The environment surrounding Snydermill Recreation Camp offers a remarkable combination of accessibility and natural immersion. Located just south of the Winter Olympic Sports Park and the outlet malls in Park City, the camp enjoys close proximity to urban conveniences. However, the short drive up a dirt road leads to a significant transformation, transporting visitors deep into a quiet and peaceful forest. This unique setting provides a true sense of escape and tranquility, allowing groups to enjoy the beauty of nature without being far removed from essential amenities. The presence of deer and other wildlife, including a memorable sighting of a mother moose and her baby, further enhances the natural charm of the camp, offering opportunities for wildlife observation right outside the lodge.
Snydermill Recreation Camp boasts a range of services and features tailored to accommodate large groups comfortably. The facility is described as clean and well-kept, indicating a commitment to maintaining a pleasant environment for visitors. The camp is run by helpful senior missionaries who manage check-in and check-out processes and are available to assist with any needs that may arise. The camp comprises at least two parts, with the larger lodge being particularly well-equipped. This main lodge features a huge, fully stocked kitchen, complete with cooking utensils, a stove, oven, refrigerator, and ample electrical outlets for appliances, making meal preparation for large groups manageable. The main eating area is also expansive, featuring a piano and a large balcony offering scenic views and a staircase leading to a trail to the parking lot. This area serves as a versatile space for dining and group activities.
Accommodation within the larger lodge includes two bedrooms and one bathroom on either side of the kitchen, likely designated for leadership or cooking staff. Downstairs, there are several bedrooms equipped with bunk beds, along with bathroom and shower facilities to accommodate the larger group. This setup provides comfortable and segregated sleeping arrangements for different segments of a large party. The senior missionaries oversee the check-in and check-out process, which includes an expectation that the facility is cleaned by the departing group, ensuring its continued cleanliness for future visitors. The helpfulness of the missionaries extends to providing assistance if guests forget essential items, and the close proximity to Walmart and outlet stores (about a 5-minute drive) offers a convenient solution for any last-minute needs.
The features of Snydermill Recreation Camp extend beyond the lodge itself to include outdoor amenities suitable for group activities. While there is no lake for water-based activities, the camp offers a playground and a fire pit in the lower area, providing opportunities for outdoor recreation and communal gatherings around a campfire. The beautiful scenery surrounding the camp encourages exploration and enjoyment of the natural environment. While specific activities might require advance reservation and coordination with the camp management, the setting is conducive to hiking, nature walks, and outdoor games. The camp's design and amenities make it particularly well-suited for family reunions, youth conferences, Young Single Adult (YSA) activities, and girls' camps, offering a structured and comfortable alternative to traditional tent camping with the added benefit of ample indoor space for activities and meals.

Snydermill Recreation Camp Reviews
A great place to go for a large get-together. My one observation is that two years in a row the doors in the girls restroom haven't locked easily. You have to lift the door to get the latch to hook which is quite hard.
Aug 25, 2023 · Lauren KellerWe held our girls' camp there in the summer of 2018. We had a large group of about 50 with Young Women and leaders. This is a Camp that is owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Accessibility was awesome-it's, literally just south of the Winter Olympic Sports Park and outlets in Park City, but you drive up a dirt road for a few minutes so by the time you arrive at the lodge, you are deep in the forest and it's quiet and peaceful. The facility is clean and well kept. There are deer and other wildlife walking around if you don't scare them off. We saw a mother moose feeding her baby right outside the kitchen door! This Camp is run by senior missionaries, who are very helpful. There are 2 parts of this Camp-we stayed in the larger lodge. It had a huge, fully stocked kitchen, with things to use and cook with, and a stove, oven, fridge, electrical outlets for appliances, like crockpots, electric skillets, etc. The main eating area is huge, had a piano, a large balcony you could go look outside, with a staircase that led down to a trail to the parking lot. We held our activities there. There were 2 bedrooms & 1 bathroom on either side of the kitchen for Priesthood/cooking staff and downstairs, with several bedrooms with bunkbeds, bathroom/showers, etc. The Senior missionaries check you in and out (after you clean). If you forget something, the missionaries often have things to help or you can just run up the street to the WalMart/Outlet areas and be there in about 5 minutes. There was beautiful scenery and activities to do-you have to reserve it ahead, though, and they can explain the amenities. No lake to canoe around in or anything, but there was a playground and fire pit in the lower area. Great for family reunions, Youth Conferences, YSA activities and Girls' Camps! We had all of our activities well planned and this turned out to be a wonderful facility to use and just enjoy the surroundings without the set up and clean up of the usual tents.
