Cane Patch Campground

Pound, VA 24279, USA

3.0
Has the possibility to be s really nice campground. Over 30 sites, in three separate areas. Hammock trees are few, and far between. Most of the vault toilets were closed, and the main bathroom was the biggest issue. The womens shower drains exceptionally slow, and you'll end up in standing water. The bathroom issues are the reason for only 3 stars. Location was great, if things are mowed the tent sites are great, you get free access to Phillips Creek. - Clementine Kruczynski

Looking for "camping near me" in the Pound, Virginia area? Cane Patch Campground, located at Pound, VA 24279, USA, presents itself as a local option with the potential for a pleasant outdoor experience. While specific contact information isn't provided in the message, its location in Pound, Virginia, places it within a region known for its natural beauty and access to outdoor recreation in the Appalachian Mountains.

Based on recent customer reviews, Cane Patch Campground offers over 30 campsites spread across three distinct areas. This suggests a variety of camping environments and potentially different levels of amenities or site types within the campground. For local users browsing the "camping near me" category, having multiple camping areas could provide options to suit different preferences, whether seeking a more social setting or a quieter, more secluded spot.

One of the notable features mentioned in the reviews is the free access to Phillips Creek. This could be a significant draw for campers who enjoy water-based activities such as fishing, wading, or simply enjoying the ambiance of a creek. The presence of a natural water source within or adjacent to the campground often enhances the camping experience, providing opportunities for recreation and connecting with nature. Local users who value access to water for leisure activities might find this a compelling feature of Cane Patch Campground.

The environment of Cane Patch Campground, based on its location in Pound, Virginia, is likely characterized by the surrounding Appalachian landscape. This could include wooded areas providing shade and a natural setting, as well as varying terrain. One reviewer mentioned that if things are mowed, the tent sites are great, suggesting that the campground management maintains the grounds to some extent, at least in the tent camping areas. However, the same reviewer noted that hammock trees are few and far between, which might be a consideration for campers who specifically enjoy hammock camping.

While the location and access to Phillips Creek are positive aspects, the reviews also highlight some significant drawbacks related to the campground's facilities. A major concern raised is the condition and availability of the restrooms. According to one reviewer, most of the vault toilets were closed, placing a greater burden on the main bathroom. The main bathroom itself reportedly has issues, with the women's shower draining exceptionally slowly, leading to standing water. These bathroom issues were significant enough for the reviewer to deduct stars from their overall rating, indicating that this is a crucial area where the campground needs improvement. For local users, especially those camping for more than a short stay or with families, clean and functional bathroom facilities are often a top priority.

The second review, while not directly about the camping experience of the reviewer, provides a positive note about a staff member named Greg. The reviewer expresses gratitude for Greg's kindness and friendship towards their husband, who was visiting a sick friend in the area. This suggests that at least one staff member at Cane Patch Campground is known for being helpful and going above and beyond for guests, even in situations beyond typical campground services. While this doesn't directly address the campground's facilities, positive interactions with staff can contribute to a more welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

Despite the potential of the location and the access to Phillips Creek, local users considering Cane Patch Campground based on the "camping near me" platform should be aware of the reported issues with the bathroom facilities. The closure of most vault toilets and the slow-draining shower in the main bathroom are significant concerns that could impact the comfort and convenience of a camping trip. It would be prudent for potential visitors to inquire about the current status of the restroom facilities before making a reservation.

The mention of "over 30 sites, in three separate areas" implies that Cane Patch Campground can accommodate a decent number of campers, potentially catering to both tent and RV campers, although the reviews don't explicitly detail the types of hookups available for RVs. Local users with RVs would need to inquire about the availability of electric, water, and sewer hookups at the different sites.

Currently, there is no information provided about any specific promotional offers or discounts that Cane Patch Campground might be running for local residents or during certain times of the year. Campgrounds sometimes offer special rates for longer stays or during off-peak seasons to attract visitors. Local users interested in Cane Patch Campground might want to check for any such promotions when contacting them for reservations or information.

In conclusion, Cane Patch Campground near Pound, Virginia, offers a potentially nice camping experience with a good location and free access to Phillips Creek. The campground has over 30 sites spread across three areas, suggesting variety in camping environments. However, potential local users should be aware of the reported significant issues with the bathroom facilities, including closed vault toilets and a slow-draining shower in the main bathroom. While a staff member has been commended for their helpfulness, the state of the restrooms is a crucial factor to consider. It would be advisable for local campers seeking "camping near me" in the Pound area to inquire about the current condition of the facilities before planning a stay at Cane Patch Campground to ensure it meets their expectations for comfort and convenience.
