Hawks Nest RV Park & Campground Introduce
For local residents searching for "camping near me" in the Brooksville, Florida area, Hawks Nest RV Park & Campground, located at 11185 Commercial Way, Brooksville, FL 34614, USA, presents a complex picture based on recent customer reviews. While one long-term resident speaks positively of the community and their experiences, another recent review raises significant concerns regarding the park's maintenance and management following a change in ownership. It is crucial for potential local users to consider both perspectives when evaluating this campground for their camping needs.
The environment of Hawks Nest RV Park & Campground is located in Brooksville, part of Florida's Nature Coast. This region is known for its natural beauty, including forests, rivers, and springs. While the specific natural features immediately surrounding the campground are not detailed in the provided reviews, its location in Brooksville suggests proximity to outdoor recreational opportunities typical of the area. However, the reviews primarily focus on the internal conditions and management of the park rather than the broader environmental context.
In terms of services and amenities, the reviews offer contrasting viewpoints. One long-term resident mentions a "wonderful experience" and having met "many many awesome people," implying a positive social environment and perhaps a sense of community fostered by the park. This suggests that for some, particularly those who have been residents for a while, Hawks Nest RV Park & Campground offers a welcoming and engaging social atmosphere. However, a more recent review paints a starkly different picture regarding the upkeep of the park's facilities. This review claims that since new Greek owners took over, the park has become "slummy," with allegations of infrequent lawn mowing ("grass is knee high"), "filthy" bathrooms lacking supplies, and a "joke" of a manager. These are serious concerns regarding basic services and maintenance that potential campers would need to consider.
A significant feature, according to the positive review, is the strong sense of community and the opportunity to meet "awsome people." This social aspect can be a major draw for those who value interaction and a friendly atmosphere during their camping experience. The reviewer even mentioned the interesting stories shared within the community, suggesting a vibrant social dynamic among some residents. However, this positive feature is directly contradicted by the more recent negative review, which implies a decline in overall park conditions that could negatively impact the experience for new or short-term visitors.
The negative review raises serious concerns about the management of Hawks Nest RV Park & Campground under the new ownership. Allegations of neglecting basic maintenance (lawn mowing, bathroom cleanliness, and supplies) are significant red flags. Furthermore, the claim that the management reacts to complaints by threatening eviction ("they love to throw you out") suggests a potentially hostile or unaccommodating environment for guests who voice concerns. This is a critical point for local users considering this campground, as it speaks to the responsiveness and professionalism of the management.
The stark contrast between the two reviews highlights a potential turning point in the experience offered at Hawks Nest RV Park & Campground following the change in ownership. The positive review seems to reflect a past or perhaps a perspective from a long-term resident who may have a different experience or tolerance level compared to short-term visitors with different expectations regarding cleanliness and maintenance. The negative review, being more recent and specific about the decline in conditions, warrants serious consideration for anyone contemplating a stay at this campground.
Given the significant negative feedback regarding the current state of maintenance and management, there is no indication of any positive promotional information in the provided reviews. Instead, the recent review serves as a cautionary note for potential visitors. Local users searching for "camping near me" would need to weigh the potential for a friendly community (as mentioned by the long-term resident) against the serious allegations of poor maintenance and unhelpful management under the new ownership.
For local users considering Hawks Nest RV Park & Campground, it would be prudent to seek additional, more recent reviews or even consider visiting the property to assess the current conditions firsthand, if possible. Contacting the campground directly using the provided phone numbers, (352) 293-4777 or +1 352-293-4777, could provide an opportunity to inquire about their current maintenance practices and management policies. However, it's important to be aware that the information received directly from the management might not align with the recent negative customer experience reported online.
In conclusion, Hawks Nest RV Park & Campground in Brooksville, FL, presents a mixed picture for local users seeking "camping near me." While a long-term resident speaks positively of the community, a more recent review expresses serious concerns about the park's cleanliness, maintenance, and management under new ownership. Potential visitors should carefully consider these contrasting viewpoints. The allegations of poor upkeep and a potentially retaliatory management style are significant red flags that warrant thorough investigation before choosing this campground for a stay. Local campers may want to explore other options in the Brooksville area to ensure a more positive and comfortable experience.

Hawks Nest RV Park & Campground Reviews
I live here and it is a wonderful experience. Met many many awsome people here. The stories are still coming in.might start a blog. Very interesting.
Sep 19, 2021 · JoeSince the new Greek owners purchased hawks nest the park has turned slummy. They wait till grass is knee high to mow. Bathrooms filthy and never supplies in them. So called Manager is a Joke. If you complain they love to throw you out. DO NOT GO THERE unless you want to live like that. There is no reasoning with the owners they don’t care only wants money
Oct 03, 2024 · Carol FernandesGreat place to stay very quiet and friendly people
May 01, 2025 · Becky HildrethQuiet and clean. People are friendly and quite. On the rare occasion a trouble maker gets in they are quickly exited. The manager Lori is nice. The only complaint is that the wifi has been out in half the park for months now and the owner has no sense of urgency to fix it yet he raised the rent. Nothing fancy. No amenities other than bathrooms and laundry. There are only two working washers for the place as well.
Apr 06, 2023 · Yvonne MillerBeing so tired and finding a place to sleep was one thing but being told that I could not pitch my tent to rest was another thing. If you do not own an RV, do not bother to come to this location. You will not be welcomed.
