Great for big groups! Large area to pitch many tents. Huge fire pit for nice fire on theose cold nights. Huge double sized charcoal grill. We stayed on site #2. It's quite a walk from the street. There is no access by car up to the actual site. You have to walk your gear up about 500 feet. There is no running water at the site however there is a functional spigot down by the parking lot. There is a dumpster for garbage by the parking lot too. We enjoyed our time as a group of about 25 people. I would recommend this place for a group visit. - Chol Kim

The environment at Group Sites 1 & 2 is described as being well-suited for large gatherings. One reviewer highlighted the "large area to pitch many tents," indicating that there is significant space available to comfortably accommodate sizable groups. The presence of a "huge fire pit" suggests a central gathering point for evening activities and enjoying the outdoors, particularly on cooler nights. The mention of a "huge double sized charcoal grill" further supports the idea of the site being equipped for group meals and outdoor cooking. While the reviews do not provide extensive details about the surrounding natural landscape, the location in Putnam Valley, New York, suggests a setting within a region known for its natural beauty, potentially offering scenic views and a generally outdoor-oriented atmosphere. However, a crucial environmental aspect to note is the accessibility of the campsites. According to one review, specifically for site #2, it is "quite a walk from the street," requiring an approximately 500-foot walk to transport gear to the actual site, as there is "no access by car up to the actual site." This walk-in access is a significant environmental and logistical factor for groups to consider when planning their stay. In terms of services and amenities, Group Sites 1 & 2 are equipped with features designed to cater to the needs of large groups. The provision of a functional water spigot down by the parking lot, although not directly at the campsite, offers a source of water for basic needs. The presence of a dumpster near the parking lot facilitates proper waste disposal, helping to maintain the cleanliness of the area. However, it is explicitly mentioned that "there is no running water at the site" itself, which is an important service consideration for groups planning their water needs. The lack of direct car access to the campsite, requiring a 500-foot walk to transport gear, is a significant logistical aspect that groups will need to plan for, especially when bringing a substantial amount of equipment. The positive feedback regarding the suitability for a group of about 25 people suggests that the basic infrastructure and layout of the sites are conducive to accommodating large numbers. It is advisable for local users to contact the provided phone numbers to inquire about specific services such as the availability of picnic tables, restroom facilities (if any, beyond the mention of the water spigot and dumpster), and any regulations regarding group size or noise levels.
