Hailstone Campground Introduce
For local residents in Utah and visitors seeking "camping near me" with waterfront access and scenic beauty, Hailstone Campground, located at 515 UT-319, Heber City, UT 84032, USA, within the Jordanelle State Park, presents a destination with both significant appeal and notable drawbacks. Situated near the "wonderful" Jordanelle Reservoir, this campground offers a range of features and services, though it is also facing environmental changes due to nearby development. For inquiries or reservations, potential visitors can contact the campground at (435) 649-9540 or +1 435-649-9540.
The environment surrounding Hailstone Campground is anchored by the "beyond wonderful" Jordanelle Reservoir. This suggests that the campground benefits from the scenic beauty of the reservoir and its surrounding landscape. While one reviewer noted that Jordanelle "used to be a hidden gem, but now it's always busy," this popularity underscores its inherent attractiveness as a recreational area. The campground itself is described as having "beautiful scenery," indicating that campers can expect pleasant views and a generally attractive natural setting. A unique feature is the availability of "interesting pull through sites," which are designed to provide "great campsite room without feeling packed in." This layout likely offers both ease of access for RVs and a sense of spaciousness and privacy between campsites, enhancing the overall camping experience.
In terms of services and features, Hailstone Campground appears to prioritize the comfort and convenience of its guests. The presence of "friendly and attentive" camphosts suggests a well-managed campground where assistance and information are readily available. The provision of "great clean restrooms located close to most sites" is a significant amenity, often highly valued by campers, indicating a commitment to hygiene and accessibility. The campground also offers waterfront access, although it is described as "just plain rock, good for dog walking." While not ideal for swimming or lounging, this rocky shoreline provides an opportunity for enjoying the water's edge and exercising pets. The "affordable rates" mentioned by one reviewer make Hailstone Campground an economically attractive option for those seeking "camping near me" without breaking the bank.
However, a significant and concerning aspect of the current environment around Hailstone Campground is the "encroaching, endless construction of houses, condos, lodges, etc." One reviewer described this development as "absolutely horrifying," noting that construction is taking place "about 30 feet from Hailstone." This proximity means that campers are likely to experience the visual and auditory impacts of ongoing construction, including the presence of graders operating as early as 0700. The reviewer expressed sadness over the loss of "fields and gorgeous scrub oak," indicating a noticeable change in the natural landscape due to this development. The prospect of "apartments will be built 30 feet from the campers" raises concerns about the future ambiance and potential overcrowding of the area. This is a critical factor that potential visitors should consider, as it may significantly detract from the "perfectly idyllic spot" that Jordanelle once was.
Despite the ongoing construction, the positive aspects of Hailstone Campground remain. The friendly camphosts contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, and the clean restrooms enhance comfort. The pull-through sites offer space and convenience, and the affordable rates make it an accessible option. The proximity to the Jordanelle Reservoir, even with a rocky shoreline, still provides opportunities for enjoying the water and the surrounding natural beauty. The fact that it used to be considered a "hidden gem" speaks to the inherent attractiveness of the location.
There is no specific promotional information provided in the reviews beyond the mention of "affordable rates." However, the positive feedback regarding the camphosts, restroom cleanliness, and campsite layout serves as an implicit endorsement for the campground's operational aspects. Potential promotions might be available through Jordanelle State Park or other camping platforms, so it would be advisable to check official sources for any current offers or discounts.
For local users in Singapore researching camping options in the United States for future travel, Hailstone Campground at Jordanelle State Park illustrates a common scenario where natural recreational areas face development pressures. While the campground itself may offer appealing features and services, the surrounding environment can be significantly impacted by nearby construction. This highlights the importance of seeking recent reviews and information about the current conditions of a campground and its surroundings before planning a visit.
In conclusion, Hailstone Campground at Jordanelle State Park near Heber City, Utah, offers "beautiful scenery," spacious pull-through sites, clean restrooms, friendly camphosts, and affordable rates, making it an attractive "camping near me" option, particularly for those seeking access to the Jordanelle Reservoir. However, potential visitors must be aware of the significant ongoing construction in close proximity to the campground, which may impact the visual and auditory experience. The loss of natural landscape and the anticipation of further development are serious considerations. Despite these drawbacks, the campground's inherent qualities and the allure of Jordanelle Reservoir still make it a popular destination. It is recommended to weigh the positive aspects against the potential disturbances from construction when deciding whether Hailstone Campground is the right "camping near me" for your outdoor adventure. Checking for the most recent updates on the construction status is also advisable before making a booking.

Hailstone Campground Reviews
Jordanelle is beyond wonderful. It used to be a hidden gem, but now it's always busy. The camphosts are friendly and attentive. The only drawback to this perfectly idyllic spot is the encroaching, endless construction of houses, condos, lodges, etc. Absolutely horrifying, construction is going on about 30 feet from Hailstone. The fields and gorgeous scrub oak are mostly gone, graders are running at 0700. It's terribly sad and quite a jolt to be camping and be able to see/hear graders, knowing apartments will be built 30 feet from the campers.
Aug 30, 2024 · Diane AllenBeautiful scenery, interesting pull through sites provides great campsite room without feeling packed in. Good affordable rates. Great clean restrooms located close to most sites. Waterfront is just plain rock, good for dog walking.
Dec 02, 2022 · TC FlanaganIt's a beautiful place, the only problem I have is that homesteaders Homestead here to make it so other people who want to enjoy the outdoors really can't.the campsites are taken. I was lucky to get four days in one without full hookups. I tried to make reservations a few times and they were book. I had to come here to see if I could get a spot. Well luck of the draw I got a spot 1 night and had to move next day to another spot and so it is really inconvenient. I will give this place five stars for the beauty of the place. But they need to work on how many days a person can be in a camp spot. I've been here 3 days and have seen 6 camp sites in this loop that have parked Rigs or trailers there and have not seen one person at any of them. So if you want to come for the day! That's great but to camp Good luck!
Nov 24, 2021 · StrahThis is our first time staying here and we are pretty impressed. Great amenities for RVs with asphalt lots with electricity, water, fire pit and picnic tables. Not all lots have sewer. There are private showers and clean bathrooms. Also there is a 2 washer/2 drier laundry facility which is rare with state parks. I believe some of the issues people are having is that with some of the lots, people are having a difficult time leveling their rig because of the hills. I would definitely be staying here again if we are passing through
Apr 28, 2019 · Eric JodoinCute place by the lake. They made us wait over an hour outside the grounds because we were a little early, so don't arrive before 3 pm. The spots were difficult to get in and out of, and our slot was extremely sloped, so bring leveling blocks. There are restaurants and shopping near by which is kind of nice.
