Hawthorne Campground Introduce
Looking for exceptional "camping near me" in the scenic surroundings of Peoa, Utah? Hawthorne Campground, located at Peoa, UT 84061, USA, might just be the "hidden gem" you've been searching for. You can reach them at (435) 336-2241 or +1 435-336-2241 to inquire about availability and reservations. Based on initial customer reviews, Hawthorne Campground offers a well-maintained environment and helpful service, making it a potential favorite for various camping needs.
One enthusiastic reviewer describes Hawthorne Campground as a "Hidden Gem!" This immediately sets a positive tone, suggesting that the campground offers a unique and pleasant experience that might be overlooked by those unfamiliar with the area. This kind of word-of-mouth praise is invaluable for those seeking recommendations for quality "camping near me."
This reviewer specifically booked the group site for a neighborhood overnight camping trip and was highly impressed with the facilities. They noted that the grass area was "so well kept" and provided "plenty of room for multiple trailers and tents." This is a significant advantage for larger groups or families traveling with multiple vehicles and camping units, indicating that Hawthorne Campground can comfortably accommodate more extensive setups. The well-maintained grassy area suggests a commitment to the overall aesthetic and comfort of the camping environment.
The presence of a pavilion is also mentioned. While the reviewer noted that it was "a little on the small side," it proved functional for their group, providing shelter from an early evening rainstorm and keeping everyone dry. This highlights the availability of a communal structure that can be beneficial in inclement weather, offering a gathering space and protection from the elements. The fact that the group was able to "make it work" suggests a degree of adaptability and that the pavilion, while perhaps not expansive, serves its purpose.
Adding to the positive ambiance of their stay, the reviewer recounts being "blessed with an amazing rainbow" during their visit, emphasizing the natural beauty of the location. While the campground itself cannot guarantee such natural occurrences, this detail contributes to the overall positive memory of their camping experience at Hawthorne Campground.
In terms of essential facilities, the reviewer confirms the availability of water and reports that the outhouse/bathrooms were "clean." Cleanliness of restroom facilities is a crucial factor for any campground, and positive feedback in this area is a significant draw for potential campers. The provision of water is also a fundamental necessity for a comfortable camping trip.
The positive experience was further enhanced by the camp host, who is described as "kind and helpful." A friendly and accommodating host can significantly impact a camper's stay, providing assistance, information, and contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. This personal touch can elevate a basic camping experience into a truly enjoyable one.
However, not all feedback is entirely positive. Another reviewer points out a significant issue regarding the clarity of the site fees. They state that the "site fees are very confusing" and that they were unsure how much they owed for their campsite. This lack of transparency in pricing can be a major frustration for campers and can lead to uncertainty and potential disputes. Clear and easily understandable fee structures are essential for a positive customer experience.
On a more positive note, this reviewer mentions that Hawthorne Campground does offer an online pay option, which can be a convenient feature for many campers. However, they also note a significant oversight: the sign indicating the online pay option was located behind the fee box and was not visible. This highlights a need for better signage and communication regarding payment methods to ensure that campers are aware of all available options and the associated costs.
This reviewer concludes by suggesting that the campground needs to fix the visibility issue with the online payment sign. This constructive criticism points to a specific area where Hawthorne Campground could improve its service and provide a more seamless experience for its visitors.
Considering Hawthorne Campground within the platform category of "camping near me," it presents itself as a potentially excellent choice due to its well-maintained grounds, spacious group sites, clean facilities, and helpful staff. The "hidden gem" description suggests a location that offers a pleasant and perhaps less crowded camping experience compared to more widely known campgrounds. The availability of a group site makes it particularly appealing for larger gatherings, such as neighborhood trips or family reunions.
Based on the available information, potential features and services at Hawthorne Campground include:
- Well-kept grassy areas suitable for multiple trailers and tents.
- Spacious group camping sites.
- A pavilion for shelter and gathering.
- Access to water.
- Clean outhouse/bathroom facilities.
- A kind and helpful camp host.
- An online payment option for site fees.
Promotional information, while not explicitly stated as such, can be inferred from the positive review. The "hidden gem" descriptor itself acts as a promotional hook, suggesting a valuable discovery for those seeking "camping near me." The emphasis on well-maintained grounds, spacious sites, clean facilities, and a helpful host all contribute to a positive image and can attract potential campers. The fact that it comfortably accommodated a neighborhood group with multiple trailers and tents also serves as implicit promotion for its suitability for group outings.
However, the campground should address the issues raised regarding the confusing site fees and the poorly placed online payment sign. Rectifying these issues would enhance the overall customer experience and ensure greater transparency and convenience for campers.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Peoa, Utah area, Hawthorne Campground appears to offer a promising option, particularly for group camping. The positive feedback regarding the environment, facilities, and staff suggests a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported confusion regarding site fees and ensure they clarify the costs before their stay. The availability of an online payment option is a plus, provided the signage is improved for better visibility.
In conclusion, Hawthorne Campground seems to be a well-regarded "hidden gem" for camping enthusiasts near Peoa, UT, especially those planning group trips. The clean and spacious environment, coupled with a helpful camp host, are significant advantages. To further enhance the camper experience, the campground should prioritize clarifying its site fee structure and ensuring that information about payment options, such as the online system, is easily accessible to all visitors.

Jun 09, 2024 · Jill LallissThe site fees are very confusing. I was not sure how much I owed for the campsite. They do offer an online pay option but the sign was behind the fee box and not visible. They need to fix that.
Apr 12, 2025 · Landon ButtarsSad campground. God forbid you have kids or puppies to enjoy the nice field. You'll have this truck flying in to ticket you for anything possible. Over $200 a night to be monitored every 20 minutes. Never again.
Jun 01, 2021 · tyson scott (FrostEnergy)Nice and spacious group campground.
Aug 05, 2023 · Todd SThis is a large group site. Wide open area with covered picnic tables, three fire pits, and two bathrooms. Views are stunning, with lots of visible stars at night. Close to Rockport Reservoir. Camp hosts and park staff were very welcoming and friendly. The vault toilets for this site were the cleanest I've ever seen. Impossibly clean with no smell (what sorcery is this?!).A couple of 'cons:' There are some homes close by, but they didn't impact our stay at all. It's also close to the entrance to Rockport State Park, so there were a fair number of cars passing by, especially during the day. However, the site is so large that you can easily set up camp far from the road itself, so we found it to be a non-issue.Price is higher than an individual site, obviously, but was well worth it for our group. Would recommend!
