sites, specifically the "first walk-in spot for tents," is described as "nice being surrounded by the woods and very close to the bathroom." It is noted as being suitable for "small tents, up to a four-person tent maximum," and the ground was reported as "uneven," indicating that tent campers should choose their spot carefully for comfort. The RV sites are described as "large camp spots" by one reviewer, implying ample space for recreational vehicles. The campground seems capable of handling a significant number of visitors without overwhelming the facilities, as one reviewer noted "Even with a full camp I never saw much of a line for the bathrooms or the showers during the bike race weekend." The "walk in" campsite mentioned by another reviewer was "hardly a walk from the parking lot right next to it," suggesting easy access for loading and unloading gear, despite being designated as a walk-in site.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Brown County Reforestation Camp Campground based on the provided reviews. However, the fact that the campground was able to accommodate visitors during a busy "bike race weekend" when other campgrounds were full suggests its capacity and potential availability even during peak times. For local users seeking "camping near me" during popular events in the Green Bay area, Brown County Reforestation Camp Campground might be a viable option to check for availability. To inquire about any potential seasonal rates, booking procedures, or specific amenities for RV and tent sites, it is recommended to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (920) 448-6242 or +1 920-448-6242.

The overall impression of Brown County Reforestation Camp Campground is somewhat mixed due to its primary focus on RVs and the unique environmental factors. While the facilities, particularly the restrooms and showers, are consistently praised for their cleanliness, the limited number and quality of tent sites, the metallic taste and smell of the water, and the sounds from the nearby shooting range and exotic animals are important considerations for potential visitors. The friendly and nice people mentioned by one reviewer contribute to a positive social atmosphere within the campground.

For local RV owners in the Green Bay area seeking "camping near me," Brown County Reforestation Camp Campground appears to be a well-equipped option with clean facilities and potentially good availability. The large RV sites and the positive feedback regarding the restrooms and showers make it a convenient choice. However, RVers might also want to inquire about the water quality and the noise levels from the surrounding areas. For tent campers, the limited number of sites, uneven ground in at least one tent area, lack of dishwashing facilities, and the water issue might make it a less ideal choice compared to campgrounds specifically designed for tent camping.

In conclusion, Brown County Reforestation Camp Campground in Green Bay, Wisconsin, offers a camping experience primarily tailored for RV travelers, with a few tent sites available. Its clean restrooms and showers are notable positives. However, potential visitors should be aware of the limited number and potential unevenness of tent sites, the reported metallic taste and smell of the water, the lack of dishwashing facilities for tent campers, and the potential for noise from a nearby shooting range and exotic animals. For local users searching for "camping near me," especially RV owners, Brown County Reforestation Camp Campground is worth considering, but it is advisable to contact them directly for specific site information and to address any concerns about the environmental factors and water quality.
