Smokey Acres Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Brooksville, Florida area? Smokey Acres, located at 17066 Wiscon Rd, Brooksville, FL 34601, USA, offers a camping experience with positive aspects regarding its environment and site features, but with potential drawbacks concerning its facilities. Based on recent customer reviews, local users considering this campground should be aware of both its strengths and weaknesses to make an informed decision.
The environment of Smokey Acres appears to be a significant draw for visitors. One reviewer who stayed at RV site 2 described it as a "lovely campground" with "lots of room." This suggests that the campsites are spacious, providing ample area for setting up and enjoying the outdoors. The presence of a "beautiful nature trail" is also highlighted, indicating opportunities for guests to explore the natural surroundings and potentially observe local wildlife. This feature would appeal to those who enjoy hiking and immersing themselves in nature during their camping trip. The reviewer also mentioned seeing some wildlife, further emphasizing the natural appeal of the location.
In terms of services and features at the campsites themselves, the review of RV site 2 provides some specific details. The site offered "full hookups," which is a significant convenience for RV travelers, providing connections for water, electricity, and sewer. Additionally, the site was equipped with a picnic table and a fire pit, essential amenities for outdoor dining and enjoying campfires. These features contribute to a comfortable and traditional camping experience.
Another reviewer described their campsite as "wonderfully secluded," which can be a major advantage for those seeking peace and tranquility during their camping getaway. A secluded campsite offers more privacy and a greater sense of being immersed in nature, away from the noise and activity of other campers. This aspect of Smokey Acres suggests that it might be a good choice for individuals or families looking for a relaxing and quiet outdoor experience.
However, a significant concern was raised regarding the campground's facilities. The same reviewer who praised the secluded campsite noted that "the facilities left much to be desired" and were "nothing like the pictures advertised," leading to disappointment. This discrepancy between expectations set by promotional materials (presumably including photos) and the actual condition of the facilities is a critical point for potential visitors to consider. The reviewer suggested that the facilities are in need of "much-needed TLC and updates," indicating that they might be outdated, poorly maintained, or not as clean or functional as expected.
The contrast between the positive aspects of the environment and the negative feedback about the facilities suggests a campground with potential that is currently not being fully realized. While the natural setting, spacious and secluded campsites, and features like nature trails are appealing, the condition of the shared facilities could significantly impact the overall comfort and satisfaction of guests. Local users accustomed to well-maintained and modern facilities might find Smokey Acres lacking in this regard.
The positive mention of Smokey Acres being "dog friendly" is another important feature for many campers who travel with their pets. Knowing that dogs are welcome can be a deciding factor for pet owners when choosing a campground. This policy allows families to enjoy their camping trip without having to leave their furry companions behind, further enhancing the overall experience for them.
Promotional information is not included in the provided reviews. Therefore, local users interested in any special offers, discounts for longer stays, or seasonal promotions at Smokey Acres would need to seek this information directly from the campground. This could involve visiting their website (if available), contacting them via phone, or checking online booking platforms that might list any current deals.
In conclusion, for local users searching for "camping near me" in the Brooksville area, Smokey Acres offers a campground with appealing natural aspects, including spacious and potentially secluded campsites, a nature trail, and a dog-friendly policy. The availability of full hookups at some RV sites, along with picnic tables and fire pits, adds to the convenience and traditional camping experience. However, potential visitors must be aware of the significant concern raised about the condition of the facilities, which were reported to be disappointing and not matching advertised pictures. While the campground has the potential to be a "fantastic destination" with some updates, its current state might not meet the expectations of all campers.
Local users considering Smokey Acres should weigh the positive reviews regarding the environment and campsite features against the negative feedback concerning the facilities. If a peaceful and natural setting with basic campsite amenities is a priority, and you are less concerned about modern or well-maintained shared facilities, Smokey Acres might still be a viable option. However, it would be prudent to seek more recent reviews or even contact the campground directly to inquire about the current state of their facilities before making a reservation to ensure it aligns with your expectations for comfort and convenience. Exploring Smokey Acres could offer a lovely outdoor experience, but being prepared for potential shortcomings in the facilities is essential.

Smokey Acres Reviews
We rented RV site 2 with full hookups for 2 nights. Lovely campground with picnic table, fire pit and lots of room. Had a beautiful nature trail and we saw some wildlife. Dog friendly and we would recommend.
Nov 24, 2024 · Leigh PaulkThe campsite was wonderfully secluded, which provided a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. However, the facilities left much to be desired. They were nothing like the pictures advertised, which was quite disappointing. With some much-needed TLC and updates, this campground could truly be a fantastic destination. The potential is there, but the current state doesn't match expectations set by the photos.
Dec 15, 2024 · Isaac FawcettBeautiful, well kept sites. Only downside is that it's close enough to a road that you still hear cars going by. If that's no issue, then I highly recommend staying here!!
Nov 18, 2022 · Draaco PendragonGreat weekend getaway!
Feb 17, 2025 · Sarah BausmanSolid. Stayed in the Orange Blossum retreat. For the price it is a real steal. I really wanted to give it a five. Campground is nice, quiet and people are friendly. But there are two glaring issues. One. The campground floods in heavy rain. The road into the campground is barely passable when wet. 2-wheel drive low profile vehicles, I would not want to try. Another is the Toilet itself. It is very small and very low. There is a WALL MART with in 5 miles. But it is not 24 hours. The road is a HARD FIX. A larger pearl style toilet is easily solvable via the aforementioned wall mart.
