The environment of Pound River Campground is primarily defined by its close proximity to the Pound River. One reviewer specifically mentions the availability of "great grass for a tent by the side of the river," suggesting that at least some campsites offer direct access to the riverbank. This riverside setting naturally lends itself to a tranquil atmosphere, with the gentle sounds of the river potentially enhancing the camping experience. The presence of the river also opens up possibilities for water-related activities, although the reviews provide mixed feedback on fishing success. One positive review highlights "tons of fish to catch (Walleye, Bass, Blue Gill)," indicating the potential for anglers to enjoy their hobby right at the campground. However, another reviewer reported not getting "a nibble," suggesting that fishing success can vary. Beyond the river, the campground is located in Clintwood, Virginia, which implies a setting within the broader natural landscape of the region. While specific details about surrounding forests or terrain aren't provided, it's reasonable to expect a generally natural and potentially wooded environment typical of this part of Virginia.
Based on the limited information available in the reviews, we can glean some insights into the services offered at Pound River Campground. This is a significant indicator of good campground maintenance and suggests that visitors can expect a clean and well-kept environment. The availability of "great grass for a tent by the side of the river" implies designated tent camping areas. While not explicitly stated, it is common for campgrounds to offer basic amenities such as restroom facilities. However, the reviews do not provide information about the availability of other services like water hookups, electrical hookups, shower facilities, or specific types of campsites (e.g., RV sites). Unfortunately, a phone number is not provided in the initial information, so you may need to search online for contact details to inquire about specific services.
One of the key features of Pound River Campground, as highlighted by a satisfied customer, is its potential for fishing in the Pound River. The riverside camping experience itself is another notable feature, offering a unique ambiance and easy access to the water. Additionally, the positive review points out that the town is "a short trip away," indicating that campers have convenient access to local amenities, supplies, and potentially attractions in Clintwood. For motorcycle enthusiasts, one reviewer shared a positive experience riding Adventure Bikes to the campground, suggesting it's accessible and a good overnight stop for such travelers. However, a less positive review mentions "loud cars around the camp site," including an instance of a car revving its motor within the grounds. This suggests that noise from nearby traffic or other campground users could be a potential issue for some visitors, and it's something to be aware of based on this feedback.

One reviewer had an "absolute incredible" experience, praising the cleanliness, the abundance of fish, the riverside tent camping, and the proximity to town. This positive feedback suggests that for some visitors, the campground offers a very enjoyable experience, particularly for those interested in fishing and riverside camping. However, the other review expresses disappointment due to a lack of fish and issues with noise from cars within the campground. This contrasting feedback highlights that individual experiences can vary, and factors like fishing luck and noise levels might influence a visitor's overall satisfaction. It is important for potential campers to consider both positive and negative feedback when making their decision.
For local users in the 'camping near me' category, Pound River Campground presents a riverside camping option in Clintwood, VA, with the potential for fishing and convenient access to town. The cleanliness of the facilities, as noted by one reviewer, is a positive aspect. Further research to find contact information and inquire about specific services and recent conditions is recommended before making a booking.
In conclusion, Pound River Campground offers a camping experience in Clintwood, Virginia, characterized by its location along the Pound River. While one reviewer raved about the cleanliness, fishing, and riverside tent sites, another expressed disappointment with the fishing and noise levels. Pound River Campground Reviews
An absolute incredible place! The host keeps the campsite and facilities so clean! Tons of fish to catch (Walleye, Bass, Blue Gill), and town is a short trip away. My buddy and I rode out Adventure Bikes there (motorcycle) and it was a great find camping for the night. Highly recommended....great grass for a tent by the side of the river. We will be back.
Jun 09, 2022 · Matt McGovernIt was ok, the fish don't hit . Not a nibble .Loud cars around the camp site. Was a little surprised that a mustang can sit there in the curve and rev its motor right there at the grounds... Was litt disappointed..
Oct 13, 2024 · Racheal HarrisOur favorite place to camp. The only thing wrong with it now is the people who have always camped there all these years can't get in to camp since people from out of town reserve the camping spots ahead of local people. The only other thing I can say against it is they desperately need an exit road out as it has been known to get flooded and I would feel much safer getting camper's boat's out of there when there is flooding risk. The road in and out at this time is right along side of the Pound River.
