La Wis Wis Campground

4.0
Right now, the campsite is closed. Went there to bike ride through it. Many trees down and roads covered in debree. I feel the campsite isn't taken care of as it should be. Last year, it needed a lot of debris removed and it's not getting better. I feel like this campground is not going to be as pretty anymore if not taken care of. Also, last year, the outhouses were not emptied enough and that was horrible. Such a beautiful creek that runs along it. - Myriam Makalena

La Wis Wis Campground Introduce

For local users seeking exceptional "camping near me" experiences in the scenic state of Washington, La Wis Wis Campground, situated near Randle and nestled within the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, presents a compelling option. Located at La Wis Wis Campground, Randle, WA 98377, this campground offers a diverse range of natural environments, from a lovely creek-side setting to serene old-growth forests, making it an attractive destination for various camping preferences. As you explore "camping near me," consider the unique features and recent feedback regarding La Wis Wis Campground to determine if it aligns with your ideal outdoor getaway.

The environment of La Wis Wis Campground is a significant draw for many visitors. The presence of a beautiful creek running alongside the campground creates a soothing and picturesque atmosphere. One reviewer enthusiastically described the river setting as "lovely," highlighting its appeal. Additionally, the campground boasts sections of old-growth forest, providing a sense of tranquility and immersion in nature. For those seeking a more secluded experience, the C loop is specifically mentioned as being located within a "lovely old growth forest" and offering a "peaceful and quiet" ambiance. This loop is also noted for having larger campsites compared to the riverfront options in loops A, D, and E.

A notable feature of La Wis Wis Campground is the "Blue Hole," a section of the river where swimming is possible. Described as a "must" and a "lovely spot," the Blue Hole offers slow-moving water that was waist deep in August, making it a popular area for campers to cool off and enjoy the river. Access to the Blue Hole is reported to be easiest straight through the parking lot via orange cone markers, rather than the signed trail which involves a more challenging route. This direct access point enhances the appeal and convenience of this natural swimming area.

However, recent feedback also indicates some potential areas of concern regarding the maintenance of the campground. One reviewer, writing about a recent visit (at a time when the campsite was closed), observed many downed trees and debris covering the roads, suggesting a lack of upkeep. This individual also noted similar issues from the previous year, expressing concern that the campground's beauty might diminish if not properly cared for. Furthermore, the same review mentioned problems with the outhouses not being emptied frequently enough in the past, creating an unpleasant experience.

Despite these maintenance concerns, another reviewer's initial apprehension about the campground being "down in a canyon and probably dark and not very appealing" was proven wrong, emphasizing the pleasant surprise of the actual environment. This highlights the discrepancy between potential perceptions and the reality of the campground's natural beauty, particularly the river setting and old-growth forest.

In terms of services and features, the reviews provide some insights, although a comprehensive list is not available. The presence of multiple camping loops (A, C, D, E) suggests a significant capacity, catering to different preferences (riverfront vs. forest). The availability of a swimming area like the Blue Hole can be considered a key feature, enhancing the recreational opportunities for campers. The mention of outhouse facilities indicates the type of restroom available, and the negative comment suggests potential inconsistencies in their maintenance.

One reviewer noted the unusual presence of only one camp host for a campground of this size, expressing that typically, a campground this large would have a host on every loop. Additionally, the reviewer found the camp hosts to be "not interactive," which differed from their usual experiences at other campgrounds. This lack of interaction, combined with being the only occupants in their section of the C loop one night (as two females), led to a slight feeling of vulnerability, although the reviewer also stated that the campsite felt "very safe overall." This feedback points to a potential area for improvement in terms of camp host presence and engagement.

Promotional information is not included in the provided data. Therefore, any specific offers or incentives to attract campers cannot be detailed here. Local users interested in any potential promotions or updates regarding the campground's status (especially in light of the recent closure and debris) should contact La Wis Wis Campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (360) 497-1100 or +1 360-497-1100.

In conclusion, La Wis Wis Campground offers a potentially rewarding "camping near me" experience with its beautiful riverside location, serene old-growth forests, and the popular Blue Hole swimming area. The diverse camping loops cater to different preferences, with the C loop offering larger, more secluded sites in the forest. However, recent feedback raises concerns about campground maintenance, including debris and upkeep of facilities, as well as the limited presence and interactivity of camp hosts. Local users considering La Wis Wis Campground should weigh these factors and potentially contact the campground directly for the most up-to-date information on its condition and services before planning their visit.
