Riverside Group Campground Introduce
For local users in Utah and those searching for "camping near me," it is important to have accurate and up-to-date information about the availability and conditions of campgrounds. Riverside Group Campground, located at 3045 Cottonwood Dr, Coalville, UT 84017, USA, is listed as a potential option within Rockport State Park. However, a recent customer review raises significant concerns regarding its current operational status and the accuracy of online information.
The single available review for Riverside Group Campground paints a concerning picture for anyone searching for "camping near me" and considering this location. The reviewer recounts an experience of attempting to visit the campground based on information found online, which stated that the campground was open year-round, gates did not close until 11:00 pm, online booking was unavailable but showed "tons of availability," and walk-ins were welcome. Contrary to this information, the reviewer found the campground to be "totally closed and locked."
This discrepancy between the online information and the actual status of the campground is a critical issue for potential visitors. When searching for "camping near me," users rely on the accuracy of websites and online resources to plan their trips. Finding a campground listed as available but actually closed can lead to significant inconvenience and wasted travel time. The reviewer specifically points out the need for Utah State Parks to update their website to reflect the current operational status of Riverside Group Campground.
Adding to the negative experience, the reviewer also describes an unsettling encounter with an individual living outside the gate of the closed campground. According to the review, this person shone a red laser pointer at them for stopping for more than two minutes, which the reviewer interpreted as a threatening gesture, feeling as if they were "going to be shot!" This incident, while anecdotal, raises concerns about the security and the environment surrounding the currently closed campground.
Given this single but detailed and negative review, it is impossible to provide a comprehensive introduction to the environment, services, and features of Riverside Group Campground based on positive customer experiences. The review does not offer any insights into the natural setting, potential amenities, or typical services that might be available when the campground is operational. Instead, it serves as a strong warning about the potential for inaccurate online information and a negative experience upon arrival.
For local users actively searching for "camping near me" and coming across Riverside Group Campground in their search results, it is highly recommended to exercise extreme caution and seek up-to-date information from official sources before planning a visit. The phone numbers provided for the campground are (435) 336-2241 and +1 435-336-2241. Potential visitors should attempt to contact these numbers to inquire about the current operational status of the campground and to verify the accuracy of any online information they may have found.
It is also advisable to check the official Utah State Parks website directly for the most current information regarding the status of Riverside Group Campground and Rockport State Park in general. Park websites are usually the most reliable source for information on closures, availability, fees, and regulations.
The fact that the campground is described as a "Group Campground" in its name suggests that it is likely designed to accommodate larger groups of campers, possibly with specific amenities or site configurations suitable for group camping. However, the current review provides no details to elaborate on these potential features. When inquiring about the campground's status, it would also be useful to ask about the typical amenities offered to group campers, such as group-sized campsites, communal fire pits, picnic areas, or designated restroom facilities.
The address, 3045 Cottonwood Dr, Coalville, UT 84017, places the campground within the vicinity of Rockport State Park, which is known for its reservoir and surrounding natural landscapes. When operational, Riverside Group Campground might offer access to these recreational opportunities, such as boating, fishing, and hiking, although this cannot be confirmed based on the available review.
In conclusion, based on the single customer review, Riverside Group Campground in Coalville, UT, appears to be currently closed and locked, despite online information suggesting availability. The reviewer also reported a negative interaction with an individual near the closed gate. For local users searching for "camping near me," it is strongly recommended to verify the operational status of Riverside Group Campground through official channels, such as direct phone contact or the Utah State Parks website, before making any plans to visit. The significant discrepancy between online information and the reported reality necessitates caution. Without further information from reliable sources, it is impossible to provide a positive or detailed introduction to the environment, services, or features of this campground. Potential campers should prioritize their safety and seek alternative "camping near me" options until the status of Riverside Group Campground is confirmed and any discrepancies in online information are resolved.

Riverside Group Campground Reviews
Open year around? Gates don’t close until 11:00 pm? Could not book on-line, website said tons of availability and walk ins are welcome…. Totally closed and locked…. And the guy who lives outside of the gate will shine a red laser pointer at you if you’re stopped for more than 2 min (felt like I was going to be shot!). Utah state parks need to update their web site!!
