Embrace the Community Atmosphere Near Mercer, Pennsylvania
Mercer, Pennsylvania, is situated in the western part of the state, known for its blend of rural charm and small-town community feel. Plantation Park, located on Wilson Avenue, appears to be a distinct type of campground or RV park, functioning more like a gated residential community with a focus on creating a welcoming and engaging environment for its residents, many of whom seem to be on a semi-permanent or permanent basis. This suggests that the atmosphere is likely to be more settled and neighborly compared to a transient, short-term campground. The emphasis on being "family oriented" implies that the park is designed to cater to families with children, potentially offering amenities and activities that appeal to a wide age range.
The "well kept" nature of the trailer park, as mentioned in a review, suggests that the grounds are maintained to a high standard, contributing to a pleasant living environment. The gated aspect provides an added layer of security and a sense of community exclusivity. While the natural environment isn't explicitly detailed, being located in western Pennsylvania, it's likely that Plantation Park benefits from the surrounding regional landscapes, which often include green spaces and a generally peaceful setting.
Potential Services and Amenities at Plantation Park
Based on the description as a "well kept gated community" with a focus on semi-permanent residents and family activities, Plantation Park likely offers a range of services and amenities designed for longer-term comfort and engagement. Potential offerings include:
- Full Hookup RV Sites: Given that it accommodates semi-permanent and permanent residents, the sites likely offer full hookups, including electricity (potentially with options for different amperages), water, and sewer connections.
- Spacious Sites: Longer-term RV parks often provide more spacious sites to accommodate larger RVs and provide residents with more outdoor living area.
- Gated Entrance: The mention of a "gated community" indicates a controlled access point, enhancing security and privacy for residents.
- Planned Activities: A significant feature highlighted in a review is the offering of "many planned activities which can be enjoyed by all ages." These could range from social gatherings and holiday events to recreational programs and games.
- Dog-Friendly Features: One positive review notes that it's a "nice safe place to walk and take your dog" and even has a "separate dog play area," indicating that the park is pet-friendly and provides specific amenities for dogs.
- Well-Maintained Grounds: The description "well kept" suggests that the landscaping and overall appearance of the park are maintained to a good standard.
- Potential for Laundry Facilities: For longer-term residents, on-site laundry facilities would be a significant convenience.
- Potential for Recreational Areas: Given the family-oriented nature, there might be recreational areas such as playgrounds, sports courts (e.g., basketball, volleyball), or open green spaces for games.
- On-Site Management: A community with semi-permanent residents typically has on-site management for maintenance, security, and organizing activities.
However, one significant limitation mentioned in a review is that "there weren’t any bathrooms open to use." This suggests that public restroom facilities might be limited or unavailable for guests or residents, which could be a crucial consideration for potential visitors or those without full bathroom facilities in their RVs.

Plantation Park seems to emphasize community and engagement through its features and activities:
- Family-Oriented Environment: The park is specifically described as "very family oriented," suggesting a welcoming atmosphere for families with children.

Plantation Park Reviews
nice safe place to walk and take your dog. It even has a separate dog play area. The only thing that I didn’t like is there weren’t any bathrooms open to use.

Feb 13, 2017 · Marilyn FullwoodDrama filled park. Security constantly called over the most minor of things, as in kids just playing. Can’t have any fun in or around your own lot. They tend to favor the problems starters and correct the ones doing nothing wrong. Hopefully changing their ways in the future....
Jul 31, 2021 · James Confer IIIAbsolutely beautiful location. It is also quite large. They also have a discus golf course.
Aug 03, 2023 · Ashleigh FalkinburgThe park is like it's own little town. Would love to own a camp there!
