Great Island Cabin 13 Introduce
For local residents seeking a budget-conscious "camping near me" option that provides the fundamental necessities for a coastal getaway, Great Island Cabin 13, located in Davis, NC 28524, presents a no-frills accommodation. Based on the available customer reviews, this cabin offers a basic shelter with essential amenities, catering to those who prioritize functionality over luxury and are comfortable providing some of their own supplies for a family vacation or simple coastal stay. It's important for prospective local users to understand the cabin's straightforward nature to ensure it aligns with their expectations and camping style.
Local users interested in booking Great Island Cabin 13 or inquiring for more details can contact the management at (252) 728-2250 or via mobile at +1 252-728-2250. Given the candid nature of the reviews regarding the cabin's basic features and potential limitations, direct communication with the booking agent is advisable to clarify any specific concerns and ensure a suitable stay.
The environment surrounding Great Island Cabin 13 in Davis, North Carolina, is likely characterized by the coastal setting of the region. Davis is located in Carteret County, which offers access to the Pamlico Sound and is relatively close to the Outer Banks and the Atlantic Ocean. While the reviews do not explicitly describe the immediate surroundings of the cabin, it can be inferred that it provides an opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the North Carolina coast. This could include proximity to water for fishing or boating, and the general coastal ecosystem with its unique flora and fauna. Local users familiar with the area will have a better understanding of the potential environmental attractions nearby.
According to the customer reviews, the services and features of Great Island Cabin 13 are intentionally minimal, focusing on the essentials. One reviewer explicitly states, "this is a cabin with the bare minimum. Nothing fancy." However, it does offer some key conveniences: a "roof over our head," a "private bathroom," "potable water and hot water," and a "stove if you need it." These are significant advantages over traditional tent camping, providing shelter, sanitation, and the ability to prepare meals. The mention of a private bathroom is a notable feature for those who prefer not to use communal facilities. The availability of hot water, though reported as inconsistent by one reviewer ("only had hot water for a few minutes on only one night out of four"), is still a basic comfort that some campers prioritize. The presence of a stove allows for cooking inside the cabin, which can be particularly useful during inclement weather.
The reviews also highlight what Great Island Cabin 13 does not offer. It is described as having "bare wood and bunk beds," indicating a rustic and basic interior. Guests are expected to "provide the rest," implying that essentials such as bedding, cooking utensils (beyond the stove itself), and other personal items are not included. This "bring your own" approach is common for more budget-friendly accommodations. One reviewer mentioned choosing this cabin because it was "near the bath house," which suggests that there might be communal bathroom facilities available in addition to the private one in the cabin, or as a backup when the cabin's hot water was unreliable. The fact that a guest had "been here before" suggests that the cabin, despite its simplicity and occasional issues, has repeat visitors who find it suitable for their needs.
A critical point raised in one of the reviews is the unreliability of the hot water supply, with only a few minutes of hot water available on a single night out of a four-night stay. This is a significant drawback that potential local users should be aware of and perhaps inquire about when booking. The reviewer's strategy of choosing a cabin "near the bath house" implies that communal showers were an alternative, but this might not be ideal for all guests seeking the convenience of a private bathroom with reliable hot water.
Currently, there is no promotional information provided for Great Island Cabin 13 in the reviews. Its appeal seems to be based on its affordability and provision of basic necessities in a coastal location. Local users seeking budget-friendly "camping near me" might find its simplicity attractive. To learn about any potential discounts for local residents, off-season rates, or package deals, it would be best to contact the management directly. Given the basic nature of the cabin, it is unlikely that there are extensive promotions, but it's always worth inquiring.
In conclusion, Great Island Cabin 13 near Davis, NC, offers a no-frills and budget-oriented "camping near me" option for local users who prioritize basic shelter and amenities over luxury. Its key features include a roof, a private bathroom, potable water, and a stove. However, potential guests should be prepared for a rustic interior with bare wood and bunk beds, and the need to bring their own supplies. The reported issue with inconsistent hot water is a significant consideration. Despite these limitations, the cabin seems to appeal to those seeking an affordable base for exploring the coastal region and who are comfortable with a more basic camping experience. Local users who value functionality and a lower price point might find Great Island Cabin 13 a suitable option, provided they are aware of its straightforward nature and potential for basic amenities.

Look, this is a cabin with the bare minimum. Nothing fancy. If you require fancy shmancy this place isn't for you. If you don't mind bare wood and bunk beds then you have found your spot. We absolutely love this place. Roof over our head, a private bathroom, potable water and hot water and a stove if you need it. We provide the rest and have a great family vacation.
